You guys are just great. I just installed a brew basket $4.98 maintenance kit after about 10 years of near daily use. Simple to install and the price is really fair. I think your Moccamaster will be making superior coffee for my grandchildren when they inherit it. Great product. Great company.
I watched this video after finding a spring in my sink. Followed the instructions in the 2nd half of the vid to put the spring back in place and my basket works good as new :)
Wow, excellent video. I found the spring in the dishwasher today and thought “I’ll have to order a new one, because surely this can’t be fixed” But not only was it fixed but the manufacturer themselves posts a video of how to get it back in there. Awesome! Thanks for this
I followed the instructions exactly as shown in this video, but the basket leaks in the closed position worse than it did before the replacement. Yes, it is installed correctly per this instruction. The metal arm apparently is not long enough to push the gasket strongly when in the closed position.
Our Consumer Relations Team would be happy to help you troubleshoot the issues you are experiencing if it's not too late. Please give us a call at (855) 662-2200 or email us at info.us@moccamaster.com - we're confident we can help!
Ive had the Moccasmaster for a few weeks now. The spring and the arm have come off TWICE after removing the brew basket. The way the spring sits on the brew basket makes the possibility of this happening often. Pretty bummed about the quality of this.
Hi Andy - The spring and arm can only be easily knocked out of place if they are reinstalled incorrectly. Hello. I have a Moccamaster that I bought some 13 years ago and I have to say it's the best coffee maker I've ever had. So I would like to know if I can dismantle the tank by removing the 2 screws in the bottom of the tank. I want to clean this tank properly but I'm not sure if I do something stupid if I do that. The machine is working fine, I just want to do some maintenance on it and remove this white stuff (lime?) at the bottom of the tank. And, as a European, (Norway) where can go, online or in person, to get spare parts if I ever need them? TIA.
Hi there, this is the link for the Brew Basket Manual Drip-Stop Replacement Kit: us.moccamaster.com/collections/kbt-coffee-brewer-parts/products/brew-basket-manual-drip-stop-kit
I have been considering this expensive coffee maker, but what really surprises me is that it doesn't have a permanent filter, instead of having to use paper filtres.... therefore something else to buy and to store. I wonder why that is?
Thank you for the question! We don't recommend using permanent wire-mesh type filters, as they can quickly clog with coffee oils, and are difficult to thoroughly clean. A clogged filter may result in your brew basket overflowing or steeping the coffee too long, potentially resulting in over-extracted bitter-tasting coffee. For more about filters and our recommendations, take a look at our blog post: us.moccamaster.com/blogs/blog/5-things-you-should-know-about-coffee-filters.
I don't get it. I have watched this video at least 10 times and still can't get things lined up and snapping into place correctly. Each time I do force it, the plastic stopper is yanked too high and the lever does nothing... Can you guys please consider making a video that clearly shows how we need to be doing this with closeups of each motion? I'm usually pretty handy at building furniture /setting things up but these instructions are not sufficient, and I am getting frustrated with this thing.
So no matter where I put my basket or my carafe the coffee never flows directly into the carafe, it hits the lid of the carafe. It's not alot but enough to create splatter on my wall & machine. I thought it was normal till I watched videos of other's.
Hi Mandy - It is completely normal for your coffee to drip at an angle, and not directly into the hole of your destratification tube. The carafe lid is designed with the lip around it so coffee can be guided to the hole. However, if it's splashing farther than it should, we recommend reaching out to our Consumer Relations Team at (855) 662-2200 Monday through Friday from 9 am to 6 pm EST. They would be happy to help you troubleshoot this issue!
@@MoccamasterUSA I don't have a problem with coffee splashing away from the lid, it does get funneled into the tube, but I like to position the carafe in the center of the heating pad so I can hear the coffee dripping directly into the bottom of the carafe.
For such an expensive coffee maker.. and a great one at that.. why hasn't this basket design been redesigned? It is absolute worst design ever. Some things don't need to be changed when they work well.. (the old spring plunger design) we've often had stupid issues come up where somehow the flow stop lever was left down when we start a brew.. and of course it gets the coffee ground everywhere and makes a big mess. Redesign this part!
Hi Dr.DIY. It sounds as if you may have a Moccamaster with a Manual Adjust Brew Basket. Of course, it will be important to ensure that the Brew Basket is in the correct position before brewing or you will run the risk of overflowing the Brew Basket. We sell a Drip Stop Replacement Kit that will completely replace the sliding mechanism if you find that the functionality of the Brew Basket has been compromised.
@@MoccamasterUSA wait, I don't want to replace the same crappy manual mechanism to have the same crab happen again. Why isn't there an auto stop feature I can replace it with
I have 2 Moccamasters and hate those godawful baskets. They ruin the experience. I don't care what anyone says to try to justify them. They are a poor design. Over the years (20) I have had plenty of failures. What a mess. And if you have guests you must beat that info into their heads if they are using it. And the foot plate. That's a poor design. You can't move the unit around without having to deal with it after. I had to replace a carafe because it lost its vacuum. Expensive. As much as I like the coffee maker I think that for the price point it could be designed better. I won't buy another coffee maker made like this.
@@tristanwwsd I ended up actually removing the whole mechanism of the manual drip stop feature so it just pours out of the hole at the bottom. Works perfectly now.. only downside is you have to make sure the coffee is done pouring before you pour your cup.

Just take it apart and give the metal spring a small bend downwards so it will push harder when in closed position.
Wow !! That was easy Delicious coffee again Thank you..

Does somebody have film on the perfect moccamaster coffee dripping? Should it "drip drop" or rather "run through", for lets say half a litre?
I can’t figure out how the tab interacts with the metal “spring”
