Used to be you'd sit and have lunch with a candidate.....you knew almost instantly if they were right for the job. Now days...it's a whole production. (I get this is staged). But today it's Powerpoint presentations, 6 interviews, cross-functional teams and all sorts of nonsense. Business in the US needs to get back to basic fundamentals. It is really out of control.
Lol the fire alarm actually went off at our place when I was interviewing a candidate, needless to say engaging and chatting with the individual while coming down the fire escape and waiting for the fire truck to arrive did provide an interesting change in scenario 😄
The ,' interview', for my last job--which, BTW--lasted for twelve years 9and I'm not kidding!), consisted of a rather frenzied tour around the place, during which the Director never once let go off my sleeve as I was dragged-along, was to hurriedly mention my degree, my job history, after which brief time, the Director arranged a quick urine analysis (as the lab was closing in fifteen minutes), and to yell at me that I had got the job. Including driving time, altogether about 35 minutes!
This does make me uncomfortable. From the filming, to the voting.... making applying for a job completely one-sided. Employment is a two-way process. If you went into a job interview as a candidate and did all this crap, I doubt they'd accept it. You're not a dog balancing a ball on your nose - you're a candidate. (Also pedantic grammar wise, the sentence beginning "how to" should not end in a question mark, as it's a statement. It'd be "how do you" if it were a question.)
.....but at the same time its a test of character . There was a time that companies just look at what degrees you have undertaken and which University you gained it from. Nowadays major companies has gone past that mindset. One cannot learn key abilities from a book

Employer beying glad for quality people and appriciate them, not employees parading themself to be employed? In the end its employee who is generating money not his employer.
I think that extreme interviews are made for extreme jobs, so I think is really good for the job seekers that this way of interviewing really tests them to prepare them for a tough job
So, you obviously have to have many friends to get the job! I think having people vote for whom a company should hire sucks! I wouldn't like to be in that position! Think about it, to be in a need for a job and to get online to see how many of your "friends" have vote for you...
