Love the humour and love the bowl. I'm a retired nurse of more years than I care to remember. One of the things I learnt, life is easier if you can put some humour in. When there were nurses etc without humour it made a difficult job much more stressful
When I saw the white coat I said. WTF. . . Then the respirator and I hurt myself laughing. Great job shining a light in a dark time. And moonshine whiskey ain't so bad either.

What I really thought was cool was how the seed pods inside the bowl looked animated as you were applying the lacquer while it was on the lathe. Please, feel free to alleviate as much of your tedium as you would like in the shop - your videos are always a joy, and I love your projects! Just tell them Angry Chipmunks to keep their distance, unless they want to end up as part of a project.
I’m sooo gonna build myself one of those Toilet Paper respirators, put two jumbo rolls of Charmin on it and blast down the road on my Harley! I’ll try and get it on video!

TOOOO FUNNY!! I love the protection gear, especially the mask. There was an optical illusion when you were spraying the inside on the bowl with lacquer...the "germs" looked like they were in motion like real germs might be swimming. Thank you for bringing a bit of humor to these serious times!

In years to come people will completely forget about the 2020 virus but not the owner of this bowl. Kudos Doug! I made myself some TP driveway markers to try to do my part lifting travelers spirits when they go by.
That is a really cool piece. I myself am a veteran woodturner with 27 years of experience. I like how you popped up with the respirator with the toilet paper rolls. Because I am laid off due to the COVID-19 pandemic I turn wood bowls and vases. Machine I use is an engine lathe made for turning metal. I hand tool the out sides but for hollowing I use a boring bar mounted in the tool post. I have been turning since 1993.

I've had to wear various suits in the military over many years and frankly, hated every one. Sorry some cannot appreciate the levity. This bowl is awesome! Funny how it actually looks like the virus. I've been telling our patients who come in to the office (the ones who can't do telehealth) to be sure to bring a sunny smile with them. Glad to have someone like you on this platform to make us smile!
Love the name of this bowl. Those little spiky round things belong in resin ( all of them). We have them here in Florida and they sure do hurt if you step on one barefoot! @@PohlBarnProductions I saw that and it was a creative way of accomplishing the stabilization of them. I wasn't sure at the beginning where you were going when you added the alcohol to the resin however; it was a smart approach to something sooo full of air. I do enjoy wanting your creations and especially this one.
I added Acetone not alcohol but it was to thin the resin so it can be absorbed into the material it's applied to, it really doesn't fill the air pockets as it just makes the wood harder so it can be turned.
Thank you Bob, this one was 1740g at one time, I did have some cracks in the seed pods only, probably moisture of some sort but it wasn't bad, I expected to find the bowl melted and the resin in the back up bucket but it stay where it was suppose to stay.
Doug thank you for the humor! It’s been a tough couple weeks for most of this country, so much uncertainty. I always look forward to your Friday project videos because they make me smile and know there is more to this world than work. Now I wish there was more to this world then sitting on my ars but at least we got turning. If a project like this chases a few snowflakes (subs) away they don’t know you. Cool project, great finish. And definitely mad props to all our essential personnel right now having to put up with all this and putting their health and safety on the line!

Doug, I used to live in North Carolina and we had a plethora of gun trees. Your bowl is the first time that I have seen a positive use for gum balls. Very interesting.
