He is a regular dude. I had the very rare opportunity of meeting Jackson in his parents backyard in the early 70's in Southern California. He was playing piano out on the patio 2 or 3 doors down from where I lived. While sitting out on my patio I could hear the piano playing clearly and beautifully, so I walked down the path behind our house and saw Jackson playing. I stood outside the fenced yard looking in and before long he saw me and kind of waved me in. I didn't know who the heck it was but I strolled into the yard walked over and we started talking about the times. I was going to Cal State at the time and Jackson was thinking about going to school. I got to rattling on as I do and I said something stupid like "Hell, everybody is trying to be a musician these days." Jackson then said something very profound, he said something like "I think I'm going to make my money with this band." and I replied "Yea, that's what everybody these days think." Everybody I knew was in a band, playing music and they all thought they were going to make it. Well anyway, much to my surprise - I learned that crow really doesn't taste that bad. In the next few years I got a chance to hear Jackson play around several places in SoCal and Yes he did make it!!

You can count on one hand the number of writers who carried the word and feeling of the time in East LA the way Jackson does. He will always be a true Manolete of the neighborhood, where, unfortunately, few of his ethnic background were welcome. He held he passion, the pain, the joy, and love of the familia, home, and friends throughout his career, at the same time a passionate soldier for others around the world who are not as blessed as we are.

yup... right there with Born to Run! So many parallels between the careers of those 2 men... both around the same age, starting their careers around the same time, released their albums within a year of each othe,r their 3rd albums each's masterpiece. I saw Browne in concert 3 times and Springsteen 4 times, no other artist more than twice. Remember in the fall of '74 seeing Springsteen at Union College Chapel in Schenectady (one holy experience) but despite it being the best concert I'd ever seen part of me was missing the other concert I could have gone to - a Jackson Browne concert in Providence RI. Great poets both with musical personnas that screamed genius. Love both of them . Wish I could have seen them when Bruce opened for Jackson. BTW, Bruce caught up pretty well with pretty women hanging 'round.

Thank you Jackson Browne for your amazing lyrics which have given me perspective on many of life’s issues. My son who is almost 25 will be accompanying me to your upcoming concert in Baltimore as he gave me the tickets for Christmas. He has grown up with your music and I have no doubt that after hearing you live will gain an even more profound love not just of your music but for who you are and how you continue to change the world with your lyrics. My personal favorite is Of Missing Persons. I used a quote from that song in my high school senior yearbook. It has become even more profound as I’ve gotten older. “Does it take a death to learn what a life is worth.” Thank you for all that you have brought to my life. ~B.

I travelled from the east coast in the Appalachian's of West Virginia a very young 19 year old kid trying to chase the dreams I was writing about, many of them inspired by Jackson Browne. Probably the first of Jackson's songs that really inspired me to continue in his footsteps was on "For Everyman," a song Jackson wrote when he was 16 years old at the kitchen table, titled "For Everyman...." a song that was first recorded by other artists, and survived several edits before it emerged finally recorded by Jackson Browne in 1973 on "For Everyman." He stands alone as a composite of ambivalence about maturity, weariness of the race, fear that love may not be enough ... confusion over whether or not a lasting home can be found in a progressively nightmarish world. He also stands alone as someone who, resigned to all that, is still willing to seek out some quiet way of weathering his time's new trials. Brilliantly conceived, incomparably immediate, For Everyman truly earns its title.”

I LOVE Jackson Browne!!! His amazing albums inspired and sustain me to this day! I worked in Los Angeles and lived in the Valley in the 70's I usually never did, but one day I picked up a young man after work, who was thumbing a ride, at a freeway on ramp. He had an arm full of albums and he GAVE ME a copy of "Saturate Before Using"! It was the beginning of my love affair with Jackson Browne's incredible writing. They touched my soul and I was able to lose 20 lbs running in place and around the house to "Running On Empty" over the summer of 1977! I just finished reading the book by Linda Ronstadt, "Simple Dreams" and she credits Jackson Browne over and over and over and over and over for his mastery and gift and was equally inspired even recording some of his songs. As Glen Fry once said, "Jackson Browne has written the songs we WISH we could have written."

In 1966 I was 17 and used to go to The Paradox coffee shop in Orange, CA to see a hypnotist named George Sharp. We'd usually get wasted first and go. The opening act was a kid 16 who had a velvet voice and played guitar the way I wanted to. His name was Jackson Browne. We'd never heard of him, but he was already fantastic. We started going there mainly to hear Jackson, and the hypnotist last. I was in between high school and the draft and we all knew he would make it big. In 73 I picked up his first record and watched him progress as a songwriter and musician to greatness. I still like his first records and everything else, almost.

So cool, Toby, thank you for sharing your experience. In his song, Barricades of Heaven he writes the lyric, "Life became: The Paradox, The Bear, The Rouge et Noir. That stretch of road running to L.A." I'm just a guy in the midwest who was born in 1988, so to me these places are mythical, but you actually lived the history yourself! Cheers, sir!

He has had the same haircut his whole life. Maybe it is the secret of his talent, like Sampson's strength. I can't imagine him any other way. I love this guy. A great talent. One of America's greatest. Frey said when he was writing Doctor My Eyes, they wanted to kill him because he played it continuously for months, sunup to sundown.

My 2 favorite men/music artists on this earth are Jackson Browne and Bruce Springsteen.. the video of Bruce introducing him and Jackson's speech are a wonderful testament to the music of an era gone by.They are artists who wrote and sang from the heart and when they made it big, gave back to society not just fame and fortune!! Hard to find that today.

I’ve lived my life in the wilds of west Texas from which so many great songwriting legends have sprung and where the art is honored and revered. Jackson Browne is not only a true artist and craftsman, he is a bonafide legend and a giant. A genuine and true voice of America and the world. Thank God for his talent and his work for we are all the better for having heard it! Thank you, Mr. Browne for both you incredible music and for the guts to put your music, money and activism to work for humanity.

My most favorite song is about the roadies and his appreciation for all those behind the scene that helped him to succeed! Keep playing, writing and giving us all some peace of mind with your music!

Word"s spoken by the true celestial lyricist. It seems like every song that CJB has written, is the soundtrack of my entire life. Cannot thank him enough for giving me much inspiration to become the musician I am and will be the rest of my life. Over 50 years of true musical genius. Thank you ever so. Come back to St Petersburg and play for us as a solo show. Saw you in Tampa last month 70 minutes is just not enough for me. Lol. But much appreciated. All the best to you and your family during these Holiday's 2021. Stay safe out there and have fun. 🎄🎸🎹🎶💞🙏✌️
