    The crazy part is.. I do this move and don't know I'm doing it half the time. I use it to escape the bottom a lot but, the turn of the hips and knee on belly is new to me. Half the time I just lay there and crank with all power, not anymore. Thanks ZombieproofBJJ for opening my eyes to something new.Thanks a lot!

    I tend to catch our white belts with this and they don't know to drop to their backs and usually tap. I don't work the setup just like you show Kent so I need to do that to see if making sure of the advantage helps it to work on higher belt levels ( also I am opportunistic where you are leading a guy into it ). It is funny to see the look of shock as you tap a guy lying on your back.

    I do something similar. Really liked the part where you clear the neck with the bridge and arm together, will add this. One thing to add is that if the opponent on top is much heavier than you, or even worse much stronger than you, nothing of this will work.

    Awesome!
    Do you make sure you're blocking the opponents hip with the inside arm / elbow right up until you go for that cheese grate movement so he can't shelf your inside arm and get tighter to you ? Or does that matter when you're doing this cheese grate movement?
    Also is this worse case scenario side control when you're opponent cross faces you? Are there preemptive steps you take before your opponent settles into side control that prevent the cross face? Im pretty new and suffer a lot in bottom side and have been trying different things to prevent being cross faced from the start like the prayer position or the MG two hands on the cross facing bicep etc - do you have any specific things you like to do preememtivley ? Thank you !
    Also this cheese grate thing looks super effective in getting that cross face pressure off can't wait to try it when I'm inevitably getting smashed next class lol

    • @ZombieProofBJJ
      @ZombieProofBJJ  7 лет назад +1

      John Smith yeah I'd prefer to not get shelved, and yes I'm willing to die to not get crossfaced lol I usually keep my hand on my forehead waiting for the crossface attempt and comb it away ... being under crossface is brutal lol go for the cheese grater right away 🧀
