    Casey, My wife is pretty disappointed in me after watching this. She asked what I had for survival in my Jeep. Apparently breath mints and a half bottle of water wasn’t good enough. Great show. Keep up the great shows.

      @nmelkhunter1 4 года назад

      You actually had more than meets the eye. The cushions in your seats can be used for insulation, the battery and cables could be used to start a fire, the Jeep itself is a shelter, etc. It’s important to be prepared, but creativity is by far more important.

    • @terryras01
      @terryras01 4 года назад

      nmelkhunter1 True! And Casey showed us how to start a fire with his whole Jeep! I actually do have a bit more gear in the Jeep, but on the food side it’s slim. Nowhere near what Casey has. Thanks for the comments!

    Terrific! Loving the videos. I have always had tubs of gear on shelves in my garage ready for a camping trip or a bug out. With all of the time under quarantine I started organizing it all. It is a daunting task and I am easily confused with extra gear and items. Living out of a Jeep and a tent space is a premium and I cannot afford to forget something. You have provided a great framework for me. Thanks.

      3 meals a day is camping....not survival. Prep your meals for survival not parties. :)
      Remember 1 pound of stored body fat is one meal :)
      Coyote easily has 30 days in this video. Don't plan snacks and treats just pack them. Plan for one real food meal a day. Fake food will starve you out.

    Great video. There should be more "in the field" video's on what works, what doesn't. Took me about 4 years of boy scout camping to learn what worked and what was fluff which cut my load down a lot. I keep boxes of freeze dried food w/water in boxes marked as 1st Out. So there's no question for the wife or older kids what gets loaded if I call and tell them to load up. I have "extras" tagged in order. Boxes with a 1 and 2 and some 3's (nice to have but not needed). I would consider tossing in a couple of MRE's (not the TOTM meals but combat MRE's) as a "if all else fails". At least they give you a little head start and some breathing room when things go sideways. Thanks for taking the time to make this video. Be well.

      @@CoyoteWorks01 as I headed home from a few days out around Riverside, OR., I saw Jason from Primal broke down on the Santiam Pass. I stopped just on the outside chance I could help, but something electronic died on the van so there's no fixing that on the roadside. He got towed and his friend Matt came and got the trailer. Anyway, had a great few days out. I'll see you out there one of these days!

    In a actual crisis situation you always have the option for maintaining proper hygiene w/ what we refer to as lizard training .. That is removing your clothing and laying out in the sun to let the suns UV light kill the bacteria built up on your body w/ the addition of getting some vitamin D from the sun .. I also weave my paracord into a ranger donut which keeps it from getting tangled up and is easily clipped onto my pack w/ the added ability of being able to knock some dirtbags lips off w/ it if needed .. Great video Casey ..

    Excellent points you made throughout the video. During basic training we entered into a survival training phase which was one of my favorites. The first thing the instructor said sticks with me to this day. He asked: "When does survival training start"? The answer was "Now". Meaning, take care of yourself. Made your dental appointments and yearly physicals. Keep in shape and always have an "option". In fact, I named my Jeep "Options". I enjoyed this video series so far. Keep going please, I always learn something.

    If your bug out sites are secure from others, you should plant wild gardens there for an emergency food source. IE: beans, potatoes, tomatoes and others you could leave unattended. True, they may not produce as well as an attended garden, but it would provide some emergency food. Just a thought...

    Casey. Great series and I'm looking forward to #3. While I live in SD and not in a rural area, I have done a lot of camping and backpacking over the years and have accumulated a decent set up for a bug out scenario. I am a health care worker (physical therapist), so I am still working. My wife and youngest daughter are at the house now, but I have 2 older kids who live in Portand. I was actually supposed to fly up and see them in mid March, just to check in and take them to Cost Co, but COVID19 scuttled that trip. Right when we got the "stay at home" order in SD, I had a few days off and did exactly what you recommended. I did an inventory orf what I have and went through and organized everything in packs for bug out, power outage, home defense etc. Realizing that I have a good amount of important stuff (generators, tents/shelter, food, stoves, medical, protection etc) took down my anxiety level a few notches. I know I could be more prepared, but compared to the average city dweller, I'm doing pretty well! We still have the ability to go to the store and order stuff on Amazon, so I was able to check some boxes after my inventory and that helps me sleep at night! Thanks for the thoughtful insight in the bug out scenario. I'm taking some good notes and sketching out what it would look like if I had to drive up to help my kids in Portland and what I would bring. Planning of any kind helps you stay calm and more focused and like you said, doing the planning and recon when you are not under duress or a time table is a big asset. Thanks so much for the very helpful and unbiased info!

    Hey Casey! Looks good and the only comment I have is, I would pack more in align with how we eat normally everyday. This is how our pantry is stocked and how I plan my normal week's worth of breakfast/lunches. I'd start with oatmeal/walnuts/protein powder in the mornings, peanut butter crackers/Cliff bars mid-day, tuna packets/triscuits for lunch, soups for dinner, and a couple cans of V-8 juice throughout the day to round out the nutritional needs. Jars of peanut butter would be good to have, cans of refried beans with tortillas would also be nice, and don't forget the bag of potatoes or boxes of rice. I know I would be bringing cans (extra weight) and my plan would only work for 10-14 days in my Silverado, but, for us, we're hovering 50 years old (I'm plus, she's minus) and I'm not sure what an immediate switch to freeze-dried food everyday would do to us! ;) Anyway, good stuff, and I'd also add to remind people to think of any Rx medications they may need to bring along. I'm looking forward to Part 3, where it looks like you talk about gear to bring along. I could upgrade in that department. Keep living well and hope everyone is managing through all of this. Take care, my friend. Pete - KI7LIL

    doing search and rescue, hygiene there are many "bath towels" some are like paper towels small and large they work but pretty minimal. there are also a more cloth like products there are small and large versions of these. the small could be used for a more common hygiene duty and the large would be for the full service.
    we were searching in a burned out area so ash and burned wood every where and people being able to get cleaned up at night before they crawled into there sleeping bags was a little piece of heaven.

    Like your vids. The only problem I have with obvious Bug-Out Vehicles (BOVs) is that BEFORE you can bug out, punks and thugs will target you and your vehicle before you can bug out. You have a lot of stuff in your jeep. Unless you have 24 hr security it will be a target often times before YOU can get to it.

    Great job having several BOL to get to. Your food supply is Plenty at 3 weeks because during that period you will be setting up traps to catch small animals and gathering edibles, and maybe even catching some fish! Your food cooking fuel is Plenty because you can make fires. Dakota fire pits may worth discussing as a way to treat water and cook food in a stealthier way.

    A sawyer water filter screws on top of the smart water bottle and would give you crystal clear water and it is a quicker method to purify the stream water.

    Recommend a VFH/UFH/FM combo unit, with a backpack solar panel to charge it up along with your phone. Sure would be a quiet month without it.

      I have the solar charging station in that light. But I am interested in adding one of those radios. I can catch a little bit here and there on my Ham. I just put it on scan and see what I can pick up. I also have an AM solar charging radios but somehow it’s ended up getting moved out of my load-out. I use to like to listen to the late night conspiracy theorist talk radio shows. Cheers!

    Did you do a video on those containers that you store your food and gear. I've been looking for good quality containers. Thanks... keep them coming
