I love your vids mehn keep doing your thing.. I am going to send you a picture of the setup for the shift link in my buddy's cabover knuckle boom truck.
Well all I can say is I really appreciate you bringing back the older trucks They have so much history and they kept the word turning hauling our everyday needs And you sure have the passion for it I would love to rebuild one someday And your wife must be an angel and see your passion for this Spending countless hours working on them Keep the videos coming I always look forward to watching them Thank you for all your efforts in keeping the history from trucking rolling
For those of us who drove cabovers back in the day; we couldn't wait to get OUT of them!! It's great to see someone so excited to drive one. Kind of like when we got to drive our first one. Looking forward to seeing the progress on this project. Good luck.
Come to think of how rare these things are becoming now, I can't imagine the struggle of finding spare parts for these, especially to that extent of fully restoring these. Big $$
@@sdudley11 yah that's what I thought, it's the same with some cars and specific brands, when meanwhile some cars you could buy all new parts for a 1970. For sure I would never be arsed to renovate a cab over, but hats of for people that have the patience and wallet.
lol. They do ride rough. I had the chance to go with my Uncle in the early 80’s. He drove a Kenworth cab over. I remember the passenger seat was fixed. The drivers seat was air ride. I survived by switching cheeks. Lol. Great memories with my Uncle.
Oh, man. So lot a hard work. About gear shifter - i think all part on board. When you play stick left or right at the time rear end rotate shaft of gearbox clockwise or counterclockwise. Greeting from Russia.
Walkin right on up to 100k subs! I believe I was number 26 when I subbed for Little by Little. 😊 I can’t to look back in a year from now and see all the growth you’ve made! Mike Stone-Pittsburgh PA
I have never worked on a KW but on a Pete tiltin' hilton, the shifter u-joint hooks onto the shaft that you pointed to. Back and forward is like shifting from 1st to 2nd. when going to 3rd that shaft on the top of the trans rotates the fork inside the trans to get the next shaft in the trans. So, all the parts you need are there from what I can tell.
I have fond memories of this one. I was 14 years old. Went with my Dad on a trip when he was working for monfort of coloback in 75 they still wore the badge of the passing lane being the monfort Lane. Glad your fixing this one!
I love your passion. You have infectious positivity and great sense of humor and such a great appreciation for the trucks that mean so much to you. Awesome. This will be a great build.
Dear M.P. 👍👌👏 LOL, somebody is pretty excited! Congrats for the new purchase and especially for having such a wife! Merry Christmas, happy holidays and a happy new year to you, your families, friends, relatives and, last but not least, your animals. Thanks a lot for all your great videos/work. Best regards, luck and health from CasBear
The left right on the stick makes a rotational motion back at the trans connection. That shaft sticking out of the trans goes straight in and then has a tang on the bottom that rotates to select the respective shift fork. Take it apart you'll see it once you get it apart its hard for me to explain on here.
Beat me to it. But yes, this is the answer. You can even see that the connection on the trans is rotated differently than the stick is sitting currently.
Yes that's correct. It's the same as the 15 speed road ranger gearbox in a International cab over that we have sitting in a field outside . The linkage shaft rotates and slides to select the gears from what I remember
My second cousin after he got out of the army way back in the early 60's got a grain truck and a couple years later bought his first semi was a fleet star 2000 with a 671 in it. A year or so later he bought a freightliner cab over and I was dying to ride in it. I was maybe 12 and low and behold he was hauling grain to the twin cities and had my uncle bring me two miles to the highway from the farm and I road with him to continental grain company. What a thrill and loved that cab over. Was the days before CB's and all the way up there he was hanging out the window looking at all the truckers coming south. I guess they had hand signals or something to let ones going north if there was any smokies watching for speeders or overloaded trucks. Wish I could live that day over. Last time I went by his company he had 29 tractors and over a 100 trailers hauling from coast to coast.
Hi mate. Have found myself watching this episode again. As far as getting in and out of this and other Cab Overs, never be in a hurry. That's when you end up falling. I used to drive a K100, just like this ole girl, up and down the east coast of Australia. Great tractor, never had any issues with getting in and out and yes, you don't need front brakes. Not if you drive them properly. In fact most times I only used the jakes while on the road. Love what you do. God Bless, John, old Trucker.
That Old Cabover is worth the time to get it to the point of having fun and making money I cut my teeth on Driving Cabover truck's I Now I drive a 359 Pete long nose Twin stick , I enjoy your love and love for the old school trucks I have been driving for 40 years+ it makes me feel good to see someone like you that enjoys the old school trucks and the old school of trucking Keep up the good work and God Bless you and your family.
That truck is awesome!! I absolutely love the old cabovers! My dad had a trucking company and had a bunch of different cabovers. I grew up in a cabover truck. He had one just like that truck and it’s name was Sam! My dad had a International TranStar that he drove it was blue with silver stripes and it’s name was Old Blue. Back in those days everybody named their truck every time I watch the videos of these old cabovers it brings back good memories for me. I love those trucks always will!! Daddy had a few long nose as we used to call them. If u was on the road much you drove a long nose! You didn’t want to live out of a cabover that would be hell! But if cabover trucks is your problem you have a great problem!! God bless and I can’t we to watch this!
I knew it was just a matter of time before you picked up a sweet ol cabover, now the old truck fever is in your blood! After three it’s all downhill. Like bubbles with all his cats!
