5:54 The game registers enemy inputs on the first 4 frames of super flash, and the parry input also stays active regardless of the side you switch to. To my knowledge it's a regular 7 frame window to parry, but the parry timer does decrement during those 4f of super flash. You also have to consider that the ducking is unreactable, so there's only a small window to input the parry while Dudley's in front of you. You also need to make sure your stick is in neutral when he crosses under you; if you're holding forward while he swaps sides, the game will treat it like you just started holding backwards and cancel out your remaining parry frames
What I was trying to imply is that if you're trying to parry his regular anti airs (in that situation it's a 50/50) you'd only have 1 frame to properly parry as you cannot react to those 2 situations without suffering the full super freeze. I do appreciate the info and I apologize being as brief as possible had it's toll taken on the video in some form. It's supposed to be a quick and digestible tutorial even if I agree it can be done better here and there
Right no, Dudley has a lot of nuance and I think you did a good job of hitting all of the important stuff. I might've touched on the fact that you're substantially minus when you cancel into ducking, and maybe mentioned HK xx DP as a point blank punish over f.MK, but otherwise I think you'd be on a very good track as a noob watching this
There's a bit in the punishes segment that shows HK as a point blank punishing tool, the only reason I suggest 6MK is because it's REALLY easy to go into heavy DP due to starting on 6, I tried my absolute best making it as beginner friendly as possible while maintaining good information. You are minus during ducking but it's still a great tool in pressure when you can get it implying you do light ducking, I should've made the statement to be careful as you are minus. That's a particular segment I wish I've done better. I see a lot more issues with this video than you can think, and I've revised it so many times, I just hope to do a better job next time.
@@AkiraSatou yeah, intentionally not cancelling into ducking and then trying to counterhit their crouching MP or whatever is way higher level than the scope of your guide, and I feel like you'd have to cover that if you covered ducking being minus, so it was fine to omit imo. I mean I started using him in 2020, but I don't understand him enough to make a decent strategy that isn't an "in your face" offense. I'll make great use of this.
Great guide! I’m having trouble with connecting SA3 after the ducking move. The notation says “41236MK, P, 236 P.” So does that mean the 236 motion within the duck move count as one quarter circle for the SA3?
Yes, but it's better if you input it as 236236P, I'll be honest when I first made this video I had thought I was inputting it how I wrote it down, but found out my own hands were lying to me, that particular combo barely works if you do it how I notated it, and for that I apologize deeply. The proper notation would be 41236MK P 236236P. With this notation you should have higher accuracy and I apologize for my shortcomings.
Do you have any advice for staying in to keep up pressure as Dudley? I frequently push myself out too much and then struggle to step back into that space.
5HK -> Light ducking -> respond to their actions, you can counter poke a low response with 2MK/2HK and get some oki, or 2MP -> Light ducking again to "get in" but no pressure is free, there will be a gap somewhere somehow, but mix up things like 6MK -> 2MP -> Light ducking -> watch response and if they're complacent and sitting on their block walk up grab, or if you're far dash grab, but no matter what you're gonna have to watch and try to respond accordingly. If your opponent loves responding with high buttons 6MK or 5HK almost always beats them out right and 6MK sets up pressure immediately when you hit them out of a button. And 5HK leads to Heavy MGB or EX MGB if you counterpoke a high response. To write a little gameplan out in pressure for you it'll look something like this; HIT THEIR BLOCK; 6MK -> 6HK(overhead)/2LK 2LK(low) -> SA1/3 6MK -> 2MP -> Light ducking -> wait for a response, respond with 2MK/2HK to try and catch low buttons, or 5HK -> Heavy MGB/EX MGB to catch high buttons, alternatively just hit 6MK after Light ducking and push low/high mixup again 5HK -> Light ducking -> Grab/6MK 5HK -> Light ducking -> 2LK 2LK(low)/6HK(overhead) -> SA1/3 You can even use a raw short swing blow at any time after 6MK to beat Grab techs and convert to super+oki, and if it's blocked you can start again responding to what they do. Again if they're complacent go in and grab, if not and they like responding try 2MK/2HK to get low buttons, or 5HK -> Heavy MGB/EX MGB to get damage and oki if you get the EX. The moment they block your 2MK/2HK/2LK 2LK/6HK you'll have to check their response and guess correctly to get back in. Alternatively just jump back in lmao dudley has a great jump and it's super abuseable, from any jump in that gets blocked you can push your same high low mixup, and if it hits you get your full jump in combo (9HK -> 5HK -> 623HP -> 236P) Some examples are at 2:39 but never be rigid in your pressure, always mix it up and try to be unpredictable! Definitely sit and practice pressure on a bot that is set to block all and get comfortable schmoving on 'em. Just don't use any ducking that isn't Light as the rest can be extremely minus and punishable on reaction.

