    RUclips's Biggest MCM Challenge Playlist - • RUclips's Biggest MCM ...
This is a link to the playlist with all of our videos in one place - grab a coffee, tea, or a bourbon, sit back and watch every one of these talented artists.
This week I have the honor of participating with some of the greatest furniture restoration artists in the world in RUclips's Biggest Mid-Century Modern Challenge. We were challenged with taking something ragged and creating a beautiful MCM styled piece using our own individual techniques and talents.
I did not have a MCM piece to work on so I made my own from a dresser I have had since I was a child. It is from the same time period but it is not considered a mid-century modern style. In this video, I changed all that!

What a transformation! Leave the band at the bottom but I suggest staining the light strip at the top and bottom the same cherry as the rest of the piece. The long horizontal drawer pulls work really well, and although I like the circular pulls at the top their shape only references the shape of the legs. I think a shorter version of the big pulls would work better. Even better yet would be ones that are square that echo the squares in the bottom band. Nonetheless, you've done a remarkably successful alteration of 60s dresser and brought it into the 21st Century.

Wow! Definitely a labor of love. That dresser found great fortune when it found your mom & you. There are so many brilliant projects in this challenge. For your determination, perserverance, & redesign of a piece that most would have trashed or salvaged, I'd have to give you the blue ribbon. Its not my favorite piece, but your effort showcases the best of values in the current furniture rehab movement.

I just found your channel and plan on watching all your videos. I just started watching furniture repair videos. I like yours because you work at home with basic tools. I have 4 projects I am trying to learn how to fix a small Victorian table with 1 missing & 1 broken leg, a modern chair with a broken leg, a rocker with broken cane seat and a treadle Singer sewing machine case that has missing pieces and parts. Most have been in our shed for years except for the modern chair which our 6'5" 200lbs son sat in leaned back and broke, so to keep the peace of his newlywed family I grabbed it and said i'd fix it. I have no workshop and no big tools but with my insomnia & much determination, I am learning how to fix furniture. Thank You for your very informative channel!

Hi. Thank you for the very thoughtful message. Good luck with your projects. If I can pull off some of these repairs, you absolutely can do so. Thanks in advance for watching my other projects. If you want to see a caned chair repair, I put a video out last summer of a rocking chair on which I had to repair a caned seat. It might help to show how easy it is to do. Good luck!! 🍀
