God I love how you create a swell at 2:47 leading into Orpheus' high and amazing vocals with your golden colors. Then when the chorus comes in you make the swell last perfectly with your animation of Hades walking until it hits the boom of the music with them locking in with each other and beginning to rise. Absolutely perfect storytelling with the visuals and music. Wonderful work!
ok so i only got really into hadestown last year and i still haven’t met anyone who’s shared my adoration for this show except for the small community on the internet lol. So the fact that i literally discovered these WIP videos TODAY and watched all of them in one sitting is really great timing on youtube recommendations’ part and really means a lot to have new content, especially since you worked so hard on this. great work and i’m so hyped to see this :D

I HAVE NO WORDS FOR THE WAY THAT I FEEL!! This was simply beautiful! My fav panels have to be the one where Orpheus creates that golden pillar and forest around him and all the workers look in awe like the sun had finally rose in Hadestown and it's the brightest thing among the fire and machinery and wow I am replaying that a hundred times over its absolutely gorgeous!!
This is beyond phenomenal and you should be super proud! I think my favorite touch is that bit where Orpheus reaches out to Eurydice the same way Hades reaches to Persephone. My favorite versions of Epic III make it feel like it’s something of character arc for Orpheus, like NYT. It starts off with him viewing Hades as a powerful king (here he practically makes him a god), but as the story continues he starts to see the humanity in Hades, seeing more of himself in the man until the line “What he doesn’t know is what he’s defending, is already gone.” Afterwords he never refers to him as a king again, only as a man, because here he recognizes that the two of them, to one extent or another, share the same issue; the fear of losing the woman you love. I think this is the first time I’ve seen anyone acknowledge that and to see it here blew my mind!

Wow. The way you animated Persephone and Hades meeting is just breathtaking! It was so smooth and beautiful. And then when Hades and Orpheus shot up on the platform...I couldn't breathe for a second!
i know i am three years late but this is single handedly the best animatic ive seen for any musial ever. the way the warm colors contrast to the all black background and characters at first, but it slowly getting brighter and brighter as orpheus continues to sing, and even the little details like how Hades was drawn much more bigger in the beginning, but being reduced to orpheus's size at the end showing just how much the song had touched him that he veiws orpheus eye to eye, man to man, who both fell in love with a woman they would do anything for.
I had watched the Epic III progress shots for a while but somehow missed for a WHOLE YEAR the finished product - what an AMAZING animatic, it's so gorgeous, i still get chills every single time Orpheus strikes the chord that raises him and Hades up. I'm so, so happy that we get to see all the love and work you put into this!! time to go share it with everyone I know and weep again

Jesus. I just recently saw Hadestown in my hometown and I've become obsessed with it. I've must have watched this video 30 times already and I keep finding little details that add so much emotion and inspiration. Of all the Hadestown animatics on RUclips, I have to say this one is my favorite because the sheer amount of quality and creative thought put into it (especially the climax with Hades and Orpheus facing each other). The expressions are spot on and how the song becomes physical is beautiful. And the parallels between Hades and Orpheus are so painful, especially when you think about how the legend ends. Everything was timed beautifully, and drawn beautifully too. You chose one of the most (of what I believe) complex and emotional scenes in the show to do and you did not disappoint. Well done.

i had watched your epic iii cathedral video a year ago and was mesmerized. when i found out you are working on an epic iii animatic, i was ecstatic. the first time i watched the part where Orpheys' first 'la la's enters, i had gotten literal chills all over my body (and watched it at LEAST 10 times). i have been a fan of this musical for years, but nothing i had watched before matched the energy the song had like that part, with the golden beams and the flowers as the screen zooms out of Orpheus' face. i just knew that this would be something wonderful when the final version comes out... and i was right, this is so wonderfully made! thank you for all your art on this musical and for bringing this project to the world, your devotion is truly inspiring. can't wait to see more work from you (after your well deserved break, 2 years is so damn long)!

Rewatching this, along with the notes, it’s really amazing to see your thoughts behind everything, things you wanted to do, etc. I like how you took inspiration from shows and movies for certain scenes, and I think it helped with inspiration. The whole thing with switching sides and perspectives was really cool and effective. And of course, the art. Holy cake. Every single frame is gorgeous. I can think of at least 4 parts that would be perfect for wallpapers, and even for some of the simpler parts, the character and background designs are still stellar. Probably my favorite animatic on RUclips. OH! And the parallels between your cathedral edits and this. Makes it so much nicer.

