That page where Guts is trembling and reaching in vain for Casca as if he's silently pleading for her to not be taken away from him again, made my heart drop. That look of hopelessness and despair is an expression I never thought to see on Gut's face. This man needs a hug.
Yeah that face was a shock. I dont know whether Miura wanted it/would have drawn it as well the same way or is it an idea by the assistants. Guts never looked that hopeless, I think
@@ferzupoMithos Actually when I think on it, there was one (maybe a few times, been a while since I've read the older chapters) where he did have a look of despair (again going off of memory) during the Eclipse when he was worried for Casca/before Griffith became Femto. I'm going to have to check but I think there were others. Regardless, it was still a punch to the gut seeing Guts' face in this recent chapter.
Even if he kills Griffith, even with a "happy" ending... Guts will probably never have a truly peaceful life. I think the only peace would be when he is able to stop struggling, though that is probably only in death.
Yo let's pay some respect to one of the most underrated Berserk chads. Roderick sees one of his men get disintegrated in front of him and instead of running away his first thought is Farnese. Man's going to save his waifu no matter what
Kinda hated Roderick at first but he’s proven himself to be one of the realest dudes in the entire series and has his comrades backs. Especially Farnese.
@@drhashtagyolo the thing is, here guts already get over most of his trauma, fixing casca, get a lot of new friends, etc. Only to be taken again by Griffith effortlessly
Literally the last time we saw him with such an agonizing/pure despair look on his face was in The Sprint And just remembering his vow to not lose her again in the Feeble flame chapter just literally destroys the soul
@@drhashtagyolo Nah, in eclipse he never gave up. Even when he was pinned down, Guts was still struggling and trying to reach Casca. But this time around, he doesn't even have hope that he can reach her, his eyes look like he gave up
We’ve seen Guts sad before, but the look of pure desperation across his face as he reached out was a new level of hopelessness I’ve seen in him and fuck did it hurt to see
We gotta just say to ourselves, as much as we love how berserk is continuing, we are never going to have the same art style again, it's really close, at least to me, but miuras art will never be completely copied, but that's okay, the story that's happening right now is miuras all things considered, and I think in its own way, is just the way miura wanted, even if it's not perfect
To think that Casca just got her memories unlocked, only to be taken away from Guts in just a few days is hard to swallow. All that suffering that he went through physically, mentally and spiritually was basically all in vain. I worry for Guts losing control and the armor completely engulfs him, his rage and the beast of darkness finally taking control of his existence. Which I hope doesn’t happen.
The way it all looks it’s honestly so hard to tell whether he’ll be consumed by rage or despair over this. Only one of those I imagine the beast of darkness being unleashed. The alternative would be Guts will have to be saved by Skull Knight, Schierke, and/or Farnese because he is so defeated and has, in that moment, given up. It’s more fitting for Guts to unleash the beast of darkness but I can entirely see Guts just falling to his knees and accepting his fate only for someone to come save him.
With the way the manga in going, I’m afraid the manga might not even have a good ending. Maybe the next hole thing about the manga was to teach that the weak get abused and the strong exploit them. I so hope I’m wrong
the last few chapters had a couple times where looking at guts just destroyed me. this, and when he went to help caska after she started remembering the eclipse and he realizes he can't help her (359)
In a perfect world, the story shifts to focus on Casca for a while. One of my least favorite things about the series is that Casca, while being such an important character, didn't have any real agency for most of the story. This is the perfect time to focus on her and start to develop her in the way that Guts has been developed. Sperating her from Guts, while painful, will allow her to stand on her own as a character.
yes please god, i´m very scared casca just went from no agency potato to plot device kidnapped by griffith so guts goes to him. she needs to have her own development pov and relationship to guts griffith and maybe charlotte, the new band of the hawk, the oracle, etc.. not just as an unreachable goal for guts
Yes! Casca development would be amazing. She’s easily one of my favorite characters and she still has so much untapped potential from a story standpoint.
As much as I appreciate the work they've done, you can really feel the absence of Miura. Artwork is good but to even say one of the best panels of Berserk, seems a bit of a stretch, imo.
@@Yoodom you're right, I've misunderstood favorite with best. About the story I'm not complaining at all, mostly about paneling, artwork and sometimes dialogues.
I couldn’t care if the art isn’t murias, it’s still incredible, the flow of chaos and all the facial expressions used to sway the audience was all on point, these new chapters have all been great
Miura may gone but his legacy arent. As a person who grew up with berserk i really want to see conclusion of story, guts and casca finally together, and i dont know what happen to griffith but i want griffith suffer.
I feel as though the more they do the better they will become and really settle into their style. They have the herculean task of following arguably the GOAT in terms of utterly absurd attention to detail especially in the past couple arcs, a style cultivated and refined for nearly 30 years and releasing chapters so sparingly later on. The fact its been this good so far makes me very hopeful for the future of the series, this chapter broke my god damn heart with Guts' expressions.
