My wife and I owned a cafe near the Main Gate. A scene was filmed in our cafe that ended up on the editing floor, but the film production created a sign to cover up our sign and I still have it after all these years in my garage. I feel it’s a nice piece of hidden trivia that only me and my wife know about.
Clap your hands everybody, and everybody clap your hands. We're Lambda Lambda Lambda and Omega Mu. We come here on stage tonight to do our show for you. We got a rockin' rhythm and a hi-tech sound that'll make you move your body down to the ground. We got Poindexter on the violin, and Lewis and Gilbert will be joining in. We got Booger Presley on the mean guitar and a rap by little ol' me Lamar. We got Takashi beating on his gong, the boys and the Mu's are clapping along. And just when you thought, ya seen it all, along comes a Lambda four foot tall. So Wormser come on out here on the floor, so we can move our bodies, like never before. Break!
On a bit of a rabbit hole with the Internet when I came across your videos... This one, in particular, hits home for me as I was a student at the U of A in 1986-1987 (a highly unsuccessful student!) but I Graham Greenlee dorm, just a building or two from the stadium, walked the grassy mall to the Student Union and Old Main, and visited many of the buildings depicted. On a side note, my claim to fame was turning 18 on campus and a few of the guys at the dorm threw me a party (it was a Tuesday or Wednesday night I believe) with jungle juice a few other additions... I had never drank or partied when I was younger so it was a new experience... Anyway, got blitzed through the evening and ended up going out to the Old Main to 'play football' or so I was told and we ended up at the fountain. Got pantsed and thrown into that very same fountain, climbed to the top and sang, something, with everyone else singing as well all while being spot lit by a police helicopter from overhead! It was an interesting night!
I live near Tucson and drive Uber there all the time, often on campus and nearby. Every time I think about Revenge of the Nerds for some reason. I was a kid when I saw it in the theater, and of course it just stuck with me. Thank you for making this video. Tucson is a great city, especially near the college...
4:16 The guy hanging someone over the balcony "Donald Gibb"...he played "Jackson" in "Blood Sport" alongside Van Damme...He also went on to play "Ogre" in the next instalments of the "Revenge Of The Nerds" franchise....
Another great video! Timely, I actually just recently finished reading Curtis Armstrong’s memoir, “Revenge of the Nerd”. Lots of interesting stories about the filming of this, along with the rest of his career. Highly recommended!
Maybe I’ll check the book out. I watched this movie a few years back with the commentary track on, and Curtis Armstrong seemed a little embarrassed by the movie now, and also didn’t even seem to fully have a grasp of his own character in the film.
Love this movie.. can’t find it online… Just watched High School USA where Gilbert ( Anthony Edwards) was the coolest Porsche driving dude in high school filmed a year before Revenge of The Nerds… Great job on this video!!
I went to the University of Arizona and studied film and theater. In fact, one of my professors was one of the girls in the Row Row Row your boat scene. She told me that the University did not know the details (mainly the explicit sexual content ) of the plot and tried to pull the plug halfway through the production, but since they already signed the contract, there was nothing the University could do.
My grandfather was Construction Coordinator on that movie. I remember him being on location in Tuscon and calling my mom telling her about the "dumb college movie" he was working on. LOL! Great video!
I currently study at the University of Arizona and have taken classes in all the buildings seen at the beginning when they are being dropped off. The back half of the Bear Down Gym is a tutoring center and I'm amazed at the overhead shot in the movie at the start of the Greek Games: the stadium then looks like a skeleton, but the main library is definitely recognizable. You are correct that the old location of Greasy Tony's, which was before my time, is now student housing.
I went to UofA during the filming and was on camera for about a half second. You are correct, the carnival was in the "mall' which was the grass area in the middle of campus. They had an annual "Spring Fling" carnival there every year.
As a 80's kid I love these vids. New to the channel. Have you done any vids on One crazy summer or Better off dead? On another note those were the first 2 80's movies that came to mind. Total coincidence that they are Cusack movies.
Watching this movie in the theater at age 16 was life-changing for me. Best scene was during the party where they were trying to impress the Tri Lamb officials, Lewis puts on the record "Swing Low, Sweet Chariot" , to which Lamar removes nearly right away. The apologetic expression on his face says: "𝘐'𝘮 𝘴𝘰𝘳𝘳𝘺 𝘪𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘴𝘦 𝘸𝘩𝘪𝘵𝘦 𝘨𝘶𝘺𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘬 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘪𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘵𝘺𝘱𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘮𝘶𝘴𝘪𝘤 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘢𝘱𝘱𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘴 𝘵𝘰 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘣𝘭𝘢𝘤𝘬 𝘱𝘦𝘰𝘱𝘭𝘦."
I lived in Tucson from 1998-2001. Cool to see stuff filmed on E. Speedway. I lived on the other side of town from Greasy Tony's on E. Speedway as Speedway went through the entire city. I never knew the movie was filmed at U of A. Cool stuff. If you like Tucson, you should do Major League if you haven't already as the spring training stuff was filmed at High Corbett Field. When I lived there the Colorado Rockies had their spring training there. Sadly no MLB is there anymore. Oh, incidentally, Curtis Armstrong aka Booger just turned 70.
I wish you could do filming locations for part two. But unfortunately it's in Florida. Some people have done it but they aren't great. You line up shots perfectly
oh man glad you did this but yeah bro man, flash floods and monsoons are real in AZ -- mainly from June/July through Aug/Sept. if you film in AZ from about Oct - May, you're golden.
When they came in to Tucson in the opening scenes, they came in on speedway. You can see a yellow building. That used to be a strip bar. It was called the Follies. The burning fraternity house was filmed right next-door to the alpha-beta house. The fraternity that owned that house had a vacant lot right next to their building. They constructed the burnt out building in the vacant lot on the east side of the alpha-beta house. Alpha Beta was a tongue in cheek joke. There was a supermarket chain across Southern California, Arizona, and Las Vegas called alpha-beta.
Clap your hands, everybody. Everybody clap your hands. We're 80s, 80s, 80s Life, and we've got a show for you. We've got some rocking memories, and some high-tech vids, that will remind you of movies from when you were all kids. We've scouted out all the scenes and sets, we'll give you nostalgia without rest. If there's an 80s film that you've ever seen, drop Kurt a line and then watch your RUclips Screen. And just when you've thought, you've seen them all...you'll find that obscure scene that they filmed at the mall. So if you give 80s Life a chance, you'll find yourself wanting to watch, and dance. Break.....
I like these kind of videos. Funny now days its cool to be a nerd, in the 80s it wasn't....my high school days 😅😂😆 part two of Nerds i laughed when Ogre sats "What if C-A-T really spelled DOG? When he was hanging with the nerds on the island
Another great video. Your introduction made me think it wouldn't be as good as some others but it was top notch! I heard somewhere that they used a walrus or some other large marine mammal's noise for Booger's burp.
I went to the U of A about 18 years later. The gym always makes me chuckle. I was only ever in there twice. The my first and last day. On graduation day they gave a few thousand of us about 20 min to get into alphabetical order.
I lived in Tucson in the late 2000's and Revenge of the Nerds was one of my favorite movies. Thanks for keeping the nostalgia going.
My #1 favorite thing about these kinds of videos is reading comments from people who have personal connections to the locations. 🙂
This movie was a true 80's classic. Awesome video n thanks for sharing. One Super Funny Movie

