    I wonder how easy it is to fix the bezel alignment on these, could it be done by an owner or would it have to go to a watch maker for example?

    I also have this. I do like it. I didn’t notice any QC issues with mine. I did notice its very accurate when your wearing it but runs fast when its sitting dial up. I like Seiko but they need to get the QC under control, especially if they are going to ask these prices.

    This one's been high on my buy list since they came out. Wish they could get the alignment issues worked out though. Thanks for the video👍

      Thanks Bob. If you are ever in the area, feel free to borrow this Willard for a review

      This one is high on my want list as well. I have decided that in order to mitigate the alignment issue I will purchase it from a local AD and not online. I have checked out two separate Willards at both ADs here in Phoenix and the bezel aligned perfectly.

      I would've walked out of my AD with one had the bezel alignment been spot on. Bummer.

      @@krit5339 Yeah I'm not paying $1,000 for a watch that the bezel doesnt align from the factory. Just keep looking brotha!

    Good video! My Willard is on its way to me. Very excited! I picked mine up brand new from an AD for $1040 USD.

    Just got one of these with a 23% price decrease. I was expecting the bezel to be off and like yours it's about half a click off but you don't really notice it. I quite like the bracelet but not the clasp (I've ordered a rubber waffle strap for the classic look). I wish it was anti magnetic. If this watch had a spring drive it would be ideal - the case is great on my 6 & 3/4" wrist.

    Thanks for a very thorough and thoughtful review. I concur with your summation of the Willard, though I kind of like the aluminium bezel insert which will show some kind of aged patina over the years. I’ve got the green version and it goes hand in glove with a nice period rubber strap. I think you “lose” the watch with a stainless bracelet. It’s a joy to wear and gets the most wrist time

  • @ThePlaiibox
    @ThePlaiibox 2 года назад +1

    Have the green version of this watch and its amazing. The bezel is stiff enough to get perfect alignment no probs and cos the champfer causes distortion it's hard to tell at a glance if the alignment is off anyway.

    They took your advice and made an 8L movement version of this watch, with a date complication at the 4 o'clock position - at twice the price point.

    I really like this reissue. Do you think it's worth jumping up to from a regular turtle? Great review as always.

      @EverydayWatchGuy  4 года назад +2

      If you already own a turtle then it might not be worth the jump unless you really want the smaller case and upgraded movement. Cheers

    I know the 6105 Willard is popular, but I don't like the kidney that's attached to the dial.I actually prefer the early version of the 6105 -8000 instead!

    It's expensive but it is worth shopping around. I got mine on the high street for £1000 (£200 off retail) with three years 0% finance. I had the money to buy it but if someone's offering to let me pay it back for about £25 a month with no interest I'll keep the money in my pocket. Mines losing about 10 seconds a day but at some point I likely will take it to a watch maker to get it properly regulated. I've got a 7s26 that's running at +5 so I'm sure this movement can be tuned for better accuracy. I've got the same model as shown here which came on the metal bracelet. The first thing I did was order a period correct black waffle strap and it became uncomfortable and unwearable. Very strange. For me it just does not wear on a strap but is supremely comfortable with the bracelet. I love it and think it was worth every penny.

    Great review... I have been wanting a Seiko "Willard" but every time I get close I remember Seiko's crappy quality control and crappy accuracy of their movements. Too risky for over 1k for me.

      EverydayWatchGuy fair enough...I just meant acknowledging that there are 2 similar re-issues out there and on spec what are the differences...I didn’t even know this variant existed...other than much lower price, what are the differences?

    • @EverydayWatchGuy
      @EverydayWatchGuy  4 года назад

      @@jeffmutter2286 got it. Well you identifed the main difference with the SLA033 having the high beat 8L35 movement. It costs $4k, is limited to 2000 pieces, and has larger dimensions than the Willard does.

    A high beat for $1200 not on your life that's a grand Seiko movement . I'm sure your know that most of the movements that AP , PP , VC use are all 21000 beats movements that's what makes the 4r and 6r movements so reliable an pretty accurate at least the ones I own . Actually Seiko makes this same Willard with a GS movement .. it's $4000 . I kinda get your point but it's kinda Mott . Cause these Seiko reissue are very very popular . And most of those Swiss watches in the same are little more price range are not as popular .

      I've owned so many Seikos, dozens of them - 4Rs, 6Rs, and 8Ls. One thing I can say is that the consistency of timekeeping, positional variance, and adherence to specifications, more notably on the 4Rs and even 6Rs, is wildly inconsistent. The 8Ls are the only Seiko movements that buck this trend, but their performance is usually comparable to their much cheaper Swiss-brand movement competitors like Sellita and ETA, and they cost much more. If you're looking for a watch that will offer you consistency, I'd hate to say it, but Seiko is not a good bang for your buck.

    Lovely looking watch. Pity about the drawbacks: misaligned bezel, inaccurate time keeping, inflated price. My 1985 entry level Omega Geneve auto keeps better time than this brand new iconic Seiko.
