- Rest In Peace Mac!! Thank You for all the Music and Memories!!❤
Also Thank you to everyone that donated and shared the gofundme to help my aunt and uncle save their home. Sadly we weren't able to reach our goal and the foreclosure process has gotten to far for us to save our home. All proceeds donated have been giving to my aunt and uncle and will be used to help with an down payment for an apartment. Thank you everyone for the support!

still an amazing song and video, RIP Mac
I wish this song didn’t have this outro. Every time I put this on the aux and it ends I get the strangest looks 😂
Right !!!!
Then you don’t fully enjoy the idea behind it all
nick sanchez no I do actually and it’s a segue into the next song with Juicy J. But when I am listening to the song in my car or on a speaker load moaning isn’t exactly what I want to hear
nick sanchez Clearly you lack social cues ☠️ To the outside world, meaning or not, loud sexual moaning is very strange to hear blasting from someone’s car
this man really wrote a whole essay
I played this song with my family in car and almost forgot to skip the outro 😭
Lol
Rip
Lol one of my managers at work played the whole thing today
Lol! I'll have this on in the background when I'm working at home, and sometimes I do the same thing. Music ringing through the apartment, and suddenly.... "Ahhuh, I wan chu tew fuck me" rings through the air. Song is t i g h t though.
😂😂😂
This song is the reason I'm alive. When I was homeless, depressed, spiraling into suicidal thoughts I would play this song to keep me going every day. Mac Miller saved my fucking life and he doesn't even get to know. What the fuck, man..
powerful story

We know man. I've been there and it's ok just know you can't stay there forever
When times get hard, make sure you always fight that feeling.
🖤
Id like to say not fight the feeling, but to make ammends with it, it comes and goes, just like black and white, good and evil, life and death etc. Accept it and go on.
@@okat32 YOU are not your thoughts 🤙 much love
@@okat32 id like to say fighting the feeling of giving up is necessary if you want to do anything in life that is hard, not just when you are in bad times. I think he was saying it’s about learning how to fight that feeling of wanting to give up because it will benefit you once you put in the work. If you make amends with giving up you will have no drive not to fight the feeling of quitting.
Real shit
I've never regretted sleeping on an artist so badly

Let's remember we are never truly alone.
Homeless living in my car at local Walmarts and really needed to see that post, came to this song to fight through my depression right now. Thank you, your comment means the world. I know I can push thru, please like so I have the reminder.
Theres something about this beat that makes me feel weird and nostalgic
This beat is a trip for real

"a penny for your thoughts, a dollar for your dreams. A price for an idea, we never can agree."
@ThatOneDude 6969 and that your a potato
“They tell you what to know but it’s better to believe.”
Poetry
I still cant grasp the meaning of this.
A penny for thought is said when you want to hear what the other is thinking. Mac saying he wants to give a dollar for dreams is saying he would really love to hear you speak about your dreams. Going on with the logic of paying for thoughts and dreams, he wants to pay for hearing his ideas but they can't seem to agree on the price, just like when bidding for something lots of times you can't agree on the deal. Because in the real world an idea is something valuable instead of a thought or a dream, they can't agree on it.
Can we please get some fuckin' thumbs for Kendrick's lyricism here. RIP Mac. You will continue to live on.
Forever
I recently saw a snippet of an interview w mac and he said he tricked him into doing the verse so that must imply it’s freestyled which makes it even more impressive

