I have a question: first day I bought ROG Ally z1 Extreme, I installed fc25 on it. I do 100% remember I used to see 110 fps when I play a match. Then a friend of mine asked me to lower all settings including the refresh rate and fps to 60.. two months later I went back to the original settings of 120 RR and no limit fps. However, the game is never reaching 90 fps niw
I don't get why you would need a new ssd. It comes as either 1tb or 2tb. Plenty of space. What are the reasons for saying we should get a new one right away?
You can find a 2TB SSD on sale for less than what it would cost to get it outright in the Ally X. But why stop there? You can go for a 4TB SSD or greater. What's the main reason? It's customization and making the handheld what you want it to be. If you're happy with 1TB or 2TB, then good on you. I had a 1TB and went to a 2TB so I could do a partition and run BazziteOS on one of those partitions. It's your handheld. Use it how you see fit.
Armory crate does such a good job what benefits would we really get ditching windows? Hibernate works good enough and the quick menu has pretty much everything i want. I did try installing bazzite on the win mini and kept gettingstuck installinf after booting from the flash id get like 5 lines of code on that matrix screen and it'd just sit there. Win mini motion assist was driving me nuts gyro wouldnt work at all and wasnt able to update it and i really tried and theres not many videos out about it. Ended up just returning it as even at 12 watt's the thing gets unreasonably hot and having an 8840u in a device like thats a waste as its shell and cooling cant handle what that chip needs to shine.
I’m having trouble with the rog charging dock not displaying anything on my TV intermittently. I’ve tried several HDMI cables but I can’t get it to work as intended. The desktop displays fine, as do a lot of games but for some reason some games like Tekken 7 just won’t work at all. I’ve ordered a HDMI 2.1 certified quality cable to see if that helps.
add a tutorial for lossless scaling. i have my m2 button set to a hotkey to toggle lossles scaling on and off and i can run literally a n y t h i n g smooth on the ally x with 12gb of ram allocated to vram
There is an ASUS Cloud Recovery that happens when you boot it up for the first time. 1. Once you swapped the SSD and closed the unit, plug in a charger. The little orange LED will turn on. If you don't do this, the unit won't turn on. 2. Boot up the handheld, it should go into BIOS. 3. In the BIOS screen, hit Y, right on the D-Pad, Hit A and initiate ASUS Cloud Recovery. That should install Windows and Armoury Crate. If you don't have anything that you backed up, then you don't need to backup any data. The length of time depends on your WiFi speeds.

@baldlyrudy i get what you selling for but all games are windows optimised not linux. Its just another propaganda like any other on youtube to buy whatever is not needed. And linux super unstable and breaking prone.
@skyhighdaylight Proton completely negates that entirely. The only thing that prevents some games from running is anti-cheat software. I can only talk about my own personal experience from using Linux devices, including those running Linux and SteamOS/BazziteOS. But I haven't had a game crash on me since the Steam Deck first came out in February of 2022.
