He made a lot of money on the back end of the major movies. A lot of production companies will pay the actor, actress less up front to stay in budget then pay them royalties after the movie does well. You will notice after a movie does well they get paid less or a little more than the previous movie for the sequel to get a bigger payday on the backend. Especially if the sequel can't be done without them then they can demand royalties which pay continuously long after it's released.
He makes an insane amount off small supporting roles and cameos in the MCU! Doesn’t even include his pay day for Secret Invasion. Whatever agent got him on the MCU bandwagon from day one deserves a raise.

I would argue that a movie that made 25 times its budget should be counted in the All Time Titan Group as well. Unsure what all goes into counting as an All Time Titan I know you aren't just looking at Revenue, but Pulp Fiction is not only a Cult Classic, it was a box office behemoth. It was Top 10 worldbox office for that year and one of only 3 movies that were R Rated In the Top 10. 1994 was a tough year man. Man now that I look through the list Sheesh Top 125 for the year has some heavy hitters. Might be one of the all time best years for quality movies.
Thank you for bringing this up, @Neog2! In my definition, an "All-Time Titan" is among the top 50 highest-grossing movies of the decade. In the 1990s, as you mentioned, the competition was fierce, so the entry threshold for an ATT was $300M. Pulp Fiction fell short of that, but as you said, it made a LOT compared to its budget, so it would be fair to call it a "Breakout Hit"-a term used for low-budget, highly successful movies that don’t achieve ATT status. I introduced the "Breakout Hit" label just recently, after this video, so Pulp Fiction missed it. I'm continuously refining my labeling strategy, and input like yours really helps, so thanks a lot for sharing your thoughts!
Can we appreciate that Sam took a massive pay cut to make sure Iron Man was a hit. After the marvel writers rebranded Nick Fury to look like him without his consent
everyone is looking at the paycheck but what is not being shown (no offense to this channel!) is the residual checks some A list actors get when their agent negotiates their deals. Those movie executives and producers rather pay low at first just incase the movie flops but when it doesnt flop, the actor gets a monthly or quarterly check from the residuals of the movie. now imagine how much money he is worth now. probably $800 Mil all together in realistic terms
Thank you for bringing this up, @rickygonzales-z4e! It's true that I can't find details on monthly or yearly residuals, but I do uncover long-term residual summaries-like the staggering sum Jack Nicholson earned for Batman. I can also find fairly close estimates of box office earnings cuts. Whenever there's a report about backend deals, I do my best to include those amounts in the paycheck figures I present.
Have you even watched these movies? He's made $80 million from marvel movies where he has only a handful of lines per film. He's playing a role that any 2 bit actor could play and he's turned that into a fortune plus I believe he was on the Marvel TV show too and has been in various other marvel works because of it plus probably video games and certainly commercials. All for playing a role that requires no acting.
A lot of acors get paid one of two ways, they take a full payout of a increased salary that comes out of the budget or they take a smaller paid salary from the budget and then In their contract they get payed off of residualcs, ticket sales by moviegoers, a percentage of themovies gross kind of like a commission and many other ways. So while his payout we saw in this video as an actor in his movies may not seem like a lot, this could only be a third of what SLJ really made.
You’re right, @noahgullion6391! That’s valuable input. However, I did my best to uncover all backend deals whenever there was a report about them and the sums I presented include these earnings too. Obviously, these numbers tend to grow slightly over time through residuals from streaming, etc.

For an actor of his skill, does not make sense to make so many flops just for a paycheck, it would be better to work on less films for more money and better received otherwise when the big opportunity comes, they know they can low ball him on his career.
You are completely wrong. He's kept himself relevant. He literally made 80 million+ from Marvel alone where he plays a side character that only has a few lines a movie. It's pretty genius. He's gotten himself in all the major blockbusters, and future blockbusters want to put him in and give him a fat paycheck for very little work, and now he's parlayed that into money from commercials too. Dude's made $376 in paychecks alone and he's not even a leading man. Even many leading stars have had careers that have come to a grinding halt and they were never even able to make this much.
He must of done Scorsese a favour and did goodfellas for free how nice of sam. Can you do Ray liotta Joe pesci Rob de Niro Val Kilmer Russel crow Jim Carey Charlize Theron Mel gibson Danny Glover Danny de vito Never campbell Mathew lillard Skeet Ulrich Courtney cox Renee zellweger