Of course a website like that is going to use different notation because SF uses a notation that was invented when fighting games were invented. Numpad is a recent (relatively anyway) invention for describing how to do actions in a fighting game. Despite being recent that doesn't subtract from it's fluidity and ease of use.

Such a convenient recommendation from RUclips-! I've been looking to learn a little about Dudley...! I have but one criticism for this video being that: it would have been much appreciated, were the inputs being discussed been displayed on screen. (õ∀ŏ;)ゞ With how quickly the inputs are mentioned into what the briefly talked about uses-it was extremely hard for me to follow through 90% of the video. The standard combo segment was nice, seeing as you only had to focus on the input string so much as the button *_and_* application, of what is to me: an unfamiliar character. The video was otherwise a nice breakdown I imagine, and summary of application is much appreciated. I may have to come back to this at a later time-┐(‘~`;)┌
Damn, so the 6HK into super combo is a 1 frame link, no wonder why it is hard to pull off! Anyway, this video was very helpful, keep up the good work :)
You can make it (at best) a 6f link implying you're perfect, but most players aren't perfect so you'll hit like 4/6 of your inputs for negative edge/pianos, so you can make it much much easier, but yeah it do be kinda hard. Thanks for the support my main man
It's been 2 months and i figured that this combo works mainly with crouching opponents, my trick to pull it off is "pianoing" the three punch buttons after the 236 x2 EDIT: I read the description just now... god i am dumb 😂 Anyway, i keep coming back to this guide and it's still helpful 🌹
@@AkiraSatou thank you for the advice, you got a cool dudley video tbh its been like hard to find something that makes it simple now I just gotta learn how to use a stick lmao
I tried my best, make sure you use whatever you're comfortable with! I play on keyboard/pad/stick you name it, I have a particular control scheme I like for every different fighting game
Those number notations suck. Just us qcf (quarter circle forward) instead of 236. You’re using up 3 character spaces anyways. Qcf is more intuitive and easier to understand. QCB. DP (dragon punch)
@PracticeSpecialist-uz2sm no, numpad notation is easier and more effective and should be the de facto standard. It allows you to notate things like 3HK (chun li move) without any awkwardness. And is clear to read to anyone who has even more than 5 seconds trying to decipher it. It's the future of notation and should've been standard a long time ago, I'm sorry but I'll continue to use it. It's good notation actually
Even though I know what you're saying, I feel like your talking speed would make it very hard to process what you're saying for beginners, and even myself at times, especially when you're throwing in move names and terminology like Oki and OS, which were not explained. Or if it was explained, there's just so much going on that it's easy to miss in a video where you felt the need to explain notation. Okay, you explained Oki at the end, after it being said several times, but at least a bunch of uses followed.
I 100% understand, it's namely just concessions you have to make when trying to fit everything into a shorter easier to finish watching video length. Like I could have easily made this video 50m, but then it runs the risk of never even being watched or most of the info just going on and on and on. I do agree with your stance however, I feel like I should've rounded out the video to 20m I think and put some time into really driving explanations further
Is there a trick to getting the second half of the half circle (for ducking for instance) to count as a quarter circle towards your super? Am I too slow? Do I misunderstand and is this impossible?
You have to get a 3, dudleys ducking can be performed via 426, but a super needs At minimum 23623, so make sure you hit that first down forward! Should make it easier
just wanted to say, this guide is perfectly made with useful information for someone trying to pick up Dudley in SF:3rd strike. Do you plan on making difficult guides and guides for SF 6? I ask because the style and format is something ive been looking for in other guides
I've tried the combo at 9:21 for like two hours. I'm seriously doubting you can use the QC forward from the ducking straight and then finishing with the 236 at the end. I literally can't get the timing down and have tried everything it feels like.
