- Navi Mumbai is known for its robust infrastructure, which offers a good public transportation system. Considering the growing population in Navi Mumbai, it was needed to strengthen the existing transportation system.
The total length of this metro line is 23.40 km running between Belapur and Khandeshwar. As per detailed master plan submitted by DMRC for Line 1 (Belapur-Taloje-Pendhar-Khandeshwar-NMIA), the corridor is planned to be developed in three phases.

Lovely video. One of the slowest metro projects. Should’ve been fished under 10 yrs… it’s 13 yrs now and still not completed.
I went to Kharghar, back in 2016, metro was almost 70% completed then , it took 7 years for next 30%.

Kharghar and Taloja developed because of the metro project, it would be a great boon to them for day to day commuting, especially Taloja residents
If Possible make the South Mumbai Hyperlapse at Night government has done lighting around the trees and poles on street and important government offices due to G20 Summit its looking awsome

We shifted from Chembur to Kharghar in 2005. Central Park metro station was 2 min walking distance. It has been 18 years since we shifted, and 12 years since construction started. Metro hasn't started till date (May 2022) after trail runs that have been going on since 1 year.
Moved out of Kharghar last year. 12 years in wait. Good for nothing
I know many people got scammed since 2000's by navi mumbai builders in the name of metro and airport..kharghar was basically a hollow dream and a real estate bubble...properties purchased by then are now old and fetch a very low resale value...where are builders are selling newer projects at inflated rates. Kudos to you for moving out!!!

We moved from Chembur in Mumbai to KK (Koparkhairane) in Navi Mumbai in 2002. But that decision was taken after visiting Kharghar, Nerul, Sanpada, Vashi, Panvel (all prominent nodes in Navi Mumbai).
The real estate system jacked up prices everywhere in Navi Mumbai stating the international airport is coming and a metro will be built. Prices were pushed up in many places beyond affordability because of the greed of the builder lobby.
We refused to accept the pressure tactics and chose Koparkhairane instead. A few months after we bought our house, the builder lobby raised prices artificially from 2003 onwards and continued for a decade while many people (newcomers) were fooled into believing the airport and metro works would start soon.
It is 2023 now and hopefully we will see the international airport take shape by 2024/2025.
The Line 1 - Phase 1 of Navi Mumbai metro will benefit residents of Belapur, Kharghar and Taloja. Phase 2 and Phase 3 of Line 1 will help those nodes.
The other proposed lines: Line 2, Line 3 spread across North and Central Navi Mumbai are still gathering dust in the CIDCO files since 2012.

Navi Mumbai metro constructed in baren land were very less population.
That's why I gathered that Navi Mumbai metro face low ridership
Baren land? more than 1.2 million people live here, ridership doesn't just matter on the population, it matters on the connectivity and connivance. Cidco in their incompetence failed to connect major nodes with the metro hence there's not much use of it as of now.
@NavnathSurvase There is no question of low ridership/high ridership. The CIDCO authorities in Navi Mumbai were trying to build a metro since 2011 with their own revenues (without external funding, investment or expertise from proven agencies like Delhi Metro or international metro construction firms). CIDCO (City Industrial Development Corporation) builds cities but they do not have ideas on how to build a metro train system. They should have handed over/outsourced the metro work to the Delhi Metro or another international firm instead of sitting on it since 2011. MMRDA (town and region planning body) made the same mistake with Mumbai Metro Line 1 and delays in Mumbai Line 2B etc. They finally handed over consultancy work to Delhi Metro and international companies for other Mumbai Metro lines. They made a new organization called Maha Metro to oversee all these activities in Mumbai, Nagpur, Pune etc..
CIDCO finally handed over charge of Navi Mumbai Metro to Maha Metro and things are now moving forward.
The Navi Mumbai Metro Line 1 - Phase 1 (shown in this video) will benefit residents of Belapur, Kharghar and Taloja. Phase 2 and Phase 3 of Metro Line 1 will help those nodes as well.

Actual plan of Navi Mumbai was coined in 1942. But it started in 1965 and actual development started in 1970's onward from Vashi being first Node and simultaneously other Nodes got into plan.

Am Navi Mumbaikar and I feel this metro will failed because only taloja Kharghar people will get benifit of this metro not all Navi Mumbaikars , the populated nodes like Nerul vashi koparkhairane Ghansoli Airoli don't have direct access to metro 😊

I don't think so. The route of this line seems quite arbitrary and not like something that was planned since the beginning. I am pretty sure CIDCO just jumped on the metro bandwagon, at a time when even Mumbai didn't have metro yet, with the real goal of increasing property prices.

1 Kharghar Station is not connected with Metro which is must needed if Taloja crowd ko cover karna hain. Koi unnecessary Belapur se Metro lega nahin.
2. Same metro Belapur se extend kar ke new/old airports ko cover kare tab koi baat hoooo.
