In Australia we would call this a 'Safe' that is a food safe (Larder cabinet) to keep rodents and nasties out of our supplies .You always pick interesting things to restore. Keep up the good work👍👍👍👍
My grandmother had one in the kitchen and Mom and I had one that was out side the kitchen window we kept milk and butter and sandwich meat out there that was in Portland Oregon grandma was in Burr Oak Kansas. How my life has changed Mom was born in 1918 and died in 2014 she lived 96 years and 17 days. Life just keeps changing for all of us. 🧑🏼🦳🌵👏🏼👍🏼🇺🇸
Классная работа, получился отличный шкафчик из хлама, по сути. У вас действительно золотые руки. Хорошо что не закрасили текстуру дерева❤ спасибо за видео, ваша работа очень вдохновляет
It never ceases to amaze me how you can take the most beat up, ready for the trash piece of furniture and make it look new again! Your work and videos make me happy 😊
Spectacular restoration! You worked a miracle on that piece. My grandmother had one that stood on legs that she called a “pie safe”. Ken from Alabama USA
Огромное МЕРСИ, уважаемый мастер, за ваше терпение, талант и золотые руки! Как всегда было потрясающе увлекательно наблюдать, как из зелёного чудовища возродилось великолепное творение! 👍❤️👍❤️👍❤️👍❤️👍
This was one of the most beautiful restoration videos I have seen. I can’t believe the end product, your attention to detail and craftsmanship is awesome.
What a cool piece!! I love that you could see beyond that awful green mess and knew there was something worth saving under there!! It's now perfectly restored with all it's antique charm still intact!! A beautiful job!! Thank you for sharing!!
Excellent! Obviously not an heirloom piece but it has a story and it shows! I honestly didn't have much hope when I saw how warped those panels were. Great job!
I love an antique pie and baked goods cabinet! They work wonders. We live in a farmhouse with no AC and I still use this kind of cabinets every time I make bread or pies or any baked goods anytime of the year that the windows are open.
This piece looked like a real challenge n you did it beautifully. I have to agree with the person in Australia saying this was a food safe. Here in America they made much larger cabinet size that they called pie safes. I’m sure you’re aware of that. I’ve never seen something like this piece n I wish I had one. I love my antiques. It looks just like the day it was born. Fine craftsmanship. It’s a beauty! ♥️♥️🥰👍👍👍👍🌟
You have once again stolen my heart. What a fabulous, original, authentic piece of restoration. The techniques you use are fabulous and you are a real artiste. Regards from Scotland.
Very cool. I really like the finished product. It definitely beat that green monster you started out with. I would have never thought that gluing those cracked pieces of lumber would work. awesome and beautiful. A fine job there, sir!
I was hoping he was going to put an apple pie in at the end. My grandmother's back porch was filled with pies on Thanksgiving....apple, pumpkin, pecan. I have some of her bakeware and it always reminds me of her no matter what I make in it.
Screw deformations are what I hate most when I repair furniture. I am not a fan of comrade Mao, but he was right about one thing: "To straighten a stick, you need to bend it the opposite way." True, he did not say this about repairing a cabinet. 🙂 You have done a great job, I am happy to give you a Like ha video.
My great granny had one of these in that same colour. She called it a 'meat safe' (no refrigerators for most people in the 1950's) it was kept in the cold of the pantry which was basically a small cellar under the house. It kept flies etc off the groceries. It was painted with lead paint to deter mice from chewing through the wood surround of the door
Great job. One comment, when your shaping warped wood I’d recommend many more clamps. Noticed you had a straight line of clamps but for wood this deformed many more would be helpful. Saw that it was still warped on the outside edges after your steaming/bath. Of course there may have been other issues on the unedited version that I don’t know. Just letting the viewers know. 👍🏻😉

We also had one in my childhood home in Cape Town, for the same reason. But that was a looong time ago!
We call it a pie safe here in WV USA
Yes in the uk we had meat safes, kept the flies away from food and meat, you definitely need them in Oz thank goodness for fridge nowadays
@@katherineharper-sj4ysmost southern states call it a pie safe
We had it also in Greece!
I LOVE your videos because there’s no anodyne, meaningless music and no endless chattering. And you do great work. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thank you 😊🤗
From California: love the cabinet. Job well done 👌
Thank you 😊

Looks like a lovely pie safe underneath all that horrible paint. Thanks for breathing life into this piece.
Классная работа, получился отличный шкафчик из хлама, по сути. У вас действительно золотые руки. Хорошо что не закрасили текстуру дерева❤ спасибо за видео, ваша работа очень вдохновляет
It’sma pie safe-used to store baked goods, butter, etc. safe from rodents, flies

WOW~ When you say you will RESTORE, you REALLY MEAN RETORE and make it BETTER than the original! Well, well done! It is BEAUTIFUL now!
Thank you 😊
В целом - не сложная, но очень кропотливая работа. Из такого хлама, который многие бы выбросили или сожгли бы, Вы сделали произведение искусства!
Спасибо 😊
Beautiful restoration, especially using wood instead of metal to attach the mesh. Bien trabajo!
Thank you 😊🤗
I was raised in Oklahoma and both grandmothers had a pie safe in their kitchens. They were always painted. You did a beautiful job on this piece.

You disassembled the piece in to what to me looked like a pile of firewood. Then magicked it back together in to something beautiful. Genius!❤️
