Regarding the Compresssion/De-esss knob - I think you might have it wrong. It is my understanding (from the manual) that the two effects are coupled. Turning it all the way clockwise sets Compression AND de-ess to maximum. Turning it all the way counter-clockwise sets both effects to minimum. You said that it was either / or depending on which way you turn the knob.
I wonder if this guy realizes that when the light goes RED, it means his gain is too high... you don't just turn the gain all the way up... you turn it up so that you always stay in the green and maybe slightly yellow on the loud parts.
I have listened to this video with a number of headphones and each time your vocal hits the t1 there is a underlying click, is this something to do with the RUclips compression our is it a issue the tc T1 suffers with
Great review. I went right out and bought the T1. It really does make your sound pop. Simple yet effective compression and eq. I have owned and struggled with the VoiceTone Create since it came out - these single pedals are a vast improvement!
I watched this video hoping to hear the difference between an auto tuned voice singing and one that was not. How else could I make a buying decision on a correction pedal? Unfortunately this review fails to demonstrate it at all. What a waste of my time.
@@geekanoids Well, I have three of them and use they frequently, sometimes as the perfect microphone preamp, sometimes to get the care free microphone sound. It's cheaper than one Bose Tonematch
Thank you for the video, great job! I just got a T1 and strangely noticed that my shure sm 58 actually sounds a bit better than the supercardiod beta 87A. Do you have any opinion on this? Did you compare a dynamic mic with a condenser using this pedal?
get good level on your pedal but adjust the level on your interface. You have plenty of headroom, so there is never going to be a scenario where you will have that pedal gain all the way up. That is why you hear that annoying click and distortion throughout the entire video.
Hi my name is Saul Cantu. I love the pedal but have notg been able to use it to perform. It makes to much humming. Itr come out through my system and it's very annoying. I call musicians friend and they solod me a power supply from Limewire. .is there a power supply especially for these pedals. I have 2. Please help.
I agree that there's too much talking on this review, and not enough sound of the product, but on the other hand, this is pretty damn thorough! So 10/10 as a detailed review but only 5/10 in terms of what a review like this should be - the sound. But thank you.
Oh buddy... good video but ch on the key assign does not mean "channel" it means "chromatic" or no key or open key assign. Sighhh and as for Cher the lyrics are not "Do you believe in love after love..." they are "Do you believe in life after love..." But all is all good video. Thank you.
i appreciate the work you do by shooting this vid but obviously you know nothing about effects and stuff. shape is a dynamic shape control which is basically a multiband compressor that tries to even out the frequency range you're singing at, compressor/de-esser knob does not work the way you describe. the knob controls the amount of audio that will go through compressor AND de-esser. and the CH setting on C-1 is not "channel", it's "chromatic", which corrects your singing in a range of 12 notes, not a specific key.
Hi there. Great video!!!!! Im wondering if u can answer a question I have. Can I connect a Tc-helicon T1 with a Tc-helicon Create Xt? Is it good to connect those bouth pedals? I already have a Tc-helicon T1 and I'm looking for more effects.
Im sorry. you appear to not know what you are talking about. With the T1 you said the shape control was to get rid of noise. It doesnt. Its a multi band eq. You also said the de-ess gets rid of noise. Thats completely wrong. It reduces sibilance in a specific frequency range 6-8 khz. Just look on the TC website.
I got one, and it's handy if you like to vary between soft singing and screaming. Most digital mixers have compressors built in, but if like me you play/sing at open mic nights where you're sometimes just plugged into a cheap 4channel PA system, it's going to stop you blowing the speakers apart when you hit "WHERE THE LIGHTS OUT, IT'S LETS DANGEROUS". I love singing through compressors cos I'm free to scream my head off, knowing I'm not going to distort the mic and piss off the crowd.
***** hello, yes, you can use this with condenser mics. Be aware that the pedals only offer 24v of phantom power. Why? I do not know. I use a phantom power supply by Sterling which is 40 bucks. I put it 1st before any of the voicetone pedals. (it does not matter that the pedals produce phantom and cannot be turned off, it will not effect anything by adding an actual correct phantom power source. I checked with TC helicon). Now I am able to use my 700 dollar shure ksm9 with the pedals and not have it starved for power. Not all mics will complain about inadequate power, and you will not harm a condenser from under-powering it, but it seems like this mic likes to have 48v. Also here is a tip. I have 4 voicetone pedals and a mic mechanic, be sure not to have the mic control button depressed by accident or your unit will engage and disengage the effect continuously as you perform. I thought something was wrong with one of my pedals until i noticed the small button on the side pushed in on my T1. prob solved. Hope this helps.
They have always phantom power and input/output are balanced. Could it be, that something is wrong with the input? Or with the AC DC adaptor? I have 3 T1 and could exclude the adaptor as reason
@@robfriedrich2822 Thanks but the problem was arose due to one of my 2 connected cables had a 1/4" (unbalanced) input and this was the cause of the interference. Now I really like the T1 its subtle but nice
In future, review the pedal please. Let us hear it, just mess with it. I came to hear the pedal. If you really want, maybe give a little bit of info at the end.
It's different. Beside compression it has also an automatic equalizer. The Behringer Composer is only noise gate, compressor and limiter, not a feedback killer. Behringer Shark is comparable, but it has disadvantages, as it is hard to set, there is no way to change the sound, when all notch filter are used, it sounds anything but natural
haha the C1 looks awesome..but what about if your on stage and you were messing around between songs...you want to do the random effects, the user will have to bend down alot to turn it on and off?the reviewers voice still sounds like fullhard tuning :P great review!
i have both of those pedals going into a powered speaker. they damn make u sound alot dam better. its just like putting reverb and a little delay and little compression on a guitar. makes ur voice a little wet and like your singing in the shower ambience. definitley worth it if any1 is looking. the c1 by itself gives u a wet roomy sound even all the way down. the t1 gives little more clarity in understanding the words u sing and a kittke better tone. the c1 by itself is really all i need but the t1 is a kittle binus but some stuff sounds better with it off.
I didn't realise these pedals were over 10 years old! I only discovered them in early 2021
🤓👍🏻

