Hot tip! Always unclip one foot before coming to a full stop. Idea is to have one foot ready to plant on the ground while coasting to a stop. This will end your anxiety of using clipless pedals and put an end to falling over.
Ok one thing the bike shop forgot to tell you is that when you starting out as a beginner to clipless, back off some of the cleat tension on the pedals that way you can get in/out of them easily. As confidence/ muscle memory (from having to swing foot outwards to unclip) and experience grows then you can do up the tension to a point that is ideal for you.... it will save your knees and ( pride ) 😁😁 besides unless you going racing or you in the pro leagues you donr need the tension done up mega tight!! We on open, live roads you need some degree of getting out your pedals if emergency crops up☝🏾
Hello! I am from melbourne and I have watched your 2 videos on cycling and they are great. I cant wait to bring my bike over to singapore! Btw i think your saddle can be raised slightly higher (1-3cm) for better pedalling efficiency. If you if feel like your feet are far from the ground (happens with smaller riders) you can always lean the bike towards the unclipped foot to get off
That happens to everyone new to clipless pedals. Sometimes, more than once 😆. Tegaderm - not sure if you can get this in Singapore - is great for road rash.
New to your channel. Just saw how you pedal with the cleats, don’t tip toe. Your foot while pedalling should be flat to stretch your hamstring and to avoid cramps while riding. And I tell you, you don’t wanna get cramps when your legs are tired.
welcome to the club. Everyone does it. In fact I was in NYC for a cycling group and someone right in front of me didn't clip out and fell on their side. I've been using clips in for years and still have troubles at times. Try to clip out of both at the same time.
You did great. You chose the right shoe in 39 that fits-he was right fit is everything. Look pedals are a great choice as they have a lot of surface area and they have been around forever with their 3 point cleats and pedals-easy to replace and upgrade. Please practice going hard and stopping fast to get out of pedals ASAP. You look very cute in white too!
Been waiting for you to post a video about cycling again, i found your channel because of your build, looking forward to see more of your place thru cycling
Thanks for your patience! I plan to regularly upload cycling videos 😁 I have a cool one coming soon (hint: getting some new gear, both for filming cycling content and gear for my bike)
The cycling shoes also help to ensure that you have better foot placement on the pedals (the ball of the foot) and also ensure better energy transfer - looking good.
what an amazing place to cycle :) looks beautiful, i remember getting clipin pedals, pretty scary at first, ive fallen into a hedge and onto pavements trying to clip in and out , all learning curve
Way to go girl. You are so brave. Do take care out there when you are riding, as some driver is not so forgiving towards cyclist. But overall I still enjoy my ride.

I thought you would elaborate on what happened to your leg? When you got up super early in the morning to go biking with cleats for the first time without practicing how to use them, I was expecting to see some serious bloopers in this video. I am new to cleats as well, and I fell over
No bandaid on that wound. Clean it, apply some Neosporin and just let it dry. The bandaid will make it moist n will take longer to heal. You want to keep it dry. It'll become moist during recovery but eventually will dry out and that's where it'll be fun to pick on the scab when it heals!
Doing great for a first timer ! If you're looking for early bird buddy to ride, hit me up. Enjoy cycling, it's fantastic especially if you have a chance to do it in the mountains next Summer !
You should have went for a shimano cleat mounts and clipless pedals. The seller basically stripped your budget down to paying twice the price since you’re just a beginner. Shimano ones are budget friendly if your just starting out for a clipless shoes, pedals and mounts.
I was really WOW with the store. It’s impressive but the advise and comments from the rep are concerning. Please do not work your way to 0degree float. Unless you’re a pro or recommended by a bike fitter, it will cause knee issues. Also surprised he didn’t measure your feet. Nice shoes and brand though!!!! Keep riding!!!! I’m closing in 10,000km for the year! Can’t wait for your first 100km!
@@sherrybyw Anyway, ride safe on Singapore roads! Singapore roads aren't really the best for cycling. I don't think all cyclists and drivers know how to share and be responsible on the roads.
Another flat foot person. :) Totally understand the pain and hassle you go through! A good thing about it is that there are limited brands and models that you can buy. The non-flatfoot people have a wide range to consider... major headache I'm sure! lol :p
When Greg Le Mond started promoting clueless pedals I bought a pair.. Before I went on the road I jammed my bike between the wall and the kitchen table. I then spent a few cups of tea clicking in and out. In all diffrent positions the foot can be in pedalling. 30, 40 mins getting used to this movement will save a bit of pain.
Ouch, I have the same wound at the same spot as you. Use those spray kind of antiseptic from watsons to reduce pain-ness when self treatment. The brand I am using is "Schulke Octenisept".
Sherry sweetheart, excellent video, and please also get yourself a pair of gloves. Not only will you grip the handlebars better, but more importantly it will protect your hands from road rash should you fall off your bike. If the shoes you bought do not work out, I highly recommend Specialized cycling shoes. Also, always carry a spare tube tire and tools.
I agree, do get yourself a pair of gloves. It not only can protect your hand when you fall, it will give you more comfort on long rides and help keep your bar tape fresh longer. 😋🤭
Hahahha feeling silly bc my injury wasn't even from the climb :') It was from my hesitation at a traffic light on whether I should go or stop (because I knew the lights would be orange soon) hahahah. I should have just unclipped!
@@sherrybyw And next time unclip whatever the colour of the lights, but leave your foot resting on the pedal. If it's green then just push it back into the pedal. :)

These shoes work with the Peloton bike+ (April 2022), ruclips.net/user/postUgkxGPkov2mNjgZfG33r6Bwvies8jKE4AKZB and are of good enough quality. I have completed 10 rides so far and there are no issues. After the first two rides there were no issues at all.
Well congrats! you had your first crash while being clipped in. Usually it takes 1 crash to get your brain trained to remember that you're clipped in and need to twist instead of just pull :)
Oh, and if you're finding that the road bike cleat system are just too hard to get off from, SPD system for MTB (as opposed to SPD-SL for road) are much easier to get out from and also easier to walk on, but you're also gonna need new shoes and pedals
Maybe lower the seat height, or adjust the fore/aft cleat position. Your toes look like they point down more than usual... that is, unless that's comfortable for you.
