I wish we lived in a society where everything is above board. Sometimes it's difficult to bite more than you can chew especially working at school with children. We are chalk and cheese in terms of character, outlook and habits. If you are unemployed, you can be in the doghouse.Sometimes I hate hair of the dog that bit me because it renders me giddy and causes me vomitting. But most people overcome their unpleasant feelings by wanting to drinking another round of dog. If your ears are burning, it means that some people are talking behind you, according to to our custom. Your explanation is bee's knees. Thumbs up! Cheers!
Oh! What a lucid explanation by an English teacher from Britain showing objects for easy understanding of idioms. In the midst of mushrooming American English Teaching channels, channel like yours is what most viewers eagerly look forward to.Brief but good video. 👍
@@ambedkarkorapati3870 I can certainly make some videos about grammar, but let me reassure you that British people don't speak with perfect grammar all the time! Even I have to correct myself sometimes to make sure I don't say anything wrong in my videos.
Happy new year mrs Helen . Thank you for your wonderful cultural educational channel. Iam Arabic lady subscriber to several British and American RUclips channels. Iam too subscriber to two educational channels one British channel mr Alex every day three or four words with one poem analysis. Learn American English mrs Brent he gives lessons about daily life it’s easily to keep with him . I learned few idioms such as sleep like baby means sleep well . Elephant in room there are big trouble and whither than white is very honest person.
If you please I looked up for idioms meaning you mentioned briefly here it’s above board means honest and not trying to deceive anyone. Bitten more than you chew means to try to do too much to take on or attempt more than one capable of doing . Like chalk and cheese means two are very different from each other they have nothing in common. In dog house means in bad situation because someone is angry at one . Hair of dog referedytp alcohol that is consumed as hangover remedy . Ear burning used to say that someone had feeling that other people are taking about him or her . We appreciate your great efforts. Best wishes for you your dearest ones .
I'm glad that I stumbled upon your new channel. Very useful in everyday chat. Good luck I knew all the idioms except for " Hair of the dog". 😅You live and learn.
You're welcome .☺ My name is Helen. I made a video to introduce myself, you can watch it here. ruclips.net/video/JKv9DhRTrFU/видео.htmlsi=i0VZSoYnuQk6lXy_
Listening to your accent, I assume that you come from the northern part of Great Britain because I can hear it in words such as "above". Also you pronounce the verb "say" in the 3rd person as "seiz" instead of "sez". Am I right😊
I made a video about rain, here it is. ruclips.net/video/KDXFhxgZJJ0/видео.htmlsi=UnffIq1VhWTbxzx3 Everyone understands “raining cats and dogs”, but no-one actually says it in conversation. In this video I am using some of the idioms I hear and use most frequently.
British English should be taught with an accent because nobody in England speak like BBC 😂😂 They speak so fast and with accents like you did when you said, 'Oh you look rough, you've had a hair of the dog ay? ' You should teach us like that so that when we go to the UK we can uunderstand normal locals.
It's interesting that you mentioned BBC English. My next video is about the difference between my accent and received pronunciation (also known as BBC English)! I am also planning a video where I chat to a local friend at our normal conversational speed.

In a pickle is same as in the doghouse right?
It’s similar but not the same. “I’m in a pickle” means I have a problem, but “I’m in the doghouse” means that someone is angry with me.

Is Speak of the devil is same as Are your ears burning ?
Yes, you would use it in the same way. It means you were talking about someone and then they came in.

Yes it’s very similar, we say it in the same situation.
