This thing of grimsley always getting the "smaller gender" (female crookodile even though the male crocodiles are bigger or male sharpedo even though female sharks are bigger) could be a reference to his gambling theme, always getting the underdog

One small correction. Male bees will actually often be kicked out of their hives, since they don't work, and mating with their own mother would not be good. Once out of the hive they look for hives with available queens
It actually greatly depends on the type of bee. Due to how some bee types have managed to 'hack' the system of genetics, a male bee essentially only has 25% of the queen's DNA instead of 50% as I understand it. Now the true power of this is that, for the worker bees, protecting the queen will spread their DNA farther and wider than mating themselves, as they share 75% of the DNA of the queen instead of 50%. So for every worker that sacrifices themselves for the queen, that lets the queen birth 1.5 workers and is a net positive. This changes their biological code from "Find mate, reproduce" to "Protect the queen" and is seen in most eusocial insects. Its complicated and I don't fully understand it myself, but yeah. Even these hives throw male bees out during the winter though.
While he never has a full team of female pokémon, I think it's entertaining that Wallace's ace in the remakes is female when it wasn't in the original games (to my knowledge, most notable trainers have aces that are the same gender as themselves). "Why does Cyrano have an all-female team?" Me: his design is 100% inspired by the "boto-cor-de-rosa" from brazilian folclore. in mith the guy seduced woman slept with them and disapeared back into the water turning back into a Boto. You CANT convince me otherwise

Pokémon doesn't just have an obsession with making mons too feminine to gloss over... They really like combining them with plants when they do. Like, on a list of all the waifumons, there is a hard to ignore number of grass types
I actually have been doing those for a while now. I call it a Haremlocke, and I’ve developed a mulligan system for first encounters being male or genderless. After finding a 3rd male pokemon, you can go to any area and grab the first female you find.

It's true that male ants and bees just mate with queens and die but they do come out of the nest, especially near nuptial flight season. You can usually find them hanging out at the nest entrance. I actually stopped to watch some male fire ants and saw some nearby workers killing a honeybee drone just yesterday.
I usually like playing an all female team just because I'm more confortable around females in life. Makes starting to games fun to get a female starter since I like to take my starter to the end regarless.

Your interpretation for Grimsley also fits with his theme of being a gambler. Instead of the smaller sized Pokémon being meaner, you can interpret them being "more Dark type" with underhanded tactics, deception and cunning to make up for their lack of power.
One of my favorite things between Volo and Cynthia’s teams is that they are gender swapped. Though with the notable exception that their Togekisses are the opposite gender so Volo’s is female while Cynthia’s is male
12:44 It's not a mistake, it's just how DVs work. A Pokemon's gender is determined by its Atk DV. Jasmine's Pokemon all have 9 atk and are 50/50 gender ratio. The higher atk DVs cause the Pokemon to be male. For them to be female they'd have to be at least 7, and they probably didn't want to do that because she's a post game fight.😅
Looks like someone I can get along and enjoy a battle with. Me with my team: Gardevoir, Lopunny, Delphox, Primarina, Meowscarada and Salazzle. (technically the main five are my usual go to but the 6th slot could just be whatever personally).
AYO! What the Salazzle and Scrafty and that third pokemon at the end of the Cyrano section I could only see the spikes of doin? XD Also, Cyranno's a Monster F***er confirmed 1:41 You could've said "Big Bug Women"
Hey, the Portuguese title is horribly translated and really doesn't mean the same as the original English title, a more correct translation would be "Treinadores Pokémon com times apenas femininos...(legendado)", hope it helps, keep up the good work!
Since Grinsley is normally associated with gambling in the things I know him from, I figured that a mostly female team was about Lady Luck. With a majority female team, luck is usually always on his side, but then again, you can’t win em all. Essentially, he knows he’s out of luck when he’s down to his last Pokémon - assuming that it’s his lone male.
Cyrano has female starters so he can use them for breeding with other Pokémon and give the offspring to trainers. There's nothing weird going on there. In fact, it's pretty wholesome. That's also why he gives you a shiny Blitzle: he's just that charitable. It was also probably the offspring of his Zebstrika.
excuse me my guy but there's nothing wrong with having my- i mean your team as lopunny gardevoir meowscarada salazzle weavile and vaporeon you're just projecting
Did also want to add part of Saguaro's team is based around his love of sweets. Alcremie and Vespiqueen in particular. Milk and honey. ... which also may allude to some applicable lessons by Rupi Kaur as of this posting as I do an extra google search? Huh. Interesting.
I do this. Mostly because whitney traumatized me so much with the move attract i now only use females or genderless. I've only seen ONE male pokemon use attract. And it was a minccinno in unova. I believe the route with the baker rv. I think you get an item from them. The route also has a bianca encounter and a hidden grotto. Now its just became such a habit plus it gives a little challenge sometimes.
Saguaro is a legend of a man. He makes of think of Kanji (Persona 4) but grown up. He's comfortable with his identity and confidently expresses himself through his style and team. I can envision him being a Fairy-type gym leader in Paldea, shocking everyone when they see a huge macho dude rocking a cute/feminine team.

