🤗🥰 Are you hunting for furniture now for your new rented home❓ May I ask if you need my place❓I am a Singaporean and currently in Philippines (been here 5 years) and have a vacant place near HarbourFront/ Telok Blangah MRT station (less than 5 mins walk). It's a 70 sqm turned into 2 studio units separated with full privacy. I am in Philippines & my personal belongings are kept in one unit. The other Studio one is 40sqm at ONLY SGD980 semi-furnished for single / a couple. Comes with separate large private kitchen and private toilet / bath (in kitchen). Thank you.
Hi Sherry, love the videos, keep it up! You are definitely getting faster as well! Just regarding your bike fit, I saw some things that ‘surprised’ me, but reserved judgement until you made another ride video. Let me preface my comments by saying that I am not a bike fitter, but have avid interest in it from solving my own issues, and I myself have had a comprehensive fit. Watching the fit video, I see the fitter was more intent on watching the screen and numbers, rather than watching you pedal with his eyes. Sign of a ‘system’ fit. The fact that he moved your saddle forward in response to his findings surprised me, and the fact that you instantly felt more pressure on your hands was a red flag. If anything the saddle should have been moved aft, lightening the load on the hands. I suffer from this, as I am heavy in the upper body. Gloves won’t solve the issue, just hide it for longer. As others have suggested, go back to the fitter, and have the hand pain resolved, it is definitely not “something you’ll get used to”….. If you aren’t happy after that, see someone else.
Used to do bike fitting, old school style, and even wrote about it for a local website. Seems like a very "static" fit. Arms too stretched out, no space to absorb shock (maybe why you need gloves--I ride barehanded). Otherwise, good job hitting 31kmh average. :)
Choose the glove with minimal padding. Thick padding can cause numbness, especially when the dense pad area has pressed against your palm for too long when holding the handlebar.
I stayed in Singapore 5 years ago. In Kampong Glam. Very cozy. Reminded me a bit of the place you were shopping. With all the kolonial style buildings.
The numbness problem is due to the saddle tilt angle, probably tilting forward a little too much, you are supporting your body too much on your hands. Soon, your shoulders will ache, then your lower back after a longride. Gloves will probably solve the numbness, as it helps distributing the pressure points. But watch out for the other symptoms. Yea, go back to the fitter
It’s nice to see women getting into cycling 🚴♂️ now as days as the sport is dominant males and I’m jealous you guys get to ride all year round in Singapore 🇸🇬 😭
I didn't know you were a fellow Canadian :) Speaking about your hand situation; It's both. Getting used to it, and gloves really do help. Fingerless are the way to go during the summer, which I believe is perpetual where you are. Best of luck and have a fun safe ride!
A real good bikefitter is like BikeFit James from the UK. Knowledge and not relying too much (or not) on all the fancy technology. I would advice to get another bikefit, at another place.
Nice vlog!!👍 Long time since I last watched your vlog but seen on your IG story about your vlog so had to watch sorry I missed your past vlogs Sherry😔 That’s cool on the outside of the stores don’t look like they are.. The chicken sandwich looks so delicious😋 You’re way too hilarious when looking at furniture couldn’t stop laughing since you wanted everything there🤣 Can’t wait to watch your next vlog👍🙂
Try a 10mm longer stem from your existing. Your reach is a just a bit too short which causes pressure on your hands. FYI you have a bad bike fitter when he move your seat forward instead of backward while you are doing a balance test . Lots of bike fitters are simply looking at what the computer tell him to do. They never understand what is bio-mechanics. Check some videos on " cruzcontrol ' .
If you're still front heavy on your bike, you should go back to your bike fitter. 90% of the time those machines and apps don't really resolve bike fit problems. You must also have numb hands, some shoulder and neck pain. Bad bike fit.
Try a 10mm longer stem from your existing. Your reach is a just a bit too short which causes pressure on your hands. Agree with many comments on a bad bike fit. When your bike fitter move your seat forward on the balance test when you are falling forward - THAT IS NOT A GOOD BIKE FITTER. Bike fit do not take a long time but bio-mechanics is the most important. Computer and laser will not show your frustration and struggle when climbing , curses when you are tired, back ache, numb etc . Check some videos by ' cruzcontrol ' on youtube . It will help you to understand .
For gloves, I would totally recommend the Giro Supernatural. The paddings are superb and well placed that they feel out of the way 😇 Plus I think I saw you on the road too, can't miss the orange jersey with the rear pink of POC. Let's ride together someday 😆
Probably go back to the bike fitter explain your hand pressure. Bike fit adjustment needed. Not normal to feel that much pressure. Gloves can help with road vibration but I mainly use them for grip when sweating. You look like your in good shape, ie no structural imbalances or deficiencies so bike fit should be pretty straight forward. I like the cafe you chose, not too crowded but busy enough to not be suspicious “why is there no one in here?”
If you are getting numbness in the hands your riding position maybe too forward on your bike, as you should have even pressure between your butt and your hands. I prefer slightly more on my rear than my hands. Check you seat is not too backward making you over stretch when you are on the hoods. Do you hands get less numb or recover when you are on the flats (top section) of your bars? If so then probably you are leaning too forward and too much pressure on your hands. Solution is either get a shorter stem or a bike with a shorter top tube. Maybe go for a bike fitting if you haven't.
Stick with the gloves - not necessarily for riding but they are a valuable piece of protective equipment in case of a fall - without them your hands can get torn up quite badly.
You're lucky Singapore is much more affordable and far more interesting than my extended time (1995-1998) working in Singapore. At that time Singapore was considered an "Asian Tiger", but there were few good restaurants, there was no glittering MBS to visit, and almost no amusements and facilities at Sentosa. The only fun was a cheap taxi ride to Changi and a long weekend in HK, Bangkok or the Philippines. Nevertheless, the people were kind and generous and some of my best friends are Singaporean. I consider Singapore my second home. It looks like your memories will be as good as mine are now.
Hi Sherri, I’ve been trying reach you on Instagram. Have been watching your content for a while now, love your energy and spirit. Would love to do a Cantonese episode with you are up for it, let me know 👍🏻
Wow, such a delightful surprise to come across your comment here, Dianna! I have been watching your VERY insightful RUclips content 👍for almost a year (not sure whether you could still recall my comment on the best/worst scenario approach to international relocation)🙂 Hi Sherri, love your Singapore videos too! -- especially the one back a long long while ago on international relocation agency when my family were planning to relocate to Singapore. Super helpful! Keep up the good work!👍
Does anyone else love furniture shopping...even though they don't need furniture? 😂
@Jason S YES! I love me some Crate and Barrel 😌

Who’s here watching Sherry turn from vlogger to pro-cyclist 🙋♀️
PS: next visit there at Bukit Pasoh, test ride the SL7 Speed of Light 🤭
I liked the guy describing the different gloves and bringing up the issue of fit/weight on hands.

Yes your position looks like your seat is too low and straight arms looks uncomfortable
I agree. If you feel pain in your hands, the bike fits did not manage to solve your problems on the bike.

Agree with Patrick on this one!

The gloves are good but also add some gel pads under your bar tape for added cushion. Your bike shop will know what that is
Really Cool and Awesome to watch!!!
Thank you so much for this fantastic and remarkable video
Moving to Singapore after HK and BKK; thanks for your videos

Love your SG content. PLease stay in Singapore forever hahaha

Cadence seems abit high... will be better if you can drop the cadence and dont be afraid to drop gear to pick up speed slowly. All the best!