Brilliant! Christmas treat! Glad you’ve got all that level space.... Only the three trucks? You've Big Trouble in Little China to do yet as well!! The linkage is splined so it goes backwards and forwards but also twists so it'll go in and out and clockwise and anticlockwise.
I drove the same rig back in the early 90’s. My girl was white whit black wheels and bumper. A 3604 Cat with a 13 speed. This was a summer job. My uncle owned a trucking company. The rig only had 500,000 miles on it and was in relatively good condition. Never gave me any trouble. I eventually moved on to a Pet 379. I haven’t driven a truck since 1994, but still remember the noise and smells she made. I loved that K100 even it’s bumpy ride that always made me sick for the first 15 to 30 minutes of any drive.
Can't wait to watch! Something to look forward to for tomorrow and it's my birthday..lol Love that movie almost as much as smokey and the bandit, looking forward to cabover content 👍
Wow, reminds me of my 77 Pete COE I ran back in the mid 90s, hauled steel in NW Indiana. Same single cab with long wheel base, but I had a 350 small cam and an 18 speed, spring suspension.
Can't wait to see the progress u make on project Snowman and eventually The Iron Duke. I wish I could restore an old Cabover WobblyStar in memory of my dad.
This is one project I wish I could help with and drive. I LOVE these K100 Cabovers. They are great trucks, and not the worst riding I have driven. I'd say you got your hands full now. I love the Waylon music too. Great performer! I also wanna thank Mamma for allowing you to do these projects. You know what they say, "Behind every good man is a great woman". I couldn't agree more! I had a feeling you would get this one. You always go for the rough ones. "Wink Wink" Love the Kenworths!
There's a trucking company or a group around Dallas that drive all old Iron around. I've seen a cab over rolling around here and it makes me smile every time
Exactly how it works! Just have to put a bolt through the hole on the universal joint and the trans shaft! Hopefully there isn't too much wear on the internals, or there might not be enough room for side to side movement.
I drove for over 35 years and always drove a cabover with a 10 or 13 speed ! That would make a sweet roll bed with curtains and I do believe your missing parts of your linkage on your shifter rods . Merry Christmas !
Way,way back in 1970 I drove a 1970 KW cabover that looked a lot like this one. It had a 370 Cummins and a 13 speed! At that time it was one of the most powerful engines on the road. With one of the local log truck shops help we squeezed about 425 HP out of the 370. I hauled baled hay out of the Columbia Basin to the Washington western side to the dairies. I ran the mountain passes back and forth everyday for years. The old KW did a great job and never let me down! I sure miss them days.
Yes! Been waiting for the answer. Also loved the Smokey and the Bandit clip at the beginning with your bank account😂. Old Blue, Project Snowman and now Project Iron Duke... Gonna need a driver or two now😂This is gonna be awesome!
Finally got through all the playlists to this sweet little girl. Food for thought for you is maybe change out the diffs to KW air ride because the placement of the suspension would be further ahead of the torsion rod suspension & would put you ahead of the repaired cracks. The torsion suspensions are really pricey to repair if you break a rod because you don't do just one. Another thought would be to shorten the wheelbase but that would mess with the ride. As they stand now your Pete is a Cadillac ride & the COE will be an orange crate on steel wheels. I pushed a cabover from Ontario to BC for 5 yrs. before my first conventional. Love your work saving the old iron. Keep on Truckin.
I bought my "Orwell" (1984 Peterbilt 362) for pretty cheap. Figure 10 tires, 6 wheel ends, about $4K in most all new hoses. Then add brakes and tons of odds and ends. Then 3 months later an engine rebuild ($18K USD). $66k for a good running one isn't crazy.
You are right twinsticks you have one amazing woman, definitely one of a kind. You are a very lucky and blessed man. Merry Christmas and God bless you for saving these relics.
I don't know why this video was recommended to me by RUclips algorithm, but I am glad it was. Your enthusiasm has bought you a new subscriber. Even though I have nothing to do with trucking, I would love to see how this project goes.
Beautiful truck. Just the right length chassis. Don't shorten it. Chassis should be red or black I say. Salem paint job. You can have the turbo reconditioned probably, keep the cost down. The shaft from the gearbox should rotate, the yoke has a missing pinch bolt that fitted into a hole in the shaft to fix it in position. The gearbox could be stuck in gear. Anyway, you're everyone's hero for doing what you're doing, saving these beauties from oblivion, and your wife is a darling for letting you!
Congratulations on Project Iron Duke. Man you sure have some cool old school tractors. However I'd be happy with one. I really really want a Peterbilt 359. Or a Peterbilt 362. You have really good taste when it comes to old school Iron. Can't wait to see Project Iron Duke finished.
The 3 bay garage she got you!!!!!!!!!!where you gonna put project moving on and project convoy and project bj &the bear?????????oh and I forgot the great Smokey road block with Henry Fonda project!!!
What a nice Christmas gift. That person who struck you a good deal on that Iron Duke truck is your Secret Santa!!! Merry Christmas Mr. Twinstick Garage!!
The old K-100's all had a problem of the dash/hump cracking and letting all kinds of road grime up in the cab! I drove one once that you could here the wind whistling in! You could never keep them cool in the summer and warm in the winter! And the road grime was everywhere! Hope "Iron Duke" is solid! You will know when you tear in to it, or grab the dash, and see how much movement it has!
When you first showed us this truck. I was thinking you would get it. I'm glad you did. This is going to be awesome. To bad ut doesn't have duel breathers. I seen a cab over with them on. It look cool.
Twin sticks I think you have a problem... And we're all thankful for it!
Hahahah 😂❤️
BigHartAtack I think you're right...But I agree...I'm enjoying it!!
Hello my name is Twin Sticks and I have a Semi Tractor addiction.
I love your vids mehn keep doing your thing.. I am going to send you a picture of the setup for the shift link in my buddy's cabover knuckle boom truck.
I agree !!! I'm glad he has that problem.
Well all I can say is I really appreciate you bringing back the older trucks
They have so much history and they kept the word turning hauling our everyday needs