Imagine this kid, Mac Miller, had Kendrick Lamar as a feature ON HIS MIXTAPE. Mac was a genius. This song still slaps hard, 10 years later. Macadelic is a masterpiece transcending Mac from fratboy rapper to one of the greatest musical geniuses of our generation. RIP Mac. 🙏🏼❤️
Kendrick wasn't so big when this song dropped, they were together at the XXL cypher, so basically both of them started at the same time.
It’s not fair. They took him too soon. I pray for his family.
This came out a few months before GKMC, which was Kendrick’s breakout album. Both of them were less popular beck then.
I was just thinking the same thing. Back before Kendrick was even really poppin. Mac was far ahead of his time
Mac actually blew up before Kendrick did, Mac Miller was highly respected by TDE as a whole ❤
I remember hearing this for the first time years ago.. Such a great Mac track, BUT also being intrigued by Kendricks verse.. didn't know who he was at the time, but that verse was very unique and had never heard anything like it. Then GKMC dropped later, but i ended up looking Kendrick up and found his previous work. Later learned these two were good friends. Both were such unique artists, TRUE artists. Just like Kendricks music evovled, Mac was also on the same path, we could hear his growth in his music, such a bummer he's gone too soon.
Listening to this song makes me feel happy and sad at the same time. What a trip
same bro really makes you wonder what the purpose of life is.

"You had the world and now you leave it to these young kids"
Yeah Mac you did that and "we gon show you what the love is".
mac was amazing man. started off with frat rap, then started experimenting with psychedelic, funk and jazz influence.
such an important person to me, rest easy.
most dope
Mac started as pure hip hop, see Kool Aid and Frozen Pizza. He may have went "Frat Rap" for a little bit when he first broke out nationally but dude was always hip hop to the core. That's why Hip Hop legends like Wu Tang, De La Soul, Pete Rock, Freeway, Talib Kweli and Cam'Ron among many others all did collabs with him in the early days before anyone outside of Pittsburgh and NY even knew who he was. Guessing you didn't know that shit though. Look em up, they are all out there on youtube if you care to look.
Frat rap. Haha you just racist
"Frat rap" is clearly a term used exclusively to denigrate white rappers. If some white people embrace that shit it's cuz they don't know any better. Calling Mac's shit regardless of how old it is "frat rap" is insulting his name and disrespecting the dead, and I'm not gonna sit here and let you fuckin losers do that.
I'm literally reading an article about the shit right now because I'm actually curious about whether or not I'm wrong, and you can literally replace every time they say "frat rap" with the words "white rapper" and it would read exactly the same.
@@sadpug8580 Mostly everyone was too lazy to look into his come up then, and Blue Slide Park had some fun shit on it that some might call "frat rap" like Party on 5th Ave, but the title song, Of the Soul, Smile Back, and Missed Calls those are hip hop gems bruh.
I suggest you look into the 58's, The Come Up, Beedie, and some of the other local Pittsburgh Hip Hop artists that Mac was Collaborating with and Competing against before he became famous. I get most people only saw what was on MTV, but there's a lot more to the story that people that are from the Burgh know and can validate.
Wish kendrick and mac collabed more back then, this was heat

Macadelic is a tape about the similarities in feelings between drugs and sex He mentions this in his most recent Breakfast club interview. He begins his day running, eventually thru the fields, (exhales symbolizing weed) and thru abstract structures to convey his visuals while he's high. After you notice him climbing stairs very fast and at the top blows snot out of his nose.(often done by cocaine users after excessive use.) His high plateaus and eventually he is sprinting down hill which symbolizes the come down of his high, which is often followed by depression and sadness( the rain that pours). This is a song about not being able to fight the feeling of drugs, and as emphasized in the end, an orgasm.
Luke Collins DAMN
beautiful interpretation my friend
philosophy and symbolism with good music
Luke Collins omg well put that was so beautiful
well but weed does not create such intense visuals
Bro im so convinced im the only one rockin with this song this heavy. anyone else still here in 2021?