Love those kinds of convos and lil tidbits ^^ I've also noticed that of course a lot of them are in the more recent games but it's still nice to see that there was some in the older ones!
Great video, but cyrano de Bergerac is an author that wrote sci fi, but the play was written by Edmond Rostand which also hailed from Bergerac and added little inspiration from his life in the play.
Cyrano was a friend of edmond rostand and was not a musqueteer
Sorry for any mistakes englosh is my second language :)
It's true that male ants and bees just mate with queens and die but they do come out of the nest, especially near nuptial flight season. You can usually find them hanging out at the nest entrance. I actually stopped to watch some male fire ants and saw some nearby workers killing a honeybee drone just yesterday.
3:44 Tried reading this right to left and was so confused lol
I usually like playing an all female team just because I'm more confortable around females in life. Makes starting to games fun to get a female starter since I like to take my starter to the end regarless.
8:24 the only thing he was insecure about was publily showing is insterest in sweet foods in where you can either help him understand that its ok and no one will think lesser of him or give in to what other think of him and eat something spicy which he doesnt like
2:40 the true best pokemon team the BBP "big beautiful pokemon"
3:39 same thing with Haku from Naruto. It was also the case with Bridget from Guilty Gear.
Frame 1:00 is wild
When I was fighting Oleana I had a sudden moment of "OH! Her team is femme fatale-type Pokémon! That makes a lot of sense!" Believe me when I say I absolutely busted up laughing when her last 'mon came out with that theme in mind!
Your interpretation for Grimsley also fits with his theme of being a gambler. Instead of the smaller sized Pokémon being meaner, you can interpret them being "more Dark type" with underhanded tactics, deception and cunning to make up for their lack of power.
The expression of Mandibuzz in the thumbnail is so cute. Cute little bone bird
One of my favorite things between Volo and Cynthia’s teams is that they are gender swapped. Though with the notable exception that their Togekisses are the opposite gender so Volo’s is female while Cynthia’s is male
6:18 Hell yeah, we have the same pajamas pants
My deep lore for using only female Pokemon for the last decade: uhh I like girls
12:44
It's not a mistake, it's just how DVs work.
Oh hey! I actually use the tarot deck at 3:14! It's called the Deviant Moon Tarot!
XD
Also, Cyranno's a Monster F***er confirmed
1:41 You could've said "Big Bug Women"
2:35 This bit immediately got me to look up and play it back a couple times, just to be sure I heard that right.
I know what I am
Hey, the Portuguese title is horribly translated and really doesn't mean the same as the original English title, a more correct translation would be "Treinadores Pokémon com times apenas femininos...(legendado)", hope it helps, keep up the good work!
Meu mano ViniVerso, a lenda, o homi, o guerreiro, prazer em ver vc aq nessas áreas distintas do mundo pokemon
Since Grinsley is normally associated with gambling in the things I know him from, I figured that a mostly female team was about Lady Luck. With a majority female team, luck is usually always on his side, but then again, you can’t win em all. Essentially, he knows he’s out of luck when he’s down to his last Pokémon - assuming that it’s his lone male.
with one glance at him I could immediately tell why. the man was a rizzler back in his day,
he's got that dog in him
Cyrano has female starters so he can use them for breeding with other Pokémon and give the offspring to trainers. There's nothing weird going on there. In fact, it's pretty wholesome. That's also why he gives you a shiny Blitzle: he's just that charitable. It was also probably the offspring of his Zebstrika.
This was a great video, but I flinched every time you said Sai-RAH-no 😅
1:01 I see you with that Salazzle positioning. Respect.

These types of jokes always make me feel uncomfortable. It reminds me of stereotypes that men can’t act like this without being queer.
excuse me my guy but there's nothing wrong with having my- i mean your team as lopunny gardevoir meowscarada salazzle weavile and vaporeon you're just projecting
saddest breed of man
The scariest part is that all the pokemon are guys
@@NateWuzHere bruh how tf did you know that 💀
@@NateWuzHeresalazzle?
Try again
@@ESPmrBrough What have you done to them they must like your pokeballs
This good man knows what humour really is 🧐
Especially cursed if a male trainer had a female Vaporeon.
Did also want to add part of Saguaro's team is based around his love of sweets. Alcremie and Vespiqueen in particular. Milk and honey. ... which also may allude to some applicable lessons by Rupi Kaur as of this posting as I do an extra google search? Huh. Interesting.
Remember, both Grimsly and gay begin with g and end with y
12:04 did you say “Pokemon ‘Flatinum’”? lol
I personally always like to have a good balance, and it feels weird if it’s mostly one gender
7:37 that's just future Vernias
0:28 in scarlet and violet i had a mostly female team so I could shiny hunt eggs easier