Duranki was done entirely by Miura's staff and that one was extremely close to Berserk's style. Even if not perfect, I always knew this would be the best case scenario and I'm happy for it.
Seeing the rage slowly consume Guts over the years has not been fun to watch, but it doesn't hurt me like seeing his despair does. In this instance and when Casca regained her mind, but couldn't look at Guts without being re-traumatized, Guts had such a look of despair on his face that it hurt me to my core. I just want this man to be happy.
So, I got a theory on how to subvert griffiths powers. OK, so guts was only able to take a hair off of griffith when he STOPPED his own blade. When was the only other time griffith took a hit since femto was when rickhert slapped him. Why? It all goes back to what guts said to rickhert. " you could never really hate griffith " That line is so important and a major hint. Guts sword only touched griffith when he wasn't focused on him. Rickhert only hit griffith because he didn't hate him. The only way to kill griffith is not to bare any malice or hatred towards him. This would also be narratively perfect. Because the only way for guts to kill griffith now is to ,ironically, move past revenge and heal from all that griffith did to him
They are so many important and major hints in berserk Like when guts said Griffith will go higher and higher his ambition grows like that idk I forgot Does that mean Griffith will betray godhand/idea Of Evil Our he planning to secriface whole fucking goddamn falconia to achieve god like power? Sorry for bad English (it's not my native language)
It’s moments like this chapter where I really start to understand that there can’t be anything redeeming left in Griffith. For the longest time I wanted him to have some sort of humanity show within him but fuck. God fucking dammit the face on guts makes me want to pick up the dragon slayer and absolutely decimate Griffith
@@Keith_E Griffith was never a good guy lol. All he did was create a fake paradise, just so he can live achieve his dre selfishly in exchange of the world
In terms of art, dialogue and story it was the best chapter of the new team. There's only one Miura, there's no replacement for his talent. The best the new team can do is to bring the story to its satisfactory end based on Miura's original intentions. They did a very good job with the chapter; some panels were very similar to How Miura would've drawn them, there's some essence of him in them although it's obviously different. The Roderick part was the best in the chapter imo, it was the most Miura like and was drawn very well. They finally had more dialogue which is a huge improvement compared to their previous 3 chapters. The team needs to work to get Gut's face right, because there are some panels where it's good, and some where they miss the mark, but they're more or less accurate with the other characters.
I seriously like how they kept the quiet moments of Berserk even now. 0 dialogue from Guts, his eyes tell us everything we need to know. He's never been closer to having Casca and now she's as far away as she's ever been from him. He has no words for what he's seeing. I wouldnt be surprised if we get a period of a chapter or 2 where Guts is completley depressed and defeated, we've seen Guts look that way for a brief period before but it was almost instantly overcome by his inner rage. It has never quite lasted this long. I think Guts spent time in a normal-ish life and was focused more on where to go after the events of the story till that point and emotionally softened a little bit. He got comfortbale with the idea that Casca is back and she can live a normal life and after having to be emotionally strong enough to know his loved one is safe but they can never see each other again due to her trauma yet still not breakdown. It wouldn't surprise me if we see Guts' full emotions on display in the next chapter. A mix of rage, sadness, depression, anxiety. Completely unfiltered until someone shakes him out of it.
Casca safe what are you talking about mate, she is now at the hands of the most evil person in the serie the man who sacrifice her and destroyed her life she is a sacrifice being teleported to the falconia were thousands of apostles and demons there know that she is a sacrifice she is at the most dangerous place as a sacrifice the only hope for her is that Griffith emotions are being controlled a little bit by her son the moon light boy and for most likely Griffith can't harm her
@@egriz4461 I didn;t say she was safe now, but after her memories had returned and for a brief time it felt like Elfheim was a safe place for her to live in. Guts believed for a short while that she might be safe staying there.
The art is amazing, miura legacy really handled by right person(s), it can't be perfectly same, but it's the best we can get No words, no dialogue, but, this panels, really understandable, for us, the reader, to feel what's guts feels, the pain, the suffer, the desperate, 99 out if 100, only the GOAT miura himself that can pass this chapter
Been hating Griffith since 1999 when I was introduced to berserk through the anime. Kuddos to Miura and now his legacy for making me hate a fictional character so much. I don't think anyone comes close, not even the Governor from the walking dead comic books.
@@johnnywantyoudead5113 I have honestly no idea how such a story could end in a satisfying way. I think Guts overpowering Griffith is out of the question, even with the armor being used at 100%. The moonlight child seems to be the only weakness of Griffith right now.
The crushing part for me was that Guts had genuinely started to heal since gathering his party. I'm afraid for what will happen to them and what it will mean for Guts in the end.
Poor Guts is reliving his trauma. Everything around is crumbling and being engulfed by monsters, once again Casca is being taken away and all he could do is watch helplessly. A moment of peace and happiness, all taken away by the man who is responsible for his tragic life.
