this dude could open portals for an entire army but couldn't open up a portal to bring that kid to a hospital in an instance
even it the made a portal, the body would have to be moved, or the portal world need to be EXTREMELY precise (open a portal directly below the kid, and the other end of the portal exactly at the operation table's surface) but even then I think there would be too much confusion, panic, and it probably wouldn't work because of time loss

I could never understand why strange having his hands fixed was such a big deal.

plot twist: the punishment is that Dr strange doesn't know that there is no punishment. he lives in fear
Imagine Strange just keeps being in fear of what the punishment might be but it isn't even there. so basically constant fear.
Funnily enough, there is simply no punishment if your hands get fixed. Strange should have known that.

The punishment is probably lose your hands and then he just grew them back

In terms of infection risk, it's not that bad. I mean it is extremely f**king bad, but between a potentially severe brain infection and immediate death I'd choose the severe brain infection. It's all a risk balance. Why he does not teleport the kid to a hospital is another question entirely.
why doesn't he just use a spell to either heal the boy or rewind his time to before he got the injury is the best question.

@@jitian7353 They can teleport him directly unto a hospital bed, and that's not what they mean when they say a person cannot be moved.
There's a massive difference between being moved a couple meters and being moved a couple of meters into an ambulance that moves itself and chaotically applies force to you as it is driven to a hospital, after which you are again moved a lot more meters to a proper hospital bed.
In DnD, a simple spell like Cure Wounds or Spare the Dying would have saved the boy. But alas, this ain’t DnD.

@@flamewolf552 some surgeries require a millimeters of precision. the slightest mishap could be deadly. you cannot make an error in a surgery otherwise it could be fatal. This is why even though the slightest chronic shake in the hand could make a doctor have no choice but to resign

I think using sorcery might cause more problems for precise works such as surgery, so he probably just don't want to risk it. Imagine it like trying to take a strand of hair using scissors, possible but it can still cut the hair.
Plus we don't know if there's ever a consequences for using magic to directly heal injuries, which is why he never heal his own hands. There's also a possibility that the kid might not be able to withstand the magic itself.
Or even if they were serious consequences, the whole set up makes him feel really stupid.
Strange could just... open a portal into a hospital. Magic some restraining so the boy wouldn't be moved in a way that will cause more damage.
But no, he decided to Astral project to get some 18+ spells, so he can gamble at a shot of saving the kid, himself. While mister "I love murder" is still around.