Thank you for pointing this out, @ossiespencer4982! I have certain criteria for movie inclusion, but it didn't serve me well in this case, I see that now.
I gotta completely disagree with you. It was absolutely genius for him to take that role for so little. Would have been even more genius if he had paid them $500k to take the role. So far he's made $80 million+ off that one role for movies alone, plus who knows how much for TV appearances in that role. Plus video games, and commercials. He only has a few lines in most of those movies.
I dont feel bad or think he was under paid and also u have to remember he is receiving insane royalty checks from all those hits he would be steaight alone just from the avengers movies and star wars
The trick is that he usually plays a very important role but with limited screen time. As a result, his paycheck is smaller. However, when you think about it, he works significantly less than the actual main characters in his movies. So no, he's not underpaid at all. - Also, the royalties are included in the figures you see in the video.
They forgot a movie Samuel Jackson played in the 1990 movie Goodfellas he played Stacks Edwards the guy who forgot to get rid of the get away van for the Lufthansa heist
Why would he get $20 million? If you've watched all these movies as I have you'd realize he's one of the most overpaid actors in Hollywood...not because he doesn't have talent but rather what he's been asked to do to make these ludicrously high paydays. Look at his role in the marvel movies, ffs.
Yes, well, sorry about that, @thomascontreras3650! I used certain criteria for including and excluding movies, but I see now it was a bad decision. Check out some of my recent videos-I'm much more thorough now.

Nice one, @profezzorx9131! Thanks for the idea!
A lot of his Domd movies recovered through DVD n VHS
Not really. Only in the beginning.after that he averaged 10 million per year or more. 2014 he got 20 mil. He made over 200million in 20 years.
Would you consider doing STEVEN SPIELBERG?
Of course, @MrRawwd! That's some exciting new direction for the channel. Thank you.
Will Smith
That's a good one, @playyer21! Noted!
The rock / will smith / vin disel / Robert Downey jr
Big guns, @Theoneandonlyjacobstyles! All listed, thanks. 😉
I need to see Keanu Reeves
Noted, @justinthomas8686! 😉
The Rock? Jason Statham?
Some big guns, @gecataluchev4232! I'll enjoy researching their figures!
Captain Marvel cameo?
Well, that was more than just a cameo, @ИисусУмный-л5я! Amd he got $10M for it.
I didn't know xxx had part 3
@Somebodys-unc Don't expect too much from it, but it's definitely worth a watch.
Mr Jackson is that your DNA it's gift because all of your relatives are doing the same but you extremely
He must of done Scorsese a favour and did goodfellas for free how nice of sam. Can you do
Ray liotta
Joe pesci
Rob de Niro
Val Kilmer
Russel crow
Jim Carey
Charlize Theron
Mel gibson
Danny Glover
Danny de vito
Never campbell
Mathew lillard
Skeet Ulrich
Courtney cox
Renee zellweger
Thanks for pointing out Godfellas, @paulgraham4004! I excluded that because he had such a minor role, and he wasn’t that famous back then. I agree, it was a mistake. I see that now.-I should probably update the criteria I apply when picking the movies. As for the names you listed, I noted them all and will get to most of them sooner or later. You can check out De Niro right now actually: ruclips.net/video/DvVG8RF-bN8/видео.html Thank you for joining the journey!
@BoxOfficeJoe intel recieved comrade
KILL BILL,he was in Kill Bill.
Thank you for pointing this out, @ossiespencer4982! I have certain criteria for movie inclusion, but it didn't serve me well in this case, I see that now.
I bet this isn't accurate cause juice and coming to America wasn't on here and he started acting in 1972
Thank you for pointing this out, @coreyisaac5334! Yeah, I have some criteria for movie inclusion, but it didn't serve me well in this case.
Can’t believe they paid him 500k$ for Iron man that’s criminal
For less than a minute, @draglordzmedia8262? 😕
You forgot Coming to America. That’s where it all started. Robbery scene.
First thought to myself. A small but powerful role. REDO THIS!
Thank you for pointing this out, @JohnnieWick77! I have some criteria for movie inclusion, but it backfired here, I see that now.
Maybe I will, @2XCLR8!
It's not actually where it started though.
Whole lotta M’z !
Dang I think I counted more movies than Denzil.
A couple movies were missing, but they weren't bug deals i don't think
Coming to America, Goodfellas, Menace II Society, True Romance were some of the big movies, but small roles.
Not one over 20 million with 50 plus movies and in film over a billion he got an average 6 to 8 million damn no wonder he still working.
Why would he get $20 million? If you've watched all these movies as I have you'd realize he's one of the most overpaid actors in Hollywood...not because he doesn't have talent but rather what he's been asked to do to make these ludicrously high paydays. Look at his role in the marvel movies, ffs.
Just wondering if thus is every movie he's been in where is his first movie 🤔 could of sworn his first movie was coming to America
Yes, well, sorry about that, @thomascontreras3650! I used certain criteria for including and excluding movies, but I see now it was a bad decision. Check out some of my recent videos-I'm much more thorough now.
If y’all think he only 6 million for avengers in 2018 and 6.5 million for Spider-Man in 2018 y’all all on herion
That crazy that man hasn't made 20m for a movie
Why is it crazy? He's not a leading man.
If you compare him to Denzel someone needs to be fired
Well, @dougusher8760, Denzel is usually in a leading role, while Sam typically has only a few minutes of screen time per movie, so I don't think the pay difference is that huge.