Bro, I just hope that Casca isn't going to get princess Peached and get some actual development. She is such an important character and has been completely stagnant and robbed of her agency for way too long.
fr everyone's like "poor guts" and don't get me wrong i agree and i almost shed a tear from seeing guts so desperate and hopeless but casca just got kidnapped by her rapist... it doesnt make it less fucked up taking under consideration that she has recently got her memories back :(
She at least could too face the ttauma and resourceful try to get her agency back, maybe try gaining allies to betray griffith, wake charlotte up from her illusions.
I don't necessarily think that's a bad thing in itself. Not every character has to have agency if it doesn't serve the narrative. There's definitely good stories that can be told where she does get more agency, but are those stories the *right* story? Maybe, maybe not.

Damn I really relate to Guts on a personal level. My mother had a C-Section while giving birth to me almost dying in the process, I've had More Downs than Ups and any happy moment in my life is always overshadowed by some bad moments. It's so tiring trying to and hoping to live a positive life. I found out about Berserk from my brother and watched the (OG anime) in one siting. To all the struggers out there let's not lose hope and keep on fighting. Thank you Miura for this Masterpiece.
The change in artstyle really does make it feel like a truly new era for Berserk, and we just have to accept it. That being said, they haven't missed so far
The utter despair and hopelessness on Guts' face was unlike the sort of fear we've seen him feel in recent years. It was painful to watch, reminded me of Guts right after the Eclipse. Ch. 368 magnificently broke my heart. The chapter left me unfathomably sad, it was that good. I feel a void in my heart for these characters that I care so much about. I'm so glad we got more dialogue in this chapter but the heaviest things were said by simple expressions.
Even if Kentaro Miura's art style isn't exactly "there" anymore, its still incredibly detailed and mindblowing how talented these artists are following Miura's passing. They got every emotion right, and I wholeheartedly commend them for that
Imo it’s definitely “mock Miura” in the sense that it looks like a team of really skilled artists trying to emulate Miura’s art and getting close but not quite there. Which imo is okay/as good as we could’ve hoped for. It might not be Miura’s art but imo it’s close and does like it wonderful. It doesn’t look very out of place compared to what we’re used to which says *a lot* about how good it is.
These recent chapters art is different but still good although I and many others would have preferred or wanted miura s art but this art kind of feels kind of right not perfect or imperfect it’s different but well done and I’ve seen and heard many people say the art is bad not pleasing enough not the old berserk I really miss the old art and Miura but this chapter is well done in my opinion and I do personally think that in a few chapters the art will get progressively better and better but shout out to the assistants and miuras friend who took over
Given Miura's pure obsession over the artwork of his works a drop in quality is to be expected, however the way in which emotion is conveyed in the face has not changed from the looks of it
In all of Guts battles, to the smallest skirmish to the terrors of the abyss, we see his Unparalleled skill, his indomitable will, and his burning rage propel him to impossible heights, But in this moment he is reminded of one cruel truth, he is “powerless”.
although this isnt a huge problem i still saw so many people who were upset about how guts reacted to griffith taking casca and calling him weak or saying his reaction didn’t make sense, which completely blows my mind as to how some people can completely misunderstand berserk.
I'm not upset but this reaction is weird. Guts has had many moments to show PTSD and whenever faced with it he never breaks down, he fights through. The last time he saw Casca and Griffith together on the hill of swords, he charged at Griffith. Like he did here. It's not about just rage anymore. Guts finally got Casca back, he finally found some semblance of peace with friends. The best development for Guts is to fight not for his rage but to protect what he loves. That's literally his goal for the entire manga: finding something to truly fight for with his sword. Then, he just lets it go? This just feels like a regression in development. This just seems like cheap bait for Guts to finally visit Griffith at his utopia, and if that's the case they might feel rushed to get to the ending.
It might be cause Guts, as many other characters didn't react the way the actual character was portrayed across chapters, people here can say "moron new readers who doesn't understand Berserk" all they want, but, there was no real purpose for Griffith to take Casca the way he did, for what? ask her if she wants to join him like Rikkert? to piss of Guts?. Griffith already mentioned how he understood he didn't really care about the eclipse and the band of the Hawk being all just another steep to reach his dream. The reaction of Guts is not the problem, is the circumstances around it. Dropping a sad face in defeat instead of a mixture of rage and loss overflowing as he fights to keep the Berserker armor from eating him, that would have been Guts. The real reaction from Griffith would had been to just finally see why he had those dreams (cause of moon child) and just like that piss off cause there was no point in doing nothing at that moment of realization, just keep on going with his dream as Guts and Casca struggle to understand WTF just happen and why (cause he is their child and they don't know it) that would had been great cause now moon child could even want to visit again over Griffith's will and what would had been Guts and Casca reaction when they understand that Grifith physical form is actually their soon, moonchild. That would had break Casca and Guts 1000 times more than Griffith just kidnapping Casca for reasons and fu@ing it all around cause, why not? Not to mention NONE did nothing about Griffiths presence other than Guts, NONE, not even Skullknight, you know, the guy who would had jumped straight into facing a member of the goodhand a few steeps away from where he is...nah, lets just help this kid as the Hawk is right there doing as he please...nevermind,, is fine, but no way is how things should had developed in that situation. Ok, lets rescue Casca now, i guess >.>
I think we should see more of Casca SAVING HERSELF! Have Casca DO SOMETHING! She has her personality returned and finally has the capability to have agency to make decisions. It can't all be up to Guts, he isn't capable of doing it alone.
