For me, Yamaha still makes the best sounding snare drum. There's a crispness to the sound when its tuned just right. Not sure what their formula is but it works. Just a thought.
Honestly, it sounds to me like the camera used to record just doesn't have the onboard audio hardware necessary to properly capture the bass frequencies. I own one of these marching snares with the same batter head and I know how to tune well, but it still doesn't sound like this. These generally have a warmer tone compared to my Mapex Quantum (Remo Blackmax/Falam K) and Dynasty DFX (Evans Hybrid Grey/Evans MX5). If you want ultra crisp you need to crank heads to higher pitch, make sure the snare guts are equal tension/pitch, and definitely don't apply tape to the guts (let them be free).