Still here.
This video is amazing. Everyone has their own read into it but I think the creator made this to represent a person's life from start to finish. As the video goes on the individual running changes colors as time goes on representing the person changing as he gains different experiences. He starts by stretching and getting ready much like a child who can't walk or talk yet. As he turns to a shade of green he gets his feet under him and begins his journey as a self aware being, reading the world around him as he experiences it. He first finds himself with trees around him, I think representing a child's natural curiosity for organic life before technology and life complications (school, career, love) begins to naturally take over like it did for many of us. As he emerges from the wooded area it transitions from trees to geometric squares standing on top and along eachother, showing the realization of the true world around him as he grows older. He begins to recognize that cities and buildings are the true norm of life rather than the beauty of nature (ie. When you a youngin you're just trying to live your life and have some fun in a world where you have yet to see how evil it's become). Shortly after that realization is a long staircase that breaks off into what could be endless different avenues of staircases. He is now at the point where his youthful innocence is fading and is now faced with the uphill grind of the pressures of young adulthood. Having to figure yourself out, dealing with the social pressures of finding "success", making truly hard decisions about the direction of your life. The first part of many lives that is truly a struggle. (ie hard to have a dream when you're deep inside of one) basically saying, as you get older it gets harder and harder to hold onto your dream as more and more stress and pressure build up with age. He also sees others on this set of stairs who look exactly the same, showing his realization that he's not alone in this journey and many others are along the same path of struggle. We're not all that different at the end of the day. He finally gets to the top breaking away from his early youth. He's conditioned himself well enough at this point that it's not a constant uphill battle but he finds that what's waiting for him at the top is nothing but buildings and clouds. He's at the point where school and college is behind him and has found himself in a world where money and power is the primary objective for most of the population. A trap the whole world has fallen into. As he travels through this metropolis and experiences his life as an adult with a career surrounded by sky scrapers, a black bird swoops down and pesters him. This black bird represents death, a reminder of his mortality for at this age is where you begin to realize you are not invincible and death is an inescapable destiny. He finds himself going up a hill, with trees at the top. As he continues running, he finds a what looks like a gate into a beautiful private wooded area similar to the beginning. However this time, the trees represent his understanding that his desire for money and power really means very little at the end and the way he viewed the world as a child (placing your importance on friends, family and things that truly make you happy) is how he wants to live his life from this point. Ridding himself of the weight of the world. Hence why he enters this beautiful private forest and closes the gate behind him, essentially closing the door on his past and deciding to live his life like he did when things were much simpler. Making this decision makes his life easier as he is met with the first downhill journey of his life, but when you enjoy life time ticks much faster and at the bottom of the hill he is met with rain. The rain represents death as his life is coming to an end. A large door or opening is waiting for him on the other side of the rain which leads to a darkness then stars appearing one by one. This represents his death, his life has ended and his soul is now in heaven or the universe. At this point, the universe or the heavens is all around him as he looks around amazed at the vastness. What appears at first like the sun starts to rise you recognize that it's a large version if himself. I believe this is actually his child being born into the world, starting the next cycle and about to go on the same journey he was just on. Hence why he is yellow and transitions to shades of green exactly like the beginning of the video.
I think this is just a beautiful depiction of exactly what Mac says. You can't fight the feeling. Life is going to challenge you and make you do crazy things. But in a world where your surrounded by individuals on the same journey of struggle you're on, only thing you can do is keep moving and learn as much as you can from the your experiences.
Much love guys, hope 2022 is a year of growth for you all.
Bro are u an English teacher or sum?

Love that last little paragraph at the end. Reminds me a bit of what Mac was talking about it in Wings. You can’t gamble on the weather, as he put it in that song, but you can learn from your last experiences to better yourself. (Grow your “wings”, if you will.)

