I had it on my wishlist since I watched this video when it came out. Finally I can say I have it in my collection and I am so thrilled!!! Rewatching this to get some extra info now that I have it.
I’m with Betsy! I own both lockii & multiflora and they aren’t my favorite foliage but the blooms make up for it. 🤣 current favorite is my Hoya chicken farm, possibly just for the name.
Ok but I love how in depth you go into the history of each Hoya. Like some other people have mentioned, I find information like that hard to find and it’s super interesting. Awesome vid 💛
This is my favourite hoya as well! I love how easy it is to bloom. Easier than multiflora. I rooted mine in water, it wasn’t happy in moss, it was becoming yellow as well.
Mine didn't want to root in water. Then again, I gave it like 3 days lol. It was a bit dehydrated from shipping and I never rooted this type of hoya so I potted it. It does bloom faster than multiflora, I love it!
@@BasiePlants I just got a Hoya Multiflora a month ago. (Received it in the mail Dec. 9th) it now has a peduncle ! As of a few days ago!!! So it’s getting ready to bloom and I’m excited! Is that a normal time frame. It looks to be about the same size as your Hoya Lockii. I also have it somewhat blocked from my grow light as I’ve heard they don’t like too much light …
If I'm lucky, I'll spot a Lokii somewhere here in the Fraser Valley - west coast of Canada. Some large nurseries are sprinkled through the area, so I'll do the sleuthing. The flowers are like shooting stars. Beautiful and zesty. Jasmine flowers have a similar spraying effect, I think, shooting out into space. LOVE it! Someone please stop me from getting more Hoyas, okay? You'll help me out here, won't you Miro? Hahahaha!💐
I watched this video a month ago and went on a crazy hunt for this Hoya in my area and finally got a cutting today! So excited thank you for spreading the word on such a cool plant
Love the look of the flower and that it smells like chocolate.. but my hoyas rarely bloom and the foliage of the lockii looks so thin.. which means I probably won’t get it. I like my hoyas thicc and succulent..
I think I’m late to the party but I’m glad I found your channel and this video. I got this hoya about 3 wks ago and it has a peduncle right now. Love your videos. 💚💚💚
Cool! Didn't know H. multiflora could come in such a different form. My clone has wider leaves and deep ruffles, and looks very much like a Coffee plant. lockii was already on my wishlist, but I'm moving it up after hearing about the fragrance.
Ohhhhh Miro!!! I'm so envious! She is gorgeous!!! H. Lockii has been on my wishlist (love the flowers but also the frilly leaves 😍) for over 3 years now but I've never found it at a price point I can afford. I'm in the EU so there is hope!
Hi Miro! I always love seeing your new (and old) videos. I do not have Hoya Lockii..........yet. :) I have taken some time off from buying new hoyas, it's been a whole 10 days! Ha!
My lockii is growing in my milsbo cabinet, still dark green with a few silver sparks here and there, almost the size of yours, in spagnum moss/perlite but NO pedunkel yet...(so I'll keep an eye on it for the good and the ugly)
Beautiful bloom! I don't have this one and the ones I have got so big but may be will bloom now.thanks for telling about this one.I will look for it.new subscriber and like.
So, my Lockii opened its first blooms last night (yay!). I don't smell any chocolate 👀 Smells like grass to me 🤷♀️ However, I must say that after the Krohniana debakel in which a single bloom turned the house into a public toilet odour wise for days, any scent that ends up not smelling strongly of pee is a win in my book 😅
@@BasiePlants mine has been in bud continuously since I got it. It's less than 10 inches high. My first blooms opened last week. No smell though..night or day. I'm putting Lockii on my list, would love to have those flowers with a scent.
