Discount code: TomleyRC Check it out here:www.fmshobby.com/products/fms-1-24-fcx24-max-smasher-rtr?ref=TRC A note about the decals… they are only $2.99 for a sheet 👌
@@TomleyRC I tried it in several ways with and without the stop, capital and lowercase and every time it told me it was an invalid code. I'll give it another shot.
This should be the FMS advertisement for these little beasts. This is the best review and running video I have seen of the FCX24 Mad Smashers. Excellent job Phil, I'm sold! Get the highspeed motor for them. I bet they will scream!
For waterslides, hold them with tweezers after you wet them and use q tips to slide them on to the surface. Micro sol and Tamiya have products that make it easier to manipulate waterslides when they're transferred to the surface. With these hard bodies it might even be worth it to put a topcoat on it.
Care should be taken before clear coating water slides. If decal fixing solution isn't used before clear coating, it can cause the decal to contract, leaving a crinkled mess. I found out the hard way!😄
Micro sol is awesome after you put water slides on. Make sure you don’t touch them though after because it basically melts them on to the plastic. Makes them look way more realistic and if there’s contours it has to form to it’ll do it way easier.
Waterslides - Buy Micro Sol and Micro Set - one goes on before the decal, the other seals it afterwards. Alternatively, paint on a little gloss varnish before you do the slide (let it dry before applying slide), then after it's dry, paint on some matt varnish (or more gloss if you want a shine). Cheers as always Tomley!
The oil shock mod on the FCX24 made a big difference on my rig. Crawls much better and does not bounce anymore. I just ordered a USA-1. It's cool that they use water decals, takes me back to my modeling days as a kid.
You can buy waterslide paper for your printer now so you can make your own decals. How cool is that? I made hundreds of models as a kid and put on more decals than I can remember. After a few years though they dry out and flake off. Then I discovered putting clear lacquer on top, locks them in. there's also a conditioner you put in the water too.
Impressive little thing. I have to say, though... my favourite thing is probably the body-mounting system. Very neat and clever! It is time that serious 1/10 scale/trail trucks start ditching body pins.
Phil, I built Aurora model airplane kits in the 70s, when I was 12-ish. The decals would be soaked in lukewarm water for about 30 sec or longer. After being applied, they'd be given 24hrs before touching them. Make sure the plastic is clean and handle the rear of the decal as little as possible. They look great because they can follow the smallest contours, looking just like paint. Yours shouldn't have come off so easily unless you didn't give them long enough to dry, or else the thickness of the decal is probably even less, nowadays, making them even easier to tear.
Tomley, my apologies for not commenting more often. But I am put of this world excited for these little Max Smasher’s to be at my door! Thank you for sharing a discount code. I am hoping to get a set for my sons this coming year. We will see how they take to the one I ordered.
Waterslides really need to be cleared over to add a protective coating. I also use tamiya fit strong to aid in adhesion especially to complex corners. They should also include a set of vinyl based ink printed decals. Waterslides are for static models.
Sick car dude! I need to get one… and maybe some more space in my garage 😂 also, your SOOO close to 100k! Anyone reading this needs to hit the read button!
Great video. These do what there real trucks do. I have to have one. Wash the body with dish washing liquid before putting on the decals. It may not help depending on how much oil is impregnated the plastic.
Well done for getting their first Tomley... Talbots is going to be all over that iam sure.. you did nothing wrong with the water decals... All you can do to protect them is lacquer over the top.. keep posting mate..👍🇬🇧😎
You can seal the water slide decals with a little white glue mixed with water and brush it over top. They will stick really good after that. Don’t use too much glue mixture or they lift off the model again 😂. Or they sell a product called microset which is a water slide decal sealer which leaves more of a matte finish.
Got to be said of ALL the channels I subscribe to, yours has convinced me to buy more goodies than any other, by a big margin. The HG's, the Kanyon and the Tracer/hbx. I just like the style and information content more than most 👍🍺🇬🇧
I’d there was some dirt in this, this could have been there marketing video. Great video! These are gangsta, not as gangsta as your Ganstaa Chevy but still. Awesome.
woooooo.. I need one, two hours ago I was thinking of buying myself a lunch box from tamiya to have a little fun, the nostalgia of my childhood is coming back at the moment, but it is a bit big for the house and the backpack on a walk). But, I just saw this superb mini monster truck, it is perfect for the house and the backpack!!! It only lacks a bit of weight on the rear and it will do crazy wheelies, think about adding the famous wheel on the rear axle!!! I order immediately. Thank you for the presentation, I am definitely conquered
For me water-slide decals stick on better if you spray clear coat over (*not under*) the decal after the water dried Also, clear coat is usually very durable so it also protects the decals from breaking
It's always a good idea to cover the decals with a satin varnish after applying them Phil. That helps to protect them and stops them from getting damaged.
Best way to protect the water slides is to spray a clear coat over them when they are dry. I'm gonna scotch bright the body before I apply the decals, then clear coat it to protect the decals and it will also make it shine good.
waterslide need to be put on a glosy surface to stick and prevent silvering, and they need a top of clear coat to protect them, they are great and look painted on after the clear coat but they are a little more work
Only way to make the decals last would be to spray them with clear coat. about time a manufacturer made this type of truck I'm sold. Thanks for all your great content and may it continue and grow🙂

Ah it's the blue one for me, love the colour and all the tricks
Love the retro Tamiya esk box art, I think this will stand out well on a shop shelf
BAD Tomley!! Making me spend money i want both of these.

