Checkering had nothing to do with technology back then as they checkered hammers and slide releases all the time. It’s a cost saving measure since it was a govt contract. It also wasn’t a “tactical” thing to do back then since people could just shoot fine without any of that stuff.
Where did you hear about Colt finding “original slides?” That’s pretty cool if it’s true. I’m more inclined to believe they may have been left over from the WWII reproduction they released in the early 2000s but either way it’s a beautiful pistol. Have mine on order now.
There is no such thing as a “Dove Tail” on a 1911. It’s called a Beaver Tail. Please if you’re going to speak on a subject you must know that subject and it’s obvious you do not. Ricky from IBM
Not only do you not know what your talking about! You don't know how to handle a 1911 or use proper nomenclature!! If you did you can see that the slide is brand new and the front site is dovetailed and not pinned from underneath!! Same slide used in the national match pistol in the current lineup!!