Hoya lockii has unexpectedly become my favourite hoya of yours. At first I was also unsure about the leaves, but the flowers are amazing, and they make the leaves amazing too. Please do not trellis it :D ❤️
Hi Miro ! Wow my must have, Hoya lokii is native to Vietnam. I am a huge fan of Hoya multiflora. I always ask either padanca (peduncle) or multiflora. We Easy to flower is what I want. I don’t think they are available in Australia. I am not a fan of Hoya Imperialis flower. I am the opposite. I am very arty when it comes to trellis hahaha
I am not fan of H.imperialis anymore either. But I love multiflora and lockii :) I hope they grow big! And I hope for more clones of multiflora :) I hope you can find some in Australia eventually! Lucky you. My trellising game is very bad 😂
@@BasiePlants hahaha yeh I can see ! I have 3 small multiflora at the moment. I try to get more. They are not expensive but hard of find. I did miss out a few opportunity in the last. I thought that lady who has 400 Hoya in her apparent (from Summer RUclips videos) said lockii flowers last a month 🤔🤨🧐 the white colour is amazingly beautiful. The weather is stating to warm up here. I didn’t suffer a lot of Hoya dead this winter. I think Hoya needs attention. The one I neglecting tend to had root rot . I know so much about root rot now. 2 ladies in our group has root mealy bugs :-(. They both have ton of Hoya. It’s pretty scary. Hm I think I am gonna purchase a head mat for propagation hahaha I was wondering all through winter why rooting is so slow for me hahaha
Hi Nero, an advice pls, when you put the hoya lockii cutting in coco peat and perlite in prop box, you lift the cover a bit or totally closed and you will open the lid after some days? This is my second time of ordering hoya lockii and the leaves are dried after traveling. Please help me thankyou
Fun video as always 👍 regarding the trellising, have you watched Unsolicited Plant Talk vídeos on RUclips? She only has 2 videos published here and they are about hoya trellis - I found them very useful 🍃😊
Miro, I love how fun you make growing Hoyas! Can I ask you about my Compacta leaves please? At the base of each rope the leaves are one by one turning yellow and shriveling. Water issue? Light issue? Growing mix issue? I can’t lose this plant, I just can’t. Miro tell me what you think.
I would unpot it and check the roots. It sounds like roots may be the issue - it could be both over or underwatering. Both of these can lead to root rot. If the roots are gone, I would root the plant again, compacta is easy to root :) If you grow in organic mix, I think coco peat with lots or perlite and bark would do. You need an airy mix that will dry out fast so you could water more frequently. Hoyas in fact do like water, it rains almost daily where they are from, but unlike in our pots, in their natural habitat their roots get lots of air and water doesn't stay around the roots for too long. Hope this helps!
@@BasiePlants The roots seemed vigorous and found in good condition in a loose fine barky medium. I separated the worst vines from the healthy ones. I repotted the two groups into separate pots with coco peat mixed with pumice, orchid bark and coca coir chips. I have moved both sets to a top window facing south for more light and I hope for the best now. Thank you Miro 🙏
Hoya mafia.HA! It is beautiful though. im waiting on a Sheperdii, never really wanted one,but eh,why not right? I have a Patricia and it looks similar to Lokii.i LOVE my Patricia, its putting out a baby leaf now.

From where do you get so much in depth info regarding the Hoyas? It's simply awesome. The historical info is the highlight of your videos. Is there any website we can look up to? I refer Hoya study corner and website of Doug Chamberlain. Are there any other suggestions? TIA
Look for published papers on Researchgate. They are not always available to read but sometimes they are. IPNI and PlantsOfTheWorldOnline are great resources to and can sometimes lead you directly to original publications. P.S.The Hoyan is also available online :)
Dear Miro, can you provide us with an update on your lockii? Still growing in the same medium? Did it get "bushier"? Since mine was always drying out, I now transferred her into Pon. Do you think this was a mistake? Kindest regards from Switzerland
I think updating you on several hoyas is definitely a good idea! Yes, mine pushed out another branch that quickly caught up with the first one. It grows very fast and blooms all the time :) I repotted mine to 15cm pot because it was drying out too fast, in a mix with more cocopeat than perlite. Perhaps 60-40 or so. I don't think it is a mistake to put it in pon in self-watering, but it may need a moment to adjust :)
Each individual flower with bella should last about a week, slightly more :) But it is a great bloomer! So it can be in bloom for weeks, but flowers change. Lockii is known for having the longest lasting (individual) flower on hoyas.