10 years and I still come back to this.
Mac you were an icon even before the day you died on. Thank you so much for lifting me up despite anything.
Most dope Mac.
I think I'm kinda understanding what the meaning of the video. When the dude turns green and starts running symbolizes when we are young and new to the world "greenhorn" if you would. When he gets to the forest he begins to turn blue, represents moving from adolescences to being an adult. Him running up the stairs symbolizes the race to the top of self actualization, you can see sort of the stressed look he get when he sees the other person running up because we always second guess if what that other person took the better path. The benches and wall setting represents stoping points or even road blocks in our lives, like where one would end up if they just settled with what they had or let ourselves get stuck because of a life event; the wall blocking off any hope of progressing to a new place. As for the crow, I think it represents a point in time where the running person almost died or had some horrible tragedy happen to him. While the dude runs up the reminding obstacles(the hill) he begins to turn purple it represents him becoming an old man who has gained wisdom through his experiences while running through was I believe is a pine forest which could represent peace in his elderly age. As for the him running through the rain it represent him finally passing away and running through the arch was him passing through to the after life. When he gets there it's dark but eventually he begins to see the rising sun and his color changing back to the original one he started with. It's a circle of life.
that's deep and thanks for explaining the video

Holy shit this 1 year later and Im still boppin this thx for the likes R.I.P. Mac Miller
Harry Holman nice profile picture
James Medlin thx
Harry Holman that ending is symbolic. Sometimes music isn't just a sounds it's meaning. He couldn't fight the feeling of pussy.
Harry Holman lol
Papi_vicc no the meaning is not fighting the feeling of his want/need to do drugs
RIP Mac won’t be forgotten ever, such a legend man
This song moves me every time I listen to it. Still can't believe your gone Mac. Cried for days because your music gave me hope in my darkest times.
This and "Sing About Me, I'm Dying of Thirst" I want played at my funeral.

Can we talk about how amazing that Kendrick verse was?
Facts
FR
Seriously though he snapped on this one , it kind reminds of the cartoons and cereal flow he has when stops for a sec and goes back in
0DD 1LL bro if I could listen to nothing but 2009-2014 Mac and Kendrick for the rest of my life I wouldn’t complain
I feel like that verse was from Kendrick to Mac a little bit
this song is legit god tier. one of the few songs that actually gives me the chills every time I listen to it.
For real
Just started cardio and endurance training to help with my anxiety and depression, I got to say this song motivated me to run longer
Mac’s music had the ability to take you back and reflect. It lets you open up to yourself and feel honest and accepted. He was a special artist that will be missed. His music and legacy will live forever
warning !! turn it off before the end if kids are around.

Thank you for leaving your legacy Mac ❤️
That makes me cry
@@demiladeolaleye8766 true! It's still hard for me because I listened a lot to him in really hard times of my life (sorry for the bad english)
I just really wish he wouldn't have left it the way he did. But like my dad used to say "wish in one hand and shit in the other. Which one fills up faster?"
This song is soo good but im so scared to play this song outloud because my anxiety would be so high to skip the song before yk what comes
24 years old, alone as always in this thing we call life!

What the hell I'm listening to this for the first time, here I am at work la dee da and then all of a sudden I'm thinking about life the universe and everything , all of a sudden I'm almost tearing up and ready to quit and go backpack around the world of something. Trip.
so do it. obviously it's what your heart of hearts desires
Then the next thing you know you start hearing people moaning xD
Maybe libertarian-socialism will interest you.
Yaaaaa I'm listening to this at work too. Moaning caught me off guard. Luckily I work in a pot shop, otherwise I may have gotten written up haha.
How did your co-workers feel at last part of the video? xD
When i listen to new music i always think “i dont like this as much as the stuff i used to hear years ago, probably because i overhype the music fron my high school era” but then when i listen to stuff like this it reminds me that people like mac and kendrick really are on some new next level shit that no one from any other era can compare to, this song is ACTUALLY cream of the crop kind of music man it always gets me feeling sad and optimistic and the flows and lyrics are so well put together on g REST IN PIECE MAC LEGEND FR
every time i watched this video i walked away appreciating how he didnt let bad shit (the crow, the rain) keep him from breaking his stride...but something that took me way longer to realize is that the same is true for all the good shit (appreciating nature, achieving self enlightenment) as well. moral of the story: life is a journey and you'll have bad days and good days, but the most important thing is that you never stop moving in one direction: forward.
