He averaged 2 losses a year over his three year career as a starter while playing in the toughest conference with the toughest opponents, a conference championship game (back when those were optional) and big-time bowls. He essentially transferred dominance of CFB from Meyer and UofF to Saban and Bama when he went pro. And he was a Heisman finalist every year as a starter.

People argue about him still but Tebow was the face of college ball from his freshman year on, and he lost sooo few games. In my mind he was one of the most must watch players ever in college for me. @@Starwarman1 He did have an extremely long release and other weird throwing mannerisms but they weren't his main issue IMO, his reads and working thru the progressions was horrible. The guy had unbelievable talent and ability but the fundamental basics of being a QB just weren't there for some reason. A lot of Urban Meyers QB's have had that same problem, unbelievable talent but can't understand the basics. It's kinda like having a kid who is amazing playing a musical instrument but can't read music.

Gator fan here. Because his release was too slow. Every single NFL front seven defender was one of the fastest men on his college team. NFL QBs need a much faster release, ESPECIALLY if they have “run” in the back of their minds all the time. They weren’t trying to change everything about him. They wanted to make his release faster.