It's the fact that guts perseveres all his tragedy just to make it to the next day he will save casca but he can never be with her and I'm ok with it just as long as guts can finally take Griffith down
"This is not kentaro miura" my man. No artist draws in the exact same style even if they're from the same school. You're also forgetting that miura had over 30 years of experience drawing these characters while most of his assistants are under 30 years OF AGE. This people are absurdly talented in their own right and they're doing a rather impressive style adaptation. I think they could reach parity with the man himself with enough practice.
@@Sohelanthropus I mean it's not the same line quality and not the same composition consistency but overall it's the exact same style and it's very obviously an attempt at a style replica, from the way hatching is done to the usage of black and grey (which is a miura staple, most mangas are mostly pure white with few lines)
@@davidtirado2330 it's the most close drawing you will ever get to Miura. People need to stop complaining and be happy there a few people who can mimick his style close.
He’s not ripping on it dude lol he’s just saying that it is clear muira had a style nobody can replicate. That doesn’t change the fact that it still looks fucking amazing
I think this moment of Griffith taking casca really seals Griffiths doom because Griffith can’t have casca she is his sacrifice he lost any right to her as soon he became a member of the godhand. To then deny them the sacrifice is a betrayal of that deal but Griffith won’t give casca up he’s always been insatiable if he wants something he takes it consequences be damned I don’t think he’ll outright be de powered or willingly give up his streangth but his favor with apostles and the godhand will wane his influence over the world will start to fail and just like in golden age his downfall will be because of his hubris and believing he’s untouchable. And regardless of how he inevitably falls guts is the reason it will, happen by choosing to protect casca and simply living he’s preserved something that Griffith wants but can’t have and he’s already shown that he doesn’t take that sort of thing well.
Im just really happy that theyre keeping the series alive and well. You can see the passion that the team is putting in to keeping the berserk great. also the dates at the end of each chapter detailing the release of the new chapters is very much welcome. new chapter was still really sad tho :(
I totally agree with the art. It is not Miura's style and it will never be. I just checked the conviction arc just to compare the shadows of idea and instantly Miura's shadows of idea was a thousand times detailed compared to this chapter. It is just haunting to look at. However, even if it's not as good as Miura's style, the latest chapter just perfectly shows us how good the Studio is doing. The pacing, the paneling, the emotions portrayed in this chapter was just as good as how Miura portrayed it. I still fucking hate Griffith even more now seeing Guts face defeated and lost. That just shows how good the Studio is doing making us readers still feel this kind of anger and hatred towards Griffith and sadness and emptiness towards Guts. The art "downgrade" totally did not diminish my enjoyment for this series. It is not bad by any chance, it is just a different artstyle. Miura's art was just a bonus for my enjoyment for this series because he clearly portrayed it in his drawings how haunting this world is.
The way Griffith acts in this chapter makes me feel that he sees all of his connections as his property rather than peers. His emotionlessness while abducting Casca makes it seem like it’s just second nature for him to claim what “is his”. I assume he saw it this way with all of the hawks during the eclipse and he sees it this way for all the members of his kingdom. This also might be the reason Griffith did what he did to Casca during the eclipse. Since he perceived her as his property he felt it was in his right to do what he wanted with her, no matter how depraved. Side Note: Guts holding back his rage against Griffith and stopping himself from attacking him shows how, regardless of whether he thinks it or not, he’s grown as a person. Just what I got from the chapter though, great analysis as always.
That was always the case with him, he sees everything as his property. Guts and Casca are still "his sacrifices". He wasn't going to settle after achieving his "dream", as Guts mentioned when they arrived to the island. His ambition knows no bounds. He wants everything under his control and perhaps that's not even his final goal. He was never going let them live in peace on the island.
@@rpgadventurer32 What I’m saying is on top of that it feels like Griffith just abducted Casca for no other reason than the fact the he could. I may be wrong here, but if not It really shows how detached from reality he’s truly become.
@@GetInVan What motivates him is his endless ambition and obsession about control, and these aspects became the main character traits he's had after losing his humanity, he's motivated solely by these negative sentiments. There may be extra reasons for her abduction, like wanting her to stay close by so the moonlight child won't travel beyond the city each month, now that he's finished using the boy's transformation to infiltrate the island and destroy it from within. He could've done it out of spite and as i mentioned in my previous post. He may want both of them in Falconia for his plans. He achieved his main goal of destroying the island and the spirit tree. So what's next?
