Guys this windows failover cluster setup with iscsi disk or shared disk is not required for sql server availability group with primary and secondary instances , This is FCI setup which normally doesn’t happen for HA/DR setups
Thanks for the video. Questions: 1. How many VMWorkstation Network Adapter did you assign to Domain Controller VM? 2. How many VMWorkstation Network Adapter did you assign to SAN server VM? 3. How many VMWorkstation Network Adapter did you assign to SQL Server VM? Many thanks for your kind help in advance. Thank you, Edwin
i answer for him, 3 years later but maybe works for other people doesnt matter how many adapters in Domain Controller, only need 1 for this practice in SAN server 2 total adapters, (AD, and ISCSI ) in SQL SERVER NODES 4 Total adapters ( AD, Heartbit, Live Migration and ISCSI)
Thanks! i am facing an issue with my test env. i have installed and configured iSCSI on the same sql-node-01 successfully, but when i have to install the failover cluster, i saw a warning of no witness disk as well as no disks in the cluster disk tree. when i check iSCSI initiator properties its keeps reconnecting. i have to remove the cluster and restart the server and I get back the disks connected. I have one NIC on the server.
hi thanks for your video it was very helpful , but what i really need to indicate for me is the network cards on each machine, to which it was connected I mean to a private switch or NAT or external switch. if you please can you show us on the VMware how you connected them to which switch. thanks
It is like how master database for ssms. The quorum is same as master for the cluster. It has cluster configuration info and it helps in the node majority scenario. When private network goes down it will helps to send communication between the nodes
Thanks for the video. Since the files were not specified when the second node was added, can I assume both nodes share the same database files? Also you manually failed over the nodes. If one of the nodes was unable to be reached , either turned off or lost network connectivity, will the cluster failover to second node automatically?
Good afternoon, I have a problem when putting the network name of the sql server cluster, it gives me the error "the network address is invalid" and it doesn't let me proceed. I have created a DNS host (also the reverse) with an IP inside the network but it keeps failing. Do you know what is wrong? I have the virtual environment set up with 3 windows server 2022 machines, one domain and two in a cluster with two ISCSI disks. Thanks in advance.

This is FCI setup which normally doesn’t happen for HA/DR setups
Also stand alone sql server installation is required and add these instances as role in fail over cluster manager
Thank you for your efforts Sir
Explained clearly.

Thanks for the session. why querom disk is required ?
quorum disk is basically work as witness disk for cluster which will have cluster information. Please check on google for more details.
It is like how master database for ssms. The quorum is same as master for the cluster.