Micro sol and Tamiya have products that make it easier to manipulate waterslides when they're transferred to the surface. With these hard bodies it might even be worth it to put a topcoat on it.
I was just going to say a coat of clearcoat is probably needed here
Also clean the surface first with an alcohol wipe.
@@making_randoms Some Alcohol wipes have moisturizer in them. Best to just use the alcohol out of the bottle. Dawn dish soap works best.
Care should be taken before clear coating water slides. If decal fixing solution isn't used before clear coating, it can cause the decal to contract, leaving a crinkled mess. I found out the hard way!😄

Caurion! That motor gets hot.
FMS is really knocking out a lot of rigs this year. Solid review and pretty impressive moon walks.
JUST WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WICKED VIDEO BUYING ONE TODAY
This is the one I've been waiting for. I've ignored every other video out there. Waiting on our dude's video.
Appreciate your loyalty Kevin 🙏
Prob the most realistic handling rc monster trucks I’ve seen of any scale 👌🏼🙌🏼
Wasn't interested until I saw this now I want one! Damn you Phil!
🤣🤣🤣
The blue one wins the freestyle event for me hahahaha
They are cool little monster trucks, wicked fun
2fmrc has already put the high speed motor in and it's amazing. You definitely need it and it's only $13
Clear coat over water slides for longevity 👌
The box reminds me of old Tamiya box art. That is so cool!
I'm amazed it has taken someone so long to make a decent mini monster truck.
These are just too cool! I've been holding off on getting a mini, but this might be the straw that breaks the camel's back.
Kevin Talbot would love this!

Waterslide printed decals… now we are talking!
What shock oil or weight did you use? I have tons of Tamiya oil in various viscosities laying around.
@@goldenmanuever1176 I uses 27.5. It was thick enough to dampen the shocks and didn't leak.
@@jdsrcs8061 Thanks for the advice. The 27.5 is around 300cst which is 1/2 between Tamiya soft and medium. I could mix them 50/50.
Those are cool. Neat rainy day trucks.
Awesome little trucks
They look pretty cool....I think me and the kid will have some fun with a couple of those.....
Blue one is nice, just need some scale bigfoot decals, white one looks nice too but USA-1 is a Chevy!
Thanks for the review - Mima got this for my 4 year old and it’s an amazing little crawler.
Great videos…🙏🏼❤️🙌🏼
Thanks Jim
I'd clearcoat the decals as you would on the static models by airfix and tamiya etc
Impressive little thing. I have to say, though... my favourite thing is probably the body-mounting system. Very neat and clever!

Yes, clipless bodies should be the norm
Cool looking truck

The original USA-1 monster truck was a Chevy Silverado. Not sure why they made it a 73-79 Ford ranger, but that's cool.
🤷🏼♂️😅
overspray with krylon clear for added protection ,probably a bit of grease and oil on the chassis rails as well ,wouldnt of helped them adhere.

wallpaper paste over those decals to make them more durable.
Where the hell have I been? Didn't even know FMS released a Monster truck 🛻 😝
Seal the decals with gloss varnish, a few coats do wonders.

Well dang. Now I want one!!
Wasn't sure about this one but seeing the wheel speed and options it's jumped onto my list 👍
Wow! Sold out already.
This would have been awesome when I was 12. As an adult it would get old pretty quickly. But still a cool product
I’ve gotta have these, both of em.
Ok next mini crawler is one of these, thats so sick
Have been waiting for this..... Yes... Just yes.... That Blue one needs to be in my life, on the alternate wheels, with locked diffs.....
Love yer show brotha!!!
Wow that thing is sweet!! Now you got me thinking 🤔🤣
Road to 100k followers🙏🙏🙏godbless from philippines
Thank you 🙏
Great video thanks you 👍 😀.
What I used to do on model cars after applying waterslide decals is spray gloss clear enamel over the entire body.
Oooof USA-1 based on a Ford style body… Everett Jasmer would be livid
They look like cool little trucks though
I think they look really cool I'd like to see it with 4 links and no portal axles then where talking monster trucks but definitely look awesome 👍
"CAURION HOT" Sticker on the motor 😅
