On my 22 650, at 70 mph im at 6,000rpm. At 90 I am at around 7000. I don’t get to 11,000 rpm until I’m at 128 slight downhill. Totally agree with you though. Bike feels unstable with higher speed. It is an awesome bike though and can still move up if in a tight spot no doubt. I still want to trade in my 650 for a 636 for the extra umph, wind protection, and how i usually drive. I like to ride tucked in because of the wind and just my personality.
Luv the video I also have the 650 had it for two years wanted to trade it in two months after for the 636 but wanted to hold off because I felt like the dealer was trying to rob me without a gun I mean I had my first oil change schedule for the break in under 500 miles so long story short I kept it and giving it to my wife but I was on the fence between the zx10 or zx6 and u made a lot of sense so thanks ride safe bro
@@waliwhite1 update. The lady and I ended up getting the 23 zx6r and kept the 650. Zx6r is nuts. We plan on riding on separate bikes which is totally goals for me. Since she’s not as experience as me, she will only be riding the 650. Waiting until it’s out of the shop to ride. I feel much safer and confident in the 636. I would wobble with the 650 when we did pillion. 636 takes us away. Still has the power and you will never have a doubt. I’m happy the lady let us keep both instead of trading.
I’m a beginner rider & I bought the ninja 650 a week ago as my first bike & everything you said about the highway was on point. Traffic usually flows at 80-85 where I’m at & there’s no power left in 5th gear. It seems like I’m stressing the bike to keep up & its still not enough. In the city it’s feel good but if you’re doing a lot of highway miles I don’t think it’s good.

Never took it on the highway but got it up to 70 one time and felt like the wind was going to take the bike. Now I want to commute on the highway and don’t know which one would be more stable.
That was my exact fear with the 650. I had a 250 for 2 months and was dying for something better. Had a 400 for 1 day and was already done with it. Tested a 650 and could tell I would be wanting to sell it after a couple months. So I skipped that step and went straight to a zx6r. Best decision ever.
yes sirrr! ZX6R is a beast. did you trade in your 650? My engine usually reaches around 180-216 degrees on hot days depending on whether im sitting or riding.. It loves constant air flow.. great pickup be safe brother
I would tell any that has a 400 or 650 to flash the ECU before you upgrade to bigger bike. An ECU flash will make a significant change in the bike that will extend your enjoyment on those specific bikes and even when you work your way up to a 600 or liter bike you will still eventually flash the ECU to remove restrictions. Ride safe!
How you like it after a year? Did you have trouble finding one to buy? I'm looking to buy one in a few months but don't see any in stock locally. Only 2 used ones cost almost as much as new MSRP. Wondering how it works to order one.

How is the ZX-6R with comfort? Does it bother you riding it? I am thinking about trading in my 650 for a 6R as a mostly daily commuter for work which is all highway (25mi each way)

Yup that was one of the reasons i switched to the zx6r way better and it comfy as well
Flash the ECU. It will change the throttle response and range on the 650

Just be careful and get insurance quotes before u get it. A zx6r insurance can range from 100-250 dollars a MONTH. in many states

It wasnt bad compared to other 6s the 650 is a little more up right than the zx6r but youll enjoy the 6r even more.

What kind of gas mileage are you getting? I'm between a 650 and the 636 now but I feel like I'll be safer starting on the 650.