@@GetInVan he’s doing it for a reason. By doing this he’s getting rid of one of his weaknesses since now the moon child will appear wherever he keeps casca.
He already had a tendency to see people like that before the eclipse even if he didn't fully realize it. Becoming Femto massively multiplied that trait and stripped away almost anything good left in there
This chapter actually made me cry….. I can’t really Remember a time I saw guts like this. No matter how hard he tries casca will always seem to be moving away from him
You rarely ever see Guts with that kind of expression and demeanor, just pure despair and defeat simply collapsing. Guts really can't have shit as long as Griffith is alive huh?
This almost brought me to tears, after everything Guts has fought for and achieved he is right back where he started so many years ago, the only person he loves in the arms of the greatest monster to ever live and he is utterly powerless to stop Griffith.
Honestly this is my favorite of the new chapters so far. It was much longer and put to rest my fears of less dialogue. Most of the closeup frames were perfect, Skull knight looked amazing, and Zod looked noticeably more detailed than last chapter. That full page spread of Zod is incredible. I think one chapter a month is perfect for this level of quality. It’s never going to be at the level of Miura, but the art is noticeably improved in this chapter, and I feel it’s a more accurate representation of Miura’s style, even in the paneling.
I think we all know what’s gonna happen, this is it, guts will finally give in to the armor. For one it doesn’t seem that Griffith will lose his power anytime soon so guts was gonna need a buff at some point anyway. Two, it was kinda foreshadowed by the dwarf who made the armor for skull knight when they discussed how it consumed him and also by guts himself during his training session when he lost grip of his sword and basically said “I need the armor” then ironically the child pops out of the armor. I could see guts in his despair turn to the armor, give himself to it then skull knight is the only one who can get through to him. The knight would reveal the full details of his life and demise, then bring guts back in a way that would allow guts to keep his soul and sanity but also wield the full power of the armor. This would serve as a redemptive feat for skull knight since he was the “beneficiary” of the previous eclipse and largely a parallel to guts.
Vagabond and Vinland Saga had farming arcs...i wonder if Berserk will have a Blacksmithing Arc??? That would be kinda sick. Deep introspection while smithing swords and learning a craft. Memories of talks with Godo about how one day he just started smithing and the next day he was an old man. How the sparks of metal hitting metal represent his life force being shown for only but a second in time. Guts relates this to when he battles enemies as well. The lives and stories of all the enemies he faces clashing swords is represented through those sparks. I think this was such a beautiful moment in the series and really noticed it after re-reading from the beginning. It would be nice to come back to this moment and just have Guts go full zen after all this struggling...it's just too much
Roderick has been so much more brave than I ever thought he’d be when we were first shown his character . I’m hoping he pulls through so he can see Farnese one more time
Why does Guts have to lose Casca again.. this is so heartbreaking and at such pivotal moment where she regains her memories only for her to be snatched from Guts again- I can't, this is torture and I don't even want to imagine how long we'd have to wait again for them to reunite. WTF!!!
I’ve never seen Guts look so devastated since the eclipse. That one illustration of his face looking towards Casca in the sky, so far from her, is something that’ll forever stick with me.
This is it The line has been crossed way too many times. Every time we could do nothing but watch as he had his way with everything Every time he would take what he wanted and nothing could even so much as to inconvenience him. No more! NO MORE!! This ends now We march at his gate Burn down his castle Tear apart his dream and claim his skull I can't take the pain anymore it's time to get some payback
I think we’re all overlooking something here and that’s Guts’s behilit. We all know it activates at a persons lowest point and this is by far the worst we’ve seen guts since the eclipse. He couldn’t protect casca, he couldn’t hurt Griffith, he couldn’t save or protect his friends from the demons invading, and demons and monsters can now invade and destroy his last safe place elfhelm. If guts’s behilit activates it would be here and could explain why Griffith was silent because he knows what’s coming and he’s setting it up on purpose to kill 2 birds with one stone by corrupting guts by having him sacrifice his friends to save casca. That way he gets rid of the last wizards and witches and guts by being able to subjugate him as an apostle. If this actually happens even just the activation ( I seriously doubt guts would actually do it) I’ll probably blow up a building from pure rage and sadness just from seeing him in that situation.
That's a f*cking stab in my heart. For Caska to fall in the hands of f*ckin Griffith again is probably Gut's and Caska's worst nightmare come to life. As if "never again this shall happen" but it just did
The single panel of Guts' hopeless pain in his eye actually broke me. You can absolutely feel his distraught knowing the one thing he wanted was finally brought back only to lose her again before he could ever do anything. The sadness in his eye was so very expressive. I kinda cried. I just want him to be happy.
I've never went from crying tears of joy to going to intense rage so quickly. When i started reading the new chapter I cried of happiness that Berserk is continuing and looking amazing like always. And then I got so mad that mah poor Boi Guts just can't have anything nice because the universe doesn't get tired of screwing with him. GOD DAMMIT GRIFFITH!!!
