It actually aims to split the air traffic at CSIA. The NMIA caters primarily to sobo people (atal setu), people living in navi mumbai, thane and some areas like pune. For people living in central mumbai CSIA is still going to be the best choice.

This is only terminal 1 which is about to be completed (shown in the video). There are two other terminals to be completed which will take another 6 to 8 years. Total 3 terminals and 2 runways, out of which 1 terminal is almost completed and 1 runway is already ready for flights to land in case of emregency. Thanks to droneman for making this video.