4:56 - I lived in Cochise Hall when I was a freshman in '88-'89. The jocks did not kick me out. Gotta say I still miss Greasy Tony's.
No charge for extra grease!
How cool. Nice to see so many of the buildings still intact.
Thanks for all the hard work you put in,I really appreciate it🇮🇪
Awesome! One of my favorite movies from the 80s, thank you for dealing with the weather to make this happen.

4:16 The guy hanging someone over the balcony "Donald Gibb"...he played "Jackson" in "Blood Sport" alongside Van Damme...He also went on to play "Ogre" in the next instalments of the "Revenge Of The Nerds" franchise....
thanks
Ogre's given name in the movies was Frederick Aloysius Palowski and he ended up joining the Tri Lams at the end of 2.
Great Video and Great Job!! :)
Awesome video Kurt,the nerds rule!!
That's my town! Nice job finding all that.
Revenge of the Nerds! Awesome!
I Love this movie Thank you for this !
I was in Tucson in January 1984 when filming began for this movie. I lived over on 29th street a few miles southeast.

I went to the University of Arizona and studied film and theater. In fact, one of my professors was one of the girls in the Row Row Row your boat scene. I went to UOFA in 1995 and I had a awesome time in college. UOFA is a bad ass college
My grandfather was Construction Coordinator on that movie. I remember him being on location in Tuscon and calling my mom telling her about the "dumb college movie" he was working on. LOL! Great video!
Great video. Love this movie! Your voice sounds just like the late great Norm McDonald.
Booger owned Ogre in that burping contest. One of my favorite movies growing up.
Absolutely! Thank you for watching
I always like the video before I watch it because there is no way you will ever make a bad video.
Ah wow. Thank you so much for that!!

according to your username you would have been in the Javelin competition with Lamarr
Love your work.
I went to UofA during the filming and was on camera for about a half second. You are correct, the carnival was in the "mall' which was the grass area in the middle of campus. They had an annual "Spring Fling" carnival there every year.
I remember Spring Fling, went every year.
Great video!!! I am a Tucson native and a graduate of the University of Arizona. So many awesome memories...
"And Lewis is talking to Betty who's sitting on the front porch, and it's kind of hard to see now because of the bushes in front of it..."
LOL
They were the Pi’s after all
I met Brian Tochi (Takashi) last Saturday at the Florida Ultracon., amazing guy, one of the coolest celebrities I ever met.
As a 80's kid I love these vids. New to the channel. Have you done any vids on One crazy summer or Better off dead? On another note those were the first 2 80's movies that came to mind. Total coincidence that they are Cusack movies.
Love all your nostalgic videos You're the best.

Thanks. I always thought that "Revenge of the Nerds" was filmed in California. I was wrong. I love this movie!!!
Fantastic video man. And this is like having your favourite movie locations being narrated by Norm MacDonald....
Great video once again. Your care for details is just amazing!
Thank you so much! I try.
Im in Tucson. this is pretty cool to see.

I remember the black and yellow strip bar at the bottom of the exit ramp. I lived off Euclid not far from Tony’s unbelievable cheese steaks.

Another great video. Your introduction made me think it wouldn't be as good as some others but it was top notch!

COOL DUDE!!!
