the most obvious reason why i love seether is because they are as good live as they are in their studio recordings... there is nothing morphed about their music. plus shaun's voice is so good that u really wanna hear his songs again and again
Considering the 2nd guitarist left them I think he does a fantastic Job to sing something this demanding and play the lead line at the same time. Hat off to you Shaun Morgan!
I love reading people's comments about how much this song has helped them during difficult times. I personally got through a very tough period when one of my relatives suddenly passed away and this particular song helped me ease the pain. I can attest that music does have healing powers. Thank you Seether, I know Shaun wrote this song in honor of his brother.
My experience was with killswitch engage had a rough breakup with someone very close at the time and that band helped me through a lot of pain. Recently discovered setter great band.
I always associated this song with a girl I had a huge crush on. Made it her ring tone on my phone, chased after her for years. Our daughter is due in August!
This one has gotten me out of a darkened slump many o' times. "Feels so right, but I'll end this all before it gets me." Every single time, TY Seether.
I saw this year's ago, and I didn't know much about the band....blew me away. Have been my favorite band for years! Looking forward to show #9 this year at Summerfest!
Hands down this song spoke to a generation. If you were in highschool. I can almost guarantee you have some sort of memory to this song. The first time I heard it I was doing dishes in a restaurant. About 17. Everyone stopped in the middle of dinner rush just so we could listen to what we were hearing on the radio. It reminds me of how much I miss the old me. The one that still had really big dreams.
I lost my brother to suicide last year. The effects it has on the family is a difficult road. Music has been my healer and it is songs like this that help. Knowing you are not alone. Remember, if you are feeling helpless..hang in there..It will pass. If you know someone that is suicidal or secluding themselves, make sure you let them know that they truly matter. Remember: Words Hurt, but they can also heal. Careful with your words. Be a light to those unwell.
I'm sorry for your loss, but sometimes it doesn't pass. Those that kill themselves usually are in mental anguish for many years beforehand. People naturally want to live, but mentally suffering for decades or longer is something many people can not comprehend or have experienced.
This song saved my life, I was on a suicide mindset and then this song woke me up and help me to rise above this shit world filled with lies and deceit. Thank you SEETHER!
I remember watching 101 channel on DirecTV, and when i saw this performance i was amazed. I downloaded this performance to my music player not even the real version. When music is made right, it sounds like this
I've watched old live videos, such as when Disclaimer II came out and I remember how Shaun looked so awkward like he wasn't comfortable with himself and now it's like he accepted who he is , and looks more comfortable playing
I'm in such a deep dark place lately. Songs like these help. I know suicide is not my answer but I have thought about it. I just sometimes want the pain to end.
I was at UPROAR also, at Pine Knob (DTE Music Theater in Pontiac), where I finally got to see them and am looking forward to seeing them again at the Joe Louis Arena in Detroit (with NIckelback, Bush and My Darkest Days).
@CadillacPat1 Was at Uproar in Pontiac as well. And shall be going to the Joe Louis Arena show, too. Already geeked about it. Seether never fails to put on an amazing performance.
I found this indirectly (pun intended to Direct TV...lol) through my favorite radio station (which streams live) Z93 @WKQZ.. I know have it in favorites!. Seether rocks!
Excellent performance. And, some of you dudes are confusing me. Shaun Morgan is the rhythm guitarist. He just likes to solo sometimes. Even when Pat, the original lead guitarist, was in the band, and when Amy Lee's guitarist joined Seether briefly on Finding Beauty in Negative Space. Shaun's guitar doesn't sound terrible. It sounds good - just like the album version of this song.
His guitar sounds like shit in distortion dude. It actually sounds like it's out of tune. Probably the G string, since that's generally what it sounds like when you hit that octave note with it while hitting power chords. It's not bad playing on his part. Just poor attention to detail when tuning up.
Watch the rig rundown video of shawn, he explains it all, their sound and freely admits hes a rythm guitarist, and will jack riffs up often. He likes distorting sounds, they are heavily influenced by sounds like Nirvanas.
Kultivater probably out of tune for sure that’s they way he likes to play he’s clearly fucking the shit out of those strings slamming on them the great thing he doesn’t care about it. It’s art and expression of himself. It doesn’t have to sound great to be great. That’s what rock n roll is about if you need perfectly sounding guitars listen to country music.
I'm also going to see Adelitas Way again (w/ Shinedown and Art of Dying) two days before (April 12) @ The Filmore in Detroit (I really need to move closer so I don't have to drive as far...lol). Four of us from work are also going to see Van Halen at the Joe on 2/20.
I love this song and it still brings back the memories that I had when I first saw them I'd love to see Seether again they were awesome but I'm bringing my earplugs this time that's funny
It's funny the 93 dislikes are the doubters out of 3.9k something wrong with those people this band is so talented and underrated songs stay in my head day and night that's how great those people don't get music in general.
Pretty sure he doesn't use pedals for distortion. Just the Boogie footswitch straight into the rectifier. The only pedal he used here was for the chorus-y effect in the solo. If you don't have a boogie and want a beefy distortion similar to thism a good pedal to use would be the Zvex's box of metal.
I thought they were a four-piece. Either way he does a great job with the extra lead parts blended in withe the rhythm parts. Thats some THICK distortion too lol.
Please bring this show back, it was amazing. The interviews and performances were incredible.
It really was amazing but I think of it as a cool show we got to experience

Love this! I want to get a tattoo that says Rise Above.
I hate to say it but this is song makes it worse right now I'm ready to die

This song, story and music video helps me with holding on. . Pain is relative, you'll never know all of who needs you
It’s gotta be rough to sing of your brother’s suicide, but he can sing it proudly knowing how many people this song has helped.
Thanks.

I believe Seether has a song called Words as weapons! So true are your statements!👍👌

This dude could sing the phone book and I’d listen. 🎶
I bet that room smells good. Lol swear to god the acoustic rooms in guitar center smell awesome
Smells like teen spirit lol
This is what the musician's paradise smells like
This song still gets me by.
Its like when Seether writes an uptempo, optimistic song like this one or "Tonight", it sounds very genuine.
Love this live version. They sound great.
What this song says to me is never give up even how crappy your life is and have no hope that time is on your side never give up .
My forever friend Kirk showed me this song the last time I went to rehab...love you friend wherever you are❤️
Unbelievable performance…. A++++

I FUCKING LOVE THIS BAND
This song saved my mom, from yet another death❤️
As I get older and living day by day cuz my physical limitations, I listen to this song which helps me get thru it all.
singing this at live shows etc must be hard but he'll rise above it
God I love Seether live. They just sound so amazing.
I have about 3 or 4 guitars in the background…love this version
They sound great. Very solid. No over-harmonization like a lot of bands of their kind.
What a hell of a performance.
Shaun your voice 🤘🤘🤘🤘
I was at UPROAR also, at Pine Knob (DTE Music Theater in Pontiac), where I finally got to see them and am looking forward to seeing them again at the Joe Louis Arena in Detroit (with NIckelback, Bush and My Darkest Days).

Irony. This song makes me think if my brother. Who also committed suicide
My friend's son just committed suicide at the start of this week. This is the first song that came to mind.

I enjoyed this performance by them, even though they played it a half step down.
They've always played Rise in drop C live
