  • Should we let all pubs stay open till 1 am?
The Home Secretary will let pubs close later if England or Scotland make it to the Euro semi-finals this summer.
But should we just let pubs stay open late all the time?

A lot of pubs closed when they banned smoking, but no one wants to admit that!
Then you could vape, so some relief, then because some people kept whining about that, they stopped vaping to, so those of us who like a cigarette or a vape when we have a drink can no longer do so in comfort, so we said f..k it, and do not bother!!
I have spoken to many many people who no longer bother because of this, that had to ruin it for everybody!
So this is what you get pubs closing down, so i could not care less about them staying open, never go in them anymore!

We had 8 pubs in our village there’s only 2 left now they have slowly closed one by one…and yes totally agree who wants to go stand out side in winter to have a smoke and pay nearly £5 for a pint

I think one of the best laws in some US states is holding those who give/sell alcohol to someone who knowingly gets behind a wheel drunk. With noise laws it certainly makes establishments more responsible. Let pubs open 24 hours a day so those who work shifts can still stop in for a drink, but have laws in place to make pub owners/landlords responsible for overdrinking and not taking car keys away from patrons.

To be honest it’s too expensive to go a pub

How do young bar staff getting minimum wage get home when they can’t afford a car let alone parking, no public transport after midnight unless you are in a big city and even then the safety issues of walking home in the middle of the night? Good luck

And they wonder why nobody wants to do hospitality jobs. Crap hours & crap money

She's right, the fact that people can't afford to go out anymore is a bigger problem than the opening hours of the pubs. It might be a great idea for tourist areas but I think pub owners should be free to choose their own opening hours.

Depends on licensing normally. A few pubs in Wakey are open until 1am.

I live in Denmark and many of our pubs are open until around 02:00 on Fridays and Saturday evenings/nights and some are open until 05:00.
We can see that many young people arrive around 22:00 and go on/home when it closes at 02:00
It would be an economic disaster if they were to close at 11:00 p.m., as many young people would instead drink and enjoy themselves privately

Would love in Denmark. The drink prices sound scary though

I think it’s pathetic.. London live a little. People don’t go out in London BECAUSE they know it’s all over before midnight. So what’s the point going out for just a couple of hours?

Many of the local pubs stay open. They just have lock ins. But people don’t go out like they used to ie every other night for a pub quiz or a game of darts or pool. It’s too expensive in this cost of living crisis to spend that much money on entertainment. Now it’s more of an every other week thing. Or if weekly it’s in and out for two drinks tops.

In history more than 5 thousand years ago Esau was Palestinian. His brother Jacob was Israeli and they fault the same as today.

Opening till 1am amd 3am is only going to make people with drink problems worse
They had the great idea of allowing betting offices open till 10pm I can tell you it made peoples gambling problems much worse as well as having everything off the streets in those places causing trouble in the evenings
Some pubs do have security but not all and it's the staff who have to deal with these people sadly people here don't behave themselves as we have seen Germany even want to ban our football fans from going over there