368's art is way better than all the other chapters by Mori and the Studio. How the hell can people say this is worse than 367 which was so bad? Roderick's panels looked so much like Miuras style.
Just sent a picture of the panel of Guts’ hand reaching to the sky to my friend who is still catching up on Berserk and told him to be ready. No other context
I really want Zodd dead after this chapter man he is a Nuisance that Guts is getting tired of. Now I think Guts is going to rush ahead in terms of getting power and I think Guts could possibly end up like the skull knight because of it. But I really think Guts is getting pushed over an edge and he's going to gain new powers because of it.
@@RealKoolKid1 I just really want him dead Zodd is becoming the biggest prick in manga. I really want guts to kill him so badly if the skull knight does it fine that's cool but I'd prefer Guts to get the kill on this POS.
Zodd going from a semi-honorable rival (by the standards of apostles) to a flat out worthless obstacle is a good transformation, show how rotten all of them are.
That one panel where they show Gut’s face as he desperately reaches out to casca, that took me a minute to take in. That scene made me remember all the painful events guts went through, and as he finally gets a moment of rest, Casca gets ripped off from arms length. The desperation, hopelessness, sadness, anger, all formed in one face. It may not be kentaro’s artstyle, but they sure did a damn good job projecting the emotions of this character.
The whole journey to heal Casca just for Griffin to take her away in a few minute, great. This series really want to kick Guts around and give Griffin so much cookies... One few bright moments of this chapter, Isidro doesnt make cringe jokes and Puck is still in his non-chestnut form, amazing. Miura wrote so many great chapters in recent years but he messed around with cringe Isidro and chestnut Puck too much for my taste so i hope the new team will tone down them a little bit more this time.
Guts needs this to refuel his killing instincts, he was almost done with fighting and willing to leave it all, this will make him think about it and do a last effort to defeat Griffith.
@@Rob526 And he just have the power of willingness and not giving up, that's why he's awesome. Now he has many more friends, I'm sure they'll come up with some smart plan to retake Casca and defeat Griffith.
People kept complaining how it became a regular fantasy and what not...but how little did they know...how little did we all know of how close this was.
This is the first time guts lose his will to fight, he fight to protect casca only to lose her again, even after all the hell he go through. #peyn #struggleneverends
Griffith taking Casca is obviously the Catalyst for what will probably be the last arc of the manga. I mean it gives Guts and Co. A pretty serious reason for going to Falconia and confronting Griffith. Honestly I feel that at the rate it was going, if Casca had not been kidnapped immediately after her recovery she may have been able to soothe Gut's lust for revenge and convince him to give up trying to kill Griffith, maybe even to just settle down on the island or somewhere else. The actions of Griffith these past few chapters has just re-stoked the embers of Gut's fire and need for revenge.
the fact that just a few chapters ago guts was finally at peace and content only to have it all taken away from him once again... i feel so much for guts because he can never catch a break
With this new level of helplessness seen in gut's expression the only thing I could think of is how well the new artists have been doing, I'm glad that they've successfully been able to capture Berserk's darkness does give me hope for the future of the series.
i know this book is violent in all ways but can we talk about how GRUESOME that panel was with the guy getting sucked in by those blob of demons??? i DID NOT expect it to be that graphic lmaoo
If Guts ever does it, it would solve all his problems and he would fight on equal terms against Femto, if not better. But it would still feel like cheating, and it would remove the delicious taste of the storytelling. Guts finding another solution than the behelit, a solution better than cheating, is all I can hope for. Like, if there are demonic gods or angels, what about the good ones and what is the solution they'd offer ? We've seen demonic, evil, dire and powerful upper creatures. But what of the ones that are powerful, but not demonic ? Where are they hiding ? The scale between good and bad is unstable, and heavier on the side of the bad so far. There got to be something not yet revealed behind the behelit's creation.
@@eddyalvaross2195 If I was writing the story, Guts would probably reach a point where he's in the same spot as Griffith. Sacrifice his new friends for ultimate power, but Guts would have the willpower to refuse. Right now, it seems the key for Guts to winning the fight is Schierke or his "kid".
I honestly don't care about the art style, heck it can look like One's art style from the Web comic one punch man, as long as ik how it ends I would be happy
To me, the only issues I’ve personally had with the latest chapters we’ve received have been the first few having a very jumpy pacing and not really connecting panel-to-panel very well from a storytelling standpoint and every now and again the artstyle looks a lil funky. Other than that, I think they’ve done a phenomenal job at continuing to tell Berserk’s story in an artstyle that still feels like Berserk. I think almost everyone looks spot on from their Miura counterparts with the exception of the big 3. Guts, Griffith, and Casca. Those 3 distinctly have a new artstyle to them however, to me personally they are very much still recognizable and still incredibly well drawn and realized. And I gotta say, out of all the chapters release under Kouji Mori, 368 has been the best one thus far. It was well paced, the panel and pacing issues from the previous chapters weren’t as bad here, the artstyle is gradually getting better and finding where it’ll stay for the rest of the run, and the story still continues to feel like Berserk to me which is the most important part.

