This is a special watch, if he loves Interstellar, then I think he will love it for sure. Even if he’s not a fan of the movie, I think he will like it simply because it is a good watch.
You made a great decision. Apart from the movie reference, it is a beautifully made watch. He will love it. Congratulations, you will definitely see a big smile on his face. 👏👏👏
The Hamilton Murph 38mm Interstellar Khaki Field Watch represents of best of America. Simple, practical elegance, to be dressed up with a suit or dressed down with jeans and a t-shirt.
That's a stupid thing to say. America is a obnoxious land (positively), its all about loud brass bands in Las Vegas and big shiny Cadillacs. There's nothing gentlemanly or reserved about the US.
@@Watchreviewblog thanks for the reply. Disappointing that Hamilton continues to not offer quality AR in their pieces. You'd think that's an easy fix/upgrade for them to do?
@@JimLecinski Agreed. Hamilton and Oris are both way overdue in bringing quality AR to their watches given that its so common on much less expensive watches from other brands.
BTW the H-10 in the 38mm has a Nivachron hairspring, the one in the OG 42mm Murph doesnt. So they're technically not the same movements even though they're both H-10.
@@_______________00 Yes! The hairspring is amagnetic (as opposed to anti-magnetic) and is impervious to timekeeping fluctuations due to temperature changes.
I know the Longines Spirit quite well having reviewed it before. I feel the Longines Spirit is quite different in the details when you look closely compared to the Murph 38mm. If you like that style of watch they are different enough to be together in a collection, although the general idea and vibe is quite similar.
@@Watchreviewblog this is what puts me into thinking. Should I go for it? You would as you mentioned. Longines is superior in many aspects but Murph can be the every day kind of beater?
Hello Guys, been following your content for a long time and shared few watch videos to my friends and one of them got a Nomos watch. Thanks for that. But Now, I am gonna buy my first automatic watch. For this, I had choosed a big arabic numeral WHITE dial and dot marked NAVY BLUE dial ( dark ). Which watch would match both casual and formal sessions ? I have dark brown skin and 6.7 inch wrist. Would you help me in acquiring my first automatic watch ? ❤ From India.
Other than the dial and the hands, is this watch significantly different from all the other Hamilton Khaki watches? Enough to justify a $400 price boost?
Great looking watch. The only Hamilton I'd actually consider buying. ...But, I feel like the crown is a bit large. Too large. Still, this is a great looking watch.
Have the 42mm and enjoy wearing it. It has only 2 flaws and they only fixed one flaw on the reissue 38 while introducing 2 new flaws (no Eureka and too thick). Absolutely NO reason for the 38 to be any thicker than the 42. The clunky lowbeat movement on both is a shame. Seriously considering swapping the movement to a smoother highbeat 2824 or SW200 movement. An $700+ watch should have a 28.8k bph movement.
This one wears like a dream on my small wrist, the thickness whether or not thicker than the 42mm is really not a big issue. I hear you on the rest though, those would be welcomed upgrades of course.

The mere fact that a reputable manufacturer is capable auf launching a mid-century style three-hander in Invicta size, exceeding many modern divers, totally discredits the brand to me.
I love the design...but its technically not a MURPH. Just saying. I'm still buying it though. 42mm was too big for me. I'm not calling it a Murph....its just a Hamilton Khaki Field.
I love the size, love the design, love the movie, even love the big crown but WTF is Hamilton doing with the lume?! How much does it cost to use the good stuff not this anemic shit?!
I saw your comment come in with so much love at the beginning, I knew there was going to be something you hated. At least it’s a step in the right direction for them but yes they could improve in the lume department.

Just bought this as a present for my father. Hope he likes it

I'm going to get one of these in the spring. This watch looks like it can pass for full-blown formal attire, so I am genuinely interested.
Beautiful watch, this will probably be the next watch I will cop.
Agreed, and great choice.
I purchased the watch at the department store for $600 with taxes. It was a deal I had to take
I guess I will have to buy!
Wouldn’t be a bad idea
hows the reflectivity? Hamilton says this one has AR coating, but crystal glare is frequent shortcoming across many of the Khaki line up.
It is actually quite reflective, was quite noticeable during filming with the lights as well.

I compared 42 and 38 at a shop. The manufacturer says 38 has an AR, 42 does not. In fact I did not see any difference

Congrats!

Hey, Nice video. Just wanted to ask what your wrist size is? Im looking to get one my safe and wanted some reference to see which version I want.
Thanks, wrist size is 6.5 inches

is this a Si hair spring version movement?
If someone has the Longines Spirit 40mm is it worth getting this because more or less both are kind similar in their arabic numbers and style.

lovely watch but i want a bracelet so bad for this watch . any tips ?
They are straight-end options but perhaps a Bonklip or a Forstner Rivet could look good?
Beautiful
This watch needs a NICE steel braclet! I would buy it!!!
That would be nice!
You are right
It comes with one as of today!
Is it the same case the 38mm Khaki Field automatic has? Best regards Oni
the case is not the same. the lug-to-lug on the khaki field is ~47mm, the lug-to-lug on this Murph is around 44mm-45mm.

Yes the case / lugs have been reshaped. Depends how much someone values that regarding the price increase.

I don’t see anything new and special about this watch (my opinion). Sorry but it’s not my cup of tea.
Ugly oversized push - pull crown, no screw down, no AR, no alternative strap.
I hate the slow ticking minute hand. It’s too busy with marking in between second hand markers. No one needs that.
