@@goldisgallery2912 In Thailand they start nesting from around the end of March through into July/August. I guess it will be similar there. Good luck in finding a nest next breeding season.
Wow Lovely footage of so many beautiful birds.. love the pink necked Green pigeon, Javan Pond Heron, Golden weaver the most as they are lifer for me.. Love the other birds too.. Thanks for sharing this interesting video my friend.
Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it. Can't wait to get back to Thailand to make some new ones. Have you seen all 3 species? Streaked Weaver is fairly restricted in where it occurs.
Thanks, I try to make each video a little better than the last. It was tricky this time as I shot the footage back in June 2020 when I was making it up as I went along. Fortunately there is lots of habitat for birds like these in Thailand.
So enjoy by following you to visit this beautiful rice fields with number of birds. We used to be in Petchaburi, once but failed for the Spoonbill Sandpiper. Anyway, very good video. Have a great day.
Best one yet, Nick! I really enjoyed this. Of course, having been there on one of your trips, it brought back terrific memories. I like all the background songs, too.
Amazing birds in Thailand and great narration as always. You should defiantly get a job in some major documentary film production studio as a narrator, ha-ha.
Haha, thanks, nice to know that someone appreciates it. Thailand really is a superb country for birds, all birders should put it on their list of places to go.

Hey Nick! This is an amazing video, I love every bit of it. All of the wetland birds are so fascinating and look so interesting. I really like the look of the Javan Pond Heron and the Asian Openbill looks super prehistoric. Keep up the National Geographic vibe, you do it so well and you are so professional!! :)
Thanks for those kind comments. I filmed the footage ages ago before I knew what I was doing but put quite a bit of thought into the editing to try and make it an improvement on previous videos so it is nice to know someone appreciates that effort. Indeed, the Openbill is one of those prehistoric birds.
@@BirdingwithNick Oh I see, that makes a lot of sense! The editing is amazing might I add, I find it so hard to transition from once scene to the other without a fade but you do jump cuts perfectly. Your effort is definitely noted my friend, thank you for sharing :)
There is very little hunting of wild birds in Thailand. In the past persecution would have been more but these days the affluence of Thailand is such that killing birds for food is not something many people do. Fishing is very widespread but eating birds is not. Yes, there are still people who are not wealthy and a few probably hunt birds but it really is not widespread at all and the amount of time it would take to find eggs to eat can be used doing something far more productive. There is also the cultural aspect of Buddhism that means that most people do not want to kill things if not needed. That doesn't mean that all Thais are perfect Buddhists, they certainly are not, but there is that deep-seated belief that respect for life means all life and when you see birds being killed by youngsters for fun in other Southeast Asian countries you can see there is a real difference in Thailand. Rice field birds do get trapped and killed by farmers who put up mist nets to stop their rice crop being eaten or fish pond keepers who put up nets/hooks to protect their fish. Fortunately even this is not universal although I run into it all too often. Habitat destruction by development/conversion to shrimp farms is a far bigger menace to birds in Thailand than hunting.
Beautiful bird, nice video, thanks for posting the clip. Have a wonderful day!

The most extraordinary thing is how little the birds seem affected by people. What is the cultural take on consuming birds/eggs?

You back??
Nope. The clue to when it was filmed is in the breeding plumage of the weavers. Footage I got back in June 2020; just got round to editing it.