True as fuck that our love for him is like a truck.
Theoretically they could copy Miura's artstyle, but do you really want hiatuses to return?
If the armor truly consumes him he will probably become something like Skull Knight
With the way the manga in going, I’m afraid the manga might not even have a good ending. Maybe the next hole thing about the manga was to teach that the weak get abused and the strong exploit them. I so hope I’m wrong

this, and when he went to help caska after she started remembering the eclipse and he realizes he can't help her (359)
In a perfect world, the story shifts to focus on Casca for a while. One of my least favorite things about the series is that Casca, while being such an important character, didn't have any real agency for most of the story. This is the perfect time to focus on her and start to develop her in the way that Guts has been developed. Sperating her from Guts, while painful, will allow her to stand on her own as a character.
this is wise
really hope this will happen
yes please god, i´m very scared casca just went from no agency potato to plot device kidnapped by griffith so guts goes to him. she needs to have her own development pov and relationship to guts griffith and maybe charlotte, the new band of the hawk, the oracle, etc.. not just as an unreachable goal for guts
Yes! Casca development would be amazing. She’s easily one of my favorite characters and she still has so much untapped potential from a story standpoint.
Casca wants to be with Griffith anyways, especially now that he is on top of the world again.
That shot of guts just staring and reaching out for casca as she is being taken prolly one of my favorite panels in berserk
Same. It’s amazing how well they’re continuing to tell Miura’s story.
Real, man, real. I just came back from reading the chapter, still tears in my eyes. Defo one of my most fav panels of all time.
As much as I appreciate the work they've done, you can really feel the absence of Miura. Artwork is good but to even say one of the best panels of Berserk, seems a bit of a stretch, imo.
@@paoloterranova2079 the one of Puck is arguably one of the best.
The art can be forgiven because there will never be another Miura, but the panels are much too zoomed in
To me , the last chapter has really good art, they improved a lot in only three chapters

" you could never really hate griffith "
That line is so important and a major hint.
Guts sword only touched griffith when he wasn't focused on him. Rickhert only hit griffith because he didn't hate him.
The only way to kill griffith is not to bare any malice or hatred towards him.
This would also be narratively perfect. Because the only way for guts to kill griffith now is to ,ironically, move past revenge and heal from all that griffith did to him
Hmnmmm
killing a bear while showing no killing intent Just Like Tanjiro vs akaza Fight The Absolute State

I don't have anything to add to this comment, just simply this is best one I've read in this section.
Another similar manga ruclips.net/user/shortsYiKokWukIWo?feature=share
art was on point except for a few of the faces. And Skull Knight’s giraffe

It would be a great starting point for the next arc to have her pov.
With Luca in Falconia, Casca will most certainly have her own storyline next arc. Especially with her still having to overcome her trauma
I don't necessarily think that's a bad thing in itself. Not every character has to have agency if it doesn't serve the narrative. There's definitely good stories that can be told where she does get more agency, but are those stories the *right* story? Maybe, maybe not.

although this isnt a huge problem i still saw so many people who were upset about how guts reacted to griffith taking casca and calling him weak or saying his reaction didn’t make sense, which completely blows my mind as to how some people can completely misunderstand berserk.
It's probably just the teen edge lords that just discovered the series
Probably just edgelords who can't tell the difference between the guy from Hatred and Guts
Ok, lets rescue Casca now, i guess >.>
seeing GUTS sad/ hopeless face during the end of the chapter; I've never felt so much hate right now for griffith
I think we should see more of Casca SAVING HERSELF! Have Casca DO SOMETHING! She has her personality returned and finally has the capability to have agency to make decisions. It can't all be up to Guts, he isn't capable of doing it alone.

@@Sohelanthropus I mean it's not the same line quality and not the same composition consistency but overall it's the exact same style and it's very obviously an attempt at a style replica, from the way hatching is done to the usage of black and grey (which is a miura staple, most mangas are mostly pure white with few lines)

Becoming Femto massively multiplied that trait and stripped away almost anything good left in there
HE CAN’T KEEP GETTING AWAY WITH IT!!!!! HE CAN’T KEEP GETTING AWAY WITH IT!!!!!
Griffith will never let Guts be happy. That is the honest truth.
This almost brought me to tears, after everything Guts has fought for and achieved he is right back where he started so many years ago, the only person he loves in the arms of the greatest monster to ever live and he is utterly powerless to stop Griffith.
studio gaga is doing berserk and miura justice and it just makes me so happy man, this is the best possible timeline for berserk.
Yeah agreed, zodd was looking super weird in some panels but now he looks way more better drawn
Gut's anguish almost distracted me from the fact that Griffith is copping a feel.
That evil asshole. Just twist that fucking knife again...
That expression of guts 😔 it really hurt man
Finally, we can understand what's Skull Knight saying. He usually talks about Causality and whatnot.