What's that clicking noise when you turn everything up, betwee 9:00 and 10:30?
Sorry I no longer have this to check, most likely the power supply.
What is that annoying click in the back ground every time you sing or talk loud? Is that the pedal making that noise?
No. His audio recorder is just clipping due to too high gain level.
Compared to what a straight up compressor cost, this thing is PURE gold. I guess that's why they went with the colour scheme
🤓👍🏻
The T1 helped me. It enhanced LD-SYSTEMS Maui 5's micro input, it made also sound Bose L1 compact's Micro input better
:D

mic control? for what?
Thanks for the video

QUESTION: Are these pedals hard wired for 440khz tuning?
Or could they be used with 432khz tuning?

Sorry this was a guest review. I did not personally use it.
Trying to find a review of these where they don't turn the tuning knob all the way to hear a more natural pitch correction. Anyone seen one?
Thanks for watching. Sorry I am not aware of another video showing this. I no longer have these.
I assume the intrusive popping that is most noticeable at 5.48 is not the pedal but a noise gate on you recording device,

So which TC Helicon product is the best if you want to include all of these individual in one box/pedal?
Sorry I no longer have this to check.
I would love to know if this pedal is still decent for 2024. Hard to find info on similar pedals!
Sorry it was a colleague who reviewed these and we no longer have them. Solid brand though so should be good.
Does it the C1 guitar-in key finding work if you're singing harmony parts?

Can you use it to record into logic, how would it sync the auto-tune to the track?

Is there a special mic cable that I should use with a TC Helicon pedal?

It’s an xlr in and out but you can also plug in a guitar or keyboard simultaneously through the 1/4 in input and out
Just fuckin try the goddamn pedal!!!!!!!

You could run it off a battery pack
@@tellygoodnow thanx will do some research.

This review was produced by one of our media partners, so I do not know this.
Use the relative tone
C=am
the clicking in the audio was annoying and i wasn't sure if it was the pedal or your mic etc. but thanks for the review!

ola amigo e quanto o pedal voice tone?
CH is for chromatic...is you would have tested the c1 on on that setting the autotune would sound better..
could you use two or more, or even all the pedals at the same time if you wanted too??
Yes, of course.
So... what about phantom power? Can you us this with condenser mics?
The C1 has phantom power. I dont know about the other one, but i guess it has, too.
I figured out the T1 does and there is no way to turn it off.. Deal breaker for me :( It totally means you can't use ribbon mics.
***** For the C1 it says, that it turns the phantom power automatically on, if needed.
TBH the T1 was the only one that ever interested me, I wanted to use it for my studio.