The sun and moon segment plus the la la la part are some of the best animatic visuals I’ve seen. Made me realize that if they ever made a Hadestown movie, I would love it to be animated

My fav panels have to be the one where Orpheus creates that golden pillar and forest around him and all the workers look in awe like the sun had finally rose in Hadestown and it's the brightest thing among the fire and machinery and wow I am replaying that a hundred times over its absolutely gorgeous!!

I think my favorite touch is that bit where Orpheus reaches out to Eurydice the same way Hades reaches to Persephone. My favorite versions of Epic III make it feel like it’s something of character arc for Orpheus, like NYT. It starts off with him viewing Hades as a powerful king (here he practically makes him a god), but as the story continues he starts to see the humanity in Hades, seeing more of himself in the man until the line “What he doesn’t know is what he’s defending, is already gone.” Afterwords he never refers to him as a king again, only as a man, because here he recognizes that the two of them, to one extent or another, share the same issue; the fear of losing the woman you love. I think this is the first time I’ve seen anyone acknowledge that and to see it here blew my mind!

Wow. The way you animated Persephone and Hades meeting is just breathtaking! It was so smooth and beautiful. And then when Hades and Orpheus shot up on the platform...I couldn't breathe for a second!
i know i am three years late but this is single handedly the best animatic ive seen for any musial ever. the way the warm colors contrast to the all black background and characters at first, but it slowly getting brighter and brighter as orpheus continues to sing, and even the little details like how Hades was drawn much more bigger in the beginning, but being reduced to orpheus's size at the end showing just how much the song had touched him that he veiws orpheus eye to eye, man to man, who both fell in love with a woman they would do anything for.
Finally! The one animatic that does this song right is done!
I had watched the Epic III progress shots for a while but somehow missed for a WHOLE YEAR the finished product - what an AMAZING animatic, it's so gorgeous, i still get chills every single time Orpheus strikes the chord that raises him and Hades up. I'm so, so happy that we get to see all the love and work you put into this!! time to go share it with everyone I know and weep again

Jesus. I just recently saw Hadestown in my hometown and I've become obsessed with it. I've must have watched this video 30 times already and I keep finding little details that add so much emotion and inspiration.
Of all the Hadestown animatics on RUclips, I have to say this one is my favorite because the sheer amount of quality and creative thought put into it (especially the climax with Hades and Orpheus facing each other). The expressions are spot on and how the song becomes physical is beautiful. And the parallels between Hades and Orpheus are so painful, especially when you think about how the legend ends. Everything was timed beautifully, and drawn beautifully too.
You chose one of the most (of what I believe) complex and emotional scenes in the show to do and you did not disappoint. Well done.

i had watched your epic iii cathedral video a year ago and was mesmerized. when i found out you are working on an epic iii animatic, i was ecstatic. the first time i watched the part where Orpheys' first 'la la's enters, i had gotten literal chills all over my body (and watched it at LEAST 10 times). i have been a fan of this musical for years, but nothing i had watched before matched the energy the song had like that part, with the golden beams and the flowers as the screen zooms out of Orpheus' face. i just knew that this would be something wonderful when the final version comes out... and i was right, this is so wonderfully made! thank you for all your art on this musical and for bringing this project to the world, your devotion is truly inspiring. can't wait to see more work from you (after your well deserved break, 2 years is so damn long)!

How am I FIVE MONTHS LATE TO THIS?! This was probably my most favorite project to watch blossom on RUclips, and I'm so happy to finally see it done. Out of all the Epic III animation on RUclips, I always felt like this one was the one to do it "correctly" and I'm so proud now that it's finished! Congratulations druid for hire, and I'm excited to see what comes next.

Rewatching this, along with the notes, it’s really amazing to see your thoughts behind everything, things you wanted to do, etc. I like how you took inspiration from shows and movies for certain scenes, and I think it helped with inspiration. The whole thing with switching sides and perspectives was really cool and effective. And of course, the art. Holy cake. Every single frame is gorgeous. I can think of at least 4 parts that would be perfect for wallpapers, and even for some of the simpler parts, the character and background designs are still stellar. Probably my favorite animatic on RUclips.
OH! And the parallels between your cathedral edits and this. Makes it so much nicer.