I would love to rebuild one someday
And your wife must be an angel and see your passion for this
Spending countless hours working on them
Keep the videos coming
I always look forward to watching them
Thank you for all your efforts in keeping the history from trucking rolling

Learned to drive 16 yrs ago in a 78 K100. Really gonna be looking forward to this, Twinsticks. Enjoy.
New twin stick garage! You better put in 4 doors! Tell the wife we the viewers don’t like odd numbers! Let us know if that works
"You’ve got the one iron duke here, come back". Love that movie. Even calls his son "tanker". True trucker.
The Movie called High Ballin' and it's a great movie.
My favorite cabover. Drove all of them. Was so stoked to get into conventional. Now nostalgic for cabover
Gotta admit those cabovers ride hard, but they do look cool.
Cool to look at ... shit to live in
Merry Christmas to everyone that sees this
Merry Christmas to you as well!
Merry christmas and a new happy year
Merry Christmas to you and family 🙏👍🌲

Man you have the most understanding wife ever, if I brought this much home mine would be burying me in the back yard. Congrats on the newest toy!!
Shame to say I didn’t even know about that movie until you showed a clip of it- went straight out & bought it, so thank you!
Sweet. I drove one in 80s hauling lemons to Long Beach harbor from Ventura.
Greetings from Northern .

Joe Mascioni you are absolutely correct, I've worked on tons of these old KW cabovers, everything is there just appears to be disconnected.
3 doors, build it long and stack them deep!
I have fond memories of this one. I was 14 years old. Went with my Dad on a trip when he was working for monfort of coloback in 75 they still wore the badge of the passing lane being the monfort Lane. Glad your fixing this one!
Monfort ...
Swinging beef out of Colorado ? Those guys owned the left lane 🏆
I love your passion. You have infectious positivity and great sense of humor and such a great appreciation for the trucks that mean so much to you. Awesome. This will be a great build.
Definitely my favourite out of all the American trucks and the perfect Christmas gift for TwinSticks.
24.5 THE ONLY WAY TO ROLL ! MERRY CHRISTMAS MY OLD SCHOOL FELLOW TRAVELER.
I love the look of the classic visor on this truck.
Dear M.P.
👍👌👏 LOL, somebody is pretty excited! Congrats for the new purchase and especially for having such a wife!

