The musicians on "Silk Degrees" included David Paich (various keyboards & arrangements), Jeff Porcaro (drums/percussion), and David Hungate (bass) who, shortly thereafter, became members of Toto, while Fred Tackett (guitar) became a member of Little Feat. Also, when you reviewed "Lowdown" you used a live version performed in a jazz club years after 1977 -- so it was not the sound of the original record which is GREAT.

I first ran across Boz as the bass player on the Steve Miller Band's first two albums. His album Slow Dancer is very soulful and stunning. This album, Silk Degrees was phenomenal. I'd suggest going back to the album version of Lowdown (the video was good; the original album cut was a chart topper). What Can I Say and Harbor Lights are must hears from this album. But the title cut, Slow Dancer, You Make It Hard (To Say No) and Angel Lady from Slow Dancer are also must hears. Boz is still recording and his A Fool To Care album from 2015 is also very very good. Didn't know that Boz wrote this. Rita Coolidge recorded it, and I thought she wrote it, as she is a great songwriter.

Over the years, I've tried several times to write down my top ten favorite songs of all time. I always end up with two dozen songs tied at ten because I couldn't narrow it down. If I was ever forced to cut it to ten, this song would absolutely make it on the list. It's one of those songs that demands you crank the volume. Boz Scaggs is underrated as a songwriter and a great blues musician.

Oh, and Jeff Porcaro on drums and his brother on keyboards play on this jam about 5yr before they went on to from Toto! I never knew that but there's an obvious through-line from Jeff's shuffle here to possibly the *ultimate* rock shuffle of all time on "Rosanna" with Toto, a legendary drum riff :D

One day in 1989, I'm sitting in my allergist lobby in San Francisco waiting for my appointment with many others waiting for allergy shots. I see this guy sitting there and think, He looks just like Boz Scaggs, then the nurse calls out, "Boz" and he gets up to get his shot. Closest to fame I've ever gotten

the instrumental bridge about 2/3 way through the song, has got so many analog (ARPs and Moogs) synths layering up on chords! some other great songs by Boz Scaggs..."Lowdown," of course, "Miss Sun" (quite a catchy one), "We're All Alone" (a ballad, also recorded by Rita Coolidge, another female artist with quite an appealing voice, and arrestingly beautiful good looks too!), "Jojo" "Breakdown Dead Ahead" "Georgia" "It's Over" (more)

Imagine flying through the air on a pair of roller skates with people and coloured lights swirling all around you. The 80's...someone's got to bring back skate rinks.
