@revseanchan Agree. I'm 59 grew up when Colt was king. Too bad I feel their direction had gone off course. In my opinion the Colt name doesn't hold the same value it used to. Too bad as the single action is legendary.
I bought a Colt Competition Series 70 Stainless in 9mm and one blued in 45ACP, both for $1,100 a piece out the door a couple of months ago. So I suspect that Government Series 70 will be much less than $1500.. also, anyone saying Colt is anything but iconic beautiful and quality can be ignored. Colt is putting out many models of rifles and pistols people want for good prices, but Colt isn’t cheap.
I agree. We have some gun shops in our area that give you a free t-shirt for every gun purchased. Free advertising for them and a cool t-shirt for customers.
01911C is the true “new classic” edition. It’s pretty much the same as the LimEd shown here without the sight and beaver tail upgrades. $800ish and rock solid.
Wow that is like my ideal setup for a 1911 and Colt decided to make it an overpriced limited edition so i will never own it. Thank you. Smart decision.
You mean Colt finally decided that they should offer some features on their 1911’s? Ya know… like everyone else has been doing for years. Always chapped me that they want $1500 for what is basically a GI spec gun with the basic hammer, safety, and beaver tail. That limited series looks pretty nice and is seemingly priced competitively. Hopefully under CZ’s ownership they’ll get straightened out. Alway seemed to me like they were a rip off.
@@ayychrissy1749 Not around me it doesn’t lol. Used ones in my local gun shops go for over $1400 all day. Absolutely ridiculous. Love the username and picture lol.
@@ayychrissy1749 That’s NY for ya tho. They would prefer us to all be unarmed and happy about it. No problem. Gotta rewatch soon. It’s been a couple of years since I watched it.
I love colt but that’s ridiculous. Can get Tisa gi models for 400 bucks . Even if you put 400 more into it for sights , mags and trigger job it wouldn’t even be half of the colt with tax . 1600 for a base gi is nuts , and I love colt
Introducing a 1970 design with 2023 pricing, the worst of both worlds - a $1500 Colt without so much as an ambi safety, night sights, or polished blue finish.
Realistically they sell between $1,000-$1,300. Gunbroker. Also, an ambi safety isn’t necessarily an upgrade. I personally can’t stand them. Colts are over priced for what they are but I’ll take a Colt 1911 over a Tisas or Rock Island any day.
@@jpduder13 If you were left-handed you would not make such a claim. Also, when operating in a tactical environment where you must aim around the left side of a wall it is safer to switch to your left you to avoid undue exposure of your vital areas. In both case and ambidextrous thumb safety is quite beneficial. Why do you prefer the Colt to the Tisas and RI?
@@Paladin1873 fair enough but as a right handed shooter, I just don’t care for it. I’m not in the military or law enforcement and I’m not really encountering too many tactical situations but if I were to, I think I’d probably be carrying one of my Glocks. I prefer the fit and finish of Colts to several 1911 manufacturers. Rock island is ok but their sight cut is proprietary and I feel they don’t do much deburring. The one I owned had sharp edges all over the frame and slide. As far as Tisas goes, it’s fine but I feel it’s a bit of the same. Fit and finish and deburring aren’t the greatest. Everyone has different preferences I guess. If someone can get a $300 pistol to shoot reliably and they are comfortable with it, kudos. I don’t think you have to spend $3k to have a decent pistol, but I do think there is a major quality difference between say a Colt and a Taurus. I guess it’s all what people find valuable to them… I shoot 1911s for fun. I carry Glocks for protection. No particular reason other than that’s what I’m comfortable with.
@@jpduder13 I share much of your reasoning. I am basing my comments on being a southpaw and having been trained a long time ago to use a highly modified 1911 in the Air Force as a duty weapon. For fun, recreation, and home defense these options are not nearly so important. I too use a Glock most of the time because of the mostly passive safeties, though I do not like the feel of their pistols. This is very much a subjective issue, but after about a minute I find them uncomfortable to hold. I don't have this issue with a 1911, P35, or many revolvers. Heck, the Luger is a delight in the hand, but otherwise poorly designed ergonomically.
Mind blowing to me that Colt will finally make a 1911 in the style people want... and proceed to make it a $1500 limited edition gun.
Colt has been subpar for a while, not sure why people remain so obsessed.

Let's see if CZ can straighten out Colt or if Colt will bring down CZ like Studebaker brought down Packard.

I have an original Series 70 with the collet bushing. Very accurate.
Hats should be given free with orders over a certain amount since we're just advertising for you!!

I want that colt!
All these pistols look practical and interesting very nice
Good to see you back Paul.

I absolutely love my sick P3 65 micro x I have the one with the compensator it is my every day carry one of my favorite firearms
Oh hell yes. Missed you Paul. Happy you are back.
Hats, t shirts, stickers, and such should be thrown in free with orders over $50-$100 or to return customers after a handful of orders.
Agreed. They are stingy with giving out any kind of swag. I am reluctant to order from them. Shame.
A Brownells range hat without the knob on top would be nice, like the Magpull one.
Very nice
Haha, that trucker cap in the end!
Very cool 🇺🇸
You forgot to tell about the extended beaver tail on the Colt

Colt just needs to put the WW2 scroll mark on their lower tier 1911’s

Why won't you make a 1:14 twist rate 20" AR15 rifle barrel?..

The Colt Classic (GI spec one) has always MSRPd for around 900 which is reasonably close to other quality entry level 1911s.
