    As someone who has bought and sold vintage linens for years, let me say, don't let a stain on a tablecloth scare you away. A simple soak in hot water with OxiClean will usually do the trick. If you don't want to bother with that, simply list the item and disclose the stain with a photo. Collectors know how to clean antique and vintage linens and will purchase them with stains and yellow aging. It's better to keep the tablecloth and napkins together as a set then to separate them over a stain. Hint: the white fine linens with lace bring in the most money. I watched you pick up a bundle of fine linens in one of your videos (at a rummage sale) and set them aside. I knew you didn't realize what you had at the time.

    • @NestingHaven
      @NestingHaven  4 года назад +1

      Yes, I was considering listing with the stain if I didn’t get it out. I have a lot of vintage linens I got from a yard sale a while back and sometimes if I just got a bunch of something I won’t buy it again for awhile. But sounds like I should always pick up the white lace ones. Thanks!

      Lynnette Pham , I found a blue bowed bunny cross stitched bread napkin. It was very stained. Oxyclean didn’t work, so used bleach right on the stain. Voila, it’s like new. Very glad for that. It was made back in the day..

    9:35 That's not a chip, it's an extrusion if it pokes out at the mold edge. It's caused by a mold not lining up together prior to the glass being put in, causing the glass to push out of the mold. It's seen in older pieces or ill fitting molds.

    The cutting board can be sanded and then resealed with Tung oil, or any food safe oil. If you are concerned about bacteria use salt and rub with a lemon.

      Antique stores are carefully curated by 100 different vendors who display their more valuable found items in booths. Thrift stores you have to sift through a bunch of random stuff people didn’t want anymore to find the diamond in the rough.

    I love the channel, but not a fan of reselling thrift store clothing, shoes, handbags, or baby items. I feel like those are donated so that people who can't afford those nice essentials in stores can still have them at an affordable price gently used. If you buy for yourself, no worries, just not for resell please. It's a charity store and essentials should not be exploited. Just my opinion. As for the luxury items, they make the money used for financial aid, so shop away!

    • @NestingHaven
      @NestingHaven  4 года назад +11

      If you could only see the clothing available in my gw stores. Sadly most of it ends up in the landfill, when they rotate it. I don’t think buying a shirt or dress here and there, to resell is taking away from anyone. I do purchase thrifted clothing for myself and family as well, and selling a few pieces helps pay for the ones I purchase. It’s a smart way to stretch your money even further.

    • @marlavishny18
      @marlavishny18 4 года назад +8

      I would like to politely disagree with the writer. Thrift and charity stores sell donated items, they make a profit because they do not pay for the items. . Does it matter what happens to the item after. If the purchaser decides to sell the item, they already invested money. To resell, it is a gamble and time consuming. Now comes the fun part of researching, cleaning and posting the item. If it sells, it’s packaging and shipping. Nothing is free, shipping costs as well as the site taking its percentage. Whatever sits and doesn’t sell most likely gets donated to be sold again. It keeps stuff out of the landfills. My issue is with some of the larger thrift stores. They often charge close to retail.

    • @teresaweaver1012
      @teresaweaver1012 4 года назад +4

      @@marlavishny18 You've both made excellent points. It's only the aforementioned items I'm talking about. There were many times I couldn't afford name brand/quality clothing and shoes for my family, so I thrift shopped. Nothing pleased me more than to bring home a nice piece for my kids. I remember having to almost brawl with the resellers to get them. They always had money to hang out and follow around as shelves were stocked. It put a bad taste if you can understand that. Taking the vintage items like she did here really isn't a big deal to me either. This is the first time I've even noticed this girl doing it, and at such a small volume, I don't have an issue with it. What I foresee, given that everybody wants to be a reseller now because of these awesome vids, is an influx into the charity stores of the very scenarios of greed I've seen before, and that was before the internet days of eBay and Etsy. Then there will nothing for the intended. There is a conversation on responsible reselling to be had IMO. If only you could count on everybody to do things in moderation and sensibility...if only lol. In hindsight, compared to some of the other resellers, this prob wasn't the most appropriate one to make my point.