Yes shaft in trans spins, shifter has a kind of bell crank that rotates to change directions further up on the linkage
Congratulations on your new Pandora's box!! Lose a bunch of them front leaf springs & put some 'bags under that puppy....it's chiropractor approved !!
Wow....Hantivirus city! Now that is what I call a project!!!!!
I love that movie. High balling Jerry Reed good luck

Nice combination Kenworth cabover and the Peterbilt which is awesome built!!!💪💪💪
That’s awesome! I’m restoring a freightliner cab over, I’ve got a lot of work ahead of me no rear ends, engine, trans just a cab
Little by little you will get there congratulations
Marc, you have to borrow a trailer and go to collect that using 'Little by Little'. I am stoked for you. What a beauty.
I knew it was just a matter of time before you picked up a sweet ol cabover, now the old truck fever is in your blood! After three it’s all downhill. Like bubbles with all his cats!
So glad to see you save one the old cab overs. They are so rare to see on the road and I actually get excited when I see them. Great job

Awesome project, looks like you've got plenty of saving $$$ to do, good luck
You can polish aluminum with a sand blaster. Using flower instead of sand
Thumbs up before I even watch the video keep up the good work loving it 👍👍
Brilliant! Christmas treat! Glad you’ve got all that level space.... Only the three trucks? You've Big Trouble in Little China to do yet as well!! The linkage is splined so it goes backwards and forwards but also twists so it'll go in and out and clockwise and anticlockwise.
The actual Porkchop Express is in Calais Maine 🙂 i have many photos of it, its still running!
I’ve been waiting to see this!!!! Can’t wait to see progress on this and snowman!! Keep truckin!!😃😃
Every blessing to you and your family this Holiday season. Merry Christmas, my friend!!
Allright ! And that counts 3 ! 😄
I love it !
Looks like it’s time for a pilot hub conversion. Great projects!
I drove the same rig back in the early 90’s. My girl was white whit black wheels and bumper. A 3604 Cat with a 13 speed. This was a summer job. My uncle owned a trucking company. There's a trucking company or a group around Dallas that drive all old Iron around. I've seen a cab over rolling around here and it makes me smile every time
Congratulations sir! I had a feeling this would be in the stable since the “will it start” video. So glad it is.
Nice “little” Christmas gift!!! Merry Christmas. Greetings from Brazil.
The rod in the shifter moves forward and back and twists left to right, hence the universal joint at the end.
That seems like the way it would work. Only way it makes sense in my mind.
I was thinking the same
Exactly how it works!
I've got a mate who has 6 project trucks, you're starting to look like him lol 👍👍
The only cure is to buy more rigs!
Good luck with your epic rebuild. Glad to see people bringing back the old cabover trucks. I drove a 72' K100 Armstrong steering and a short frame.
I've driven three of them. A Peter built a freightliner and international. I loved driving each and every one. And yes you feel every little bump.
My dad nicknames Dayton hubs as “Manitoba mags”
The 3 bay garage she got you!!!!!!!!!!where you gonna put project moving on and project convoy and project bj &the bear?????????oh and I forgot the great Smokey road block with Henry Fonda project!!!
What a nice Christmas gift. That person who struck you a good deal on that Iron Duke truck is your Secret Santa!!! Merry Christmas Mr. Twinstick Garage!!

Congratulations!!!, I like Ole Blue and project Snowman but cabovers are in my heart because that's what my dad drove.
Amazing ! Hope you can bring her back to glory again
I’m glad to see that you bought this truck. Love it. Can’t wait to see it restored.
Awesome new project.... just watching all your videos again enjoying a good bottle of Canadian club
I love those little fans above the window to keep the driver cool
The clutch pedal in KW cabovers will give you a workout! I did love the feel of the accelerator and brake pedal though!
When you first showed us this truck. I was thinking you would get it. I'm glad you did. This is going to be awesome. To bad ut doesn't have duel breathers. I seen a cab over with them on. It look cool.
Iam glad you getting it and going to fix it up
