What should I use to remove the white deposits on the basket, etc.? Leftover descaled or cleaning water? Durgol? Thanks!

The carafe doesn't insulate. It gets fully as hot of the coffee and loses heat right away I'm sort of tired of cold coffee can it be taken apart and fixed?

A little confused. The manufacturer of the cleaning solution says to sprinkle the powder in the brew basket, NOT to run it through the brewer (like you do with the descaler). I contacted Moccamaster and they confirmed this is true, contradicting the directions in this video.

When she says “Do this two more times to complete the descaling process” does she mean twice more with the descaling powder and then rinse or just two more times rinsing with just water? Confusing.

If Moccamaster decided to make their first automated drip coffee machine I think it will be the best quality out of any machine ever made

I used a dishwasher pod (I cut it open and dumped in contents, but perhaps you don’t have to) and hot water. Worked like a charm! Thanks so much. Great tip.

Your answer about a plastic Moccamaster Coffee Filter Basket is BS! You don't make a stainless basket because of COST. Any time you heat plastic over time at these temps, you eventually break down the plastic to where it leaches into the coffee.

The fact that video on this topic has to be released shows this product is not working properly. Have had dozens of other coffee makers and they never had overflow issues.

AVOID the Moccamaster KBT. Their thermal carafe shatters and Moccamaster's warranty does not cover it. Had it for 2 years using it on weekends, shattered yesterday. Customer service's response was almost insulting. "The borosilicate glass lining can be easily damaged when it comes into contact with anything abrasive. The carafe is not covered under warranty. We are happy to offer 20% off and free shipping on a replacement. An invoice with a discount applied has been sent. Once completed, you will receive tracking information." If the carafe so delicate why sell it? The only thing my carafe came in contact with was: hot water, coffee grounds, dish soap and an Ikea soft bristle dish brush. And gall of their customer support believing I would repurchase another carafe if there is no warranty… I have no nice words to reply to that… For a $340 coffee maker, I expected much better.

I can’t figure out how the tab interacts with the metal “spring”

Everyone commenting on the power button seems lazy to me and I don’t want them to ever be in my employment, this is an amazing grinder.

I watched this video after finding a spring in my sink. Followed the instructions in the 2nd half of the vid to put the spring back in place and my basket works good as new :)

Does somebody have film on the perfect moccamaster coffee dripping? Should it "drip drop" or rather "run through", for lets say half a litre?

This is a joke of an answer. Moccamaster - you should step up your game, get rid of the cheap plastic janky brew basket - or at the very least offer an upgrade for a high quality non plastic brew basket.

OMG. ive always used the urnex descaler but never the cleaning powder. Lets just say after that cleaning powder my mochamaster had mochaoscopy!! The stuff/crud that came out was horrifying

So does anyone know of a filter that can be purchased elsewhere (glass, porcelain or stainless steel), that can be used with it? I'd buy this machine, but won't without the option of replacing the filter basket. Thanks in advance for any responses.

But typically the basket could be rinsed out between brews bringing the temp down if need be, right?

Just take it apart and give the metal spring a small bend downwards so it will push harder when in closed position.

I've yet to figure out why the moccamaster I use fails to brew anything decent any more. It's hit about 20 years old and all the internals after dismantling appear brand new, still. Thorough cleanings, flushes, scrubbing, different types of water. But, as soon as the hot water pumps out of the nozzle, it has a horrific smell and the coffee smells like toxic waste, every single time no matter the type of bean, which are fresh. The only time my coffee smells okay is after the beans are ground. Coarse/fine, makes no difference. Everything I do tastes like shit. I think I've given up on it. I cant figure if its the area/water or what. I figure I get about 1 great batch of coffee out of my machine in a year. Honestly, I'm quite sick and tired of all the plastics in everything. Heat up some plastics, yea, it smells awful and for some reason, its all I taste. Hell, I even tried french press, waste of time.

Mix 1/4 cup hydrogen peroxide, 1 cup baking soda and add boiling water to the mixture ( fill to the top) let soak for an hour and wipe clean and rinse. This worked on my carafe and it was really stained, looked great afterwards

I'm the one who ignored the recommendation of using citric acid. 😢 Now, after a few dozens of cycles coffee still has that acid taste 😢😢 Do you have any recommendations on how to get rid of that acid taste?

I used baking soda. Put hot water in the carafe, shook in some A&H baking soda, let sit for an hour. Repeat. The carafe was completely clean!

Do you recommend that I stir the grounds while the brewing cycle is happening?

I choose to use RO water to brew coffee and I have zero build up. That said, I still do clean my machine but I have virtually no mineralized buildup.

Can I brew pots back to back if I need more coffee?

In scandinavia the user manual still says to use Clean drop-descaler (10 euros for 40 grams of citric acid...), which leaves a bad aftertaste due to copper and citric acid not doing well together. But you still say not to use citric acid. What gives?

That’s a bs answer. This is a machine for home use.

Unfortunate that it doesn't have a grind time setting. I don't know anyone that would want to stand around holding the button. I'd have bought this in a heartbeat, but my Virtuoso has a grind time setting and the KM5 doesn't 🙁
