    As a newbie system administrator I must say it's one of the best tutorials I've ever watched, also very clear instructions on documentations. Subscribed :)

    This well explained... Thank you... I have question.. please how do one reclaim space on the shared disk back to the storage device. I have pending issue where after files are being deleted from the file cluster drive, the space is not reflecting on the storage. Thank

    thanks for this explaining...for the iscsi i have some quest. if you don't mind
    1-does using server instead of storage device is good ? no problem with it ?
    2-could i first convert the physcial disk to gpt then spanning them to make for example one partition of 10TB ssd and then i start use it in the iscsi ?
    3- if the 1 of ssd down i think all storage will down so how to make a mirror to these ssd disk to insure the safety
    thanks again

    Hi, thank you for the detailed explanation! One question - how do you make the storage node3 (storage node) fault tolerant? Am I right in undestanding that if node 3 (storage node) fails then the whole cluster fails as it has no shared storage?

    Can I ask you how you set up your lab environment? Looks like you are using virtual box. Seems like a great setup for testing. How much processing power does the host computer require?

      This is nice question! You really need a pretty fast machine. I use VirtualBox on Mac(32GB Ram, 1TB SDD, Core i9) because I run many servers. But for 2 or 3 servers, i5 or i7 with 16GB or similar is okk

    Good afternoon. First, congratulations for the video. I tried to do the configuration, but when doing the validation test before creating the cluster, the following error occurs for the two data disks (one on each server):
    Physical disk xxxxxxxx is visible from only one node and will not be tested. Validation requires the disk to be visible from at least two nodes. Disk is reported as visible on node:
    I tried creating the cluster anyway, and adding the disks later. Only they don't list it as an option, and then it gives an error. It's probably some kind of prep on the records that I ended up not doing. What can it be? Thanks.

    Good video. Now how would you fix a witness disk that has become corrupted. Knowing you cannot do a disk scan/file system check while the Disk is in use by the cluster.

    I did not quite get it. You used the disk of Node 2 as clustered disks instead of the "node 3". You also did not join the "node3" in the cluster which is supposed to have all the disks(storage node).

    Tried to creat two VMs for node 1 and node 2. But in Failover Cluster Manager validation they cant see each other. What could be wrong? Do I need AD or Domain Controller?

    • @bertiefret5353
      @bertiefret5353 8 месяцев назад

      Make sure the network adaptor on all participating Nodes including your Domain Controller is set to internal then apply and OK. this will allow all nodes to communicate together internally. Go to file on top left of your VM and click on settings, you will see Network Adaptor on your left. make your VM to by smaller(minimize) so you can see the file option on top left. once done, try to ping all 3 nodes from each VM. External Adaptor will bring internet from your home to the VM and Internal will take internet away, if you need internet temporarily , then flip to external then return it back to internal once you are done downloading or using the internet

    And what happens if the physical server (DC) fails?

    • @bertiefret5353
      @bertiefret5353 8 месяцев назад

      Databases will become unavailable until the failed server is repaired. The disk hosting the database files should have redundancy measures in place such as storage replication technologies. If the SQL Server cluster is configured with failover clustering, the cluster will detect the failure of the server hosting the disk and initiate an automatic failover to another server in the cluster. The failover process ensures that the SQL Server instance remains available and that the disk resources are accessible from the new server