The art style change is only fitting, the art reflects the change in artist, and now that casca is gone again, it’s changing
All I have to say is I better see Casca at some point give Griffith a good ol' Rickert special right across his smug angelic face.
It would be nice to come back to this moment and just have Guts go full zen after all this struggling...it's just too much
I'm really looking forward to Casca being a POV character in Falconia, that could be VERY interesting
100% agree. Fantasia has been an absolutely amazing arc. Probably my 3rd favorite after the Golden Age and Millennium Falcon arc.
WTF!!!
Bigger question is will casca go insane if Griffith tortures her again
We back to normal, just pain...
I’ve never seen Guts look so devastated since the eclipse. That one illustration of his face looking towards Casca in the sky, so far from her, is something that’ll forever stick with me.
This is it
The line has been crossed way too many times. Every time we could do nothing but watch as he had his way with everything
Every time he would take what he wanted and nothing could even so much as to inconvenience him.
No more! NO MORE!!
This ends now
We march at his gate
Burn down his castle
Tear apart his dream and claim his skull
I can't take the pain anymore
it's time to get some payback
First we need to find Rickert; the one with the only weapon that can harm Griffith
@@Rusty_Spy the chad slaps is a weapon of its' own
I think we’re all overlooking something here and that’s Guts’s behilit.
That defeated hopeless face of Guts made me wanna hug him and... Just... You've gone this far, Guts, and you can still go 🥺
Guts is gonna go crazy next chapter with the berserker armor, I can already see it.
368's art is way better than all the other chapters by Mori and the Studio. How the hell can people say this is worse than 367 which was so bad? Roderick's panels looked so much like Miuras style.
Wait, how many have they done without him? I thought this was the first.
@@DIEGhostfish I think 365-368 are not made by Miura. 364 was the last chapter released in a volume 41.
@@wanderer4869 Oh wow didn't realize how much had come out since then I thought all the events were one chapter.
Just sent a picture of the panel of Guts’ hand reaching to the sky to my friend who is still catching up on Berserk and told him to be ready. No other context
''you cant keep getting away with this''
griffith: OBSERVE
I really want Zodd dead after this chapter man he is a Nuisance that Guts is getting tired of. Now I think Guts is going to rush ahead in terms of getting power and I think Guts could possibly end up like the skull knight because of it. But I really think Guts is getting pushed over an edge and he's going to gain new powers because of it.
Skull knight is gonna wreck Zodd
Just when Guts could rest.........
Guts needs this to refuel his killing instincts, he was almost done with fighting and willing to leave it all, this will make him think about it and do a last effort to defeat Griffith.
Homie is so crippled though, he can't even swooshy swooshy sword no more. :"(
@@Rob526 And he just have the power of willingness and not giving up, that's why he's awesome. Now he has many more friends, I'm sure they'll come up with some smart plan to retake Casca and defeat Griffith.
I think he won't...I don't want him to become like how he was in the black swordsman arc
@@justajobro1266 not that way, I mean he was starting to lose his will of fight
@@Fixundfertig1 ohh I see
People kept complaining how it became a regular fantasy and what not...but how little did they know...how little did we all know of how close this was.
This is the first time guts lose his will to fight, he fight to protect casca only to lose her again, even after all the hell he go through.

I have an odd feeling that Griffith is not going to die at the end of the story. Idk what will happen but i feel as if that won’t be the conclusion.
eternal suffering is his fate no matter what bc he’s a god
The anger of guts will be next level that berserk armor is in for a work out.
Who else shedded a couple of tears reading this chapter 😭
the fact that just a few chapters ago guts was finally at peace and content only to have it all taken away from him once again... i feel so much for guts because he can never catch a break
Love your videos!
instead of giving into traumatic depression, after Casca realizes everything later, I want her to go into a rage similar to Guts.
agh god DAMMIT WE WON'T SEE MASKED MAN DRESSED AS A MAID!!
With this new level of helplessness seen in gut's expression the only thing I could think of is how well the new artists have been doing, I'm glad that they've successfully been able to capture Berserk's darkness does give me hope for the future of the series.
the armor will get an upgrade it's inevitable
i know this book is violent in all ways but can we talk about how GRUESOME that panel was with the guy getting sucked in by those blob of demons??? i DID NOT expect it to be that graphic lmaoo
If I had to guess, they're probably going to try to push Guts to accept a behelit.
@@bendover7841 That's not really a plot twist, that's what the manga has been hinting at him doing this whole time.
@@bendover7841 that would destroy 30 years of character writing
The single panel of his hand reaching literally got me. I felt tears. No words were needed.
I honestly don't care about the art style, heck it can look like One's art style from the Web comic one punch man, as long as ik how it ends I would be happy
This was to be expected honestly, we needed a reason for conflict between Guts and Griffith and protecting Casca was Gut's Pirority
O Berserk hurting us again... Feels nostalgic.
