I remember when Nothing Shocking came out and your right there really wasn't anything like this at the time. It was a mix of hard rock, punk , funk, surfer rock . I didn't like their later work as much but Nothing Shocking is still one of my favorite albums.
Mt Baldy is the mountain behind LA that actually gets snow capped during rainy years. It's a beautiful sight on the 2 days a year the air is clean enough to see it. Popular event is to drive up to the snow areas, pack your hood up with a bunch of snow and drive back down in a display of pure southern california silliness.
More like of the 80s!!! The majority of their career took place in the 80s.They were the first 90s band; in 1987...! 91 was the end of the line. By the end of the year they'd broken up....but I get your point.
Except, Iggy could actually sing! Janes Addiction had great instrumentalists, and could've been an even better band if they had swapped Perry for practically anyone else.
I grew up in nearby Pomona. My buddies and I rode our dirt bikes up Baldy...no water...no plan...just young and stupid. Was more fun coming down than going up...
I was there too. Perkins signed and gave me a pair of his sticks. I stood about three feet from him most of the show. I'm a drummer and he's one of my favorites. Some of his grooves have influenced my playing.
How could you have seen them "a few years later"?? They broke up after Lolla in 1991 and didn't play again until 1997. "A few years" is not 7 years, lol.
Imagine during this time when Seattle sound was raging but somewhere in California there was another awesome sound happening that was not Sunset Strip.
Does anybody else have any more information about this concert? Like, was this a festival? And what other bands played on it? Because this looks incredible!
It was a special one off show with invite only (plus a friend) type thing. The show was booked here to get footage for the Stop music video. This place never hosted concerts like this and was at a lodge at Mt Baldy.

Any time I went to see local bands in D.C. or at a party.. if I started talking with a band member - it always turned out to be the drummer. I dated 3 drummers. 2 I already knew were drummers from seeing the band 1st, then meeting them. One, a friend who I knew was a drummer & then went & saw his band. Then I started dating him...IMO- drummers are the more down to earth- feet on the ground kinda guys. It's just been the experience I've had.

Hahaha precisely
There were a few others, i honestly dont even know if they were even playing that song in any of the footage from the music video

Digging through the videos and struck gold on this one . I was 20 when this was recorded.
That Navarro fill at 3:39 is absolutely killer
fuck yeah, Navarro is a fucking guitar machine
Indeed , very tasty
He's up there with Hendrix I think.
That was some muscle right there..
Yeah, and seriously no two versions of this song or pretty much any Janes song is ever performed exactly the same way.
Was there...everyone very dosed on LSD. Great show. Memories for sure.
Cheers

Great tone and playing from the whole band. Wild and unpredictable. Wish they would have stayed this way.

The moment grunge ACTUALLY started.
Pure Janes Addiction, Dope, drugs, insanity and chaos intact.
Happy 32th birthday to the best show ever!!! Much love to y’all from Austria ❤️🤘
Interesting how important each member is. Navarro is unreal, a youngster in 1989 but amazing chops even then.
wicked!!!!! used to go and see them at SCREAM wish there was footage of those shows

I saw them in May 1990, December 1990, and July 91. Each time was so epic. They were gods to me growing up.
Legend I cannot believe that he's able to pull those high notes
They where been a concept...an actitud berry well known now in rock history
This is beyond cool. Lucky audience.
Why I haven´t seen this before. It´s awesome. Thanks for share!

It's obvious this was when Perry was really into weight lifting.
they all were :)
I don't know...I think he looks pretty normal. Maybe by weight lifting, you meant speed balls.
@@dcrea9416 Yeah, I highly doubt they were weightlifting.

Dave Navarro's guitar tone is crazy good at this show

All those people are in their 50s and 60s now. I wonder what they're all up to? What they remember of this show?
Amazing - is this someone s backyard party?