Try 41236MK > MK (ducking upper) it's a lot easier and should be what you need, don't worry about the ducking straight here, I really shouldn't have tried to teach beginners to use it. At the time I thought ducking straight was easier and more effective but I was more naive at the time. Ducking upper is leaps and bounds easier to confirm and use Also make sure you do the full 23623 motion for super. I notated it kinda weird and to be honest it's a sour spot of the video. And for that I'm sorry
@@AkiraSatou okay thanks I will try that. I appreciate your response and making this video. You did a great job and hopefully if anyone else has the same question as me, they'll see your helpful response.

I installed the game 5 days ago. I watched this video at the very beginning but the Phd lvl requiring knowledge was slightly overwhelming so i searched for guide else where. Not to mention the sick skills at the very beginning fucking gave me goosebumps. Anyway after small amount of practicing i get this video understand it and try things myself like ducking mk,mk which is much easier to pull off than ducking mk, mp, like i was practicing with elena of all enemies and i didnt hit it once. Anyway thanks for making this content and making it for free there is lots of greedy mfs within any realm of new knowledge and some of them are pricy i truly admire the fact that stuff like this is free. Keep up the good work. I would make a complete begginer guide(not sure if you have one because i havent found it while searching smth similar) the intro covers the basics but i needed to learn things like parry 101 in the bonus stage grabbing how to taunt how to pull of the super bar draining special moves (from this video) but you know thats deduction and not learning. Of course your channel your life thanks once again and i wish you a great day.
Use medium kick ducking, then just mash kick. medium ducking upper is the easiest combo and I really should've used that in my video, but I wasn't as skilled making this video as I am now in more hours into the game. I apologize for the inconvenience
@@AkiraSatou ahh i was mashing punch instead of kick, thanks for the advice. dw about it i’m just new to fighting games that use links rather than cancels to combo
I want to learn 3rd strike but I’m a real beginner and I understood about 1/3 of what you said here. Can anyone recommend a true novice guide that goes into frame advantage, etc. for example “plus on block” I hear over and over. No idea what that means.
I have hopes to go over the absolute basics of playing the actual game, but fighting games are so nuanced it can be difficult to teach in a video. But I might try
Hey thanks for the vid, I can't link the 1f after 6HK at all, i don't have any problem doing the one shown on the video with Ken. Is there something specific to know ? I tried pianoing, delaying, doing the qcf faster but nothing works. Thanks again
Dudley's 6HK has a ton more recovery, so queue your QCFs later into the animation, try to visually note the move hitting, or via audio, then start queueing your QCFs -> Piano+Negative Edge In fact slower QCFs usually help me nail it personally but it do take some practice, remember it ONLY works on a crouching opponent because of the added frame advantage

Such a convenient recommendation from RUclips-! I've been looking to learn a little about Dudley...!
I have but one criticism for this video being that: it would have been much appreciated, were the inputs being discussed been displayed on screen. (õ∀ŏ;)ゞ
With how quickly the inputs are mentioned into what the briefly talked about uses-it was extremely hard for me to follow through 90% of the video.
Thanks for the support my main man
@@AkiraSatou i see, maybe it works mostly as oki instead of a normal combo, like doing an early universal overhead into super.
I'm hitting the lab!!
It's been 2 months and i figured that this combo works mainly with crouching opponents, my trick to pull it off is "pianoing" the three punch buttons after the 236 x2
EDIT: I read the description just now... god i am dumb 😂
Anyway, i keep coming back to this guide and it's still helpful 🌹
I should've noted it only works against crouching opponents I am not gonna lie, glad you are nailing your gameplay!
Dudley is for beginners and advance players 🎮
Facts brother so true my friend
It feels so weiirrdd, im not used to most my moves being half circles lmao I come from dbfz this is such a change
If it helps, imagine doing a quarter circle forward starting from back, once you get used to it, it's not so bad. Good luck out there!
@@AkiraSatou same
Those number notations suck.
It's good notation actually
great guide !! would love to see more sf3 guides from u if u still play
I do! But only dud these days
beginner character? pfft you damn near have to be a master to be good with him
Even though I know what you're saying, I feel like your talking speed would make it very hard to process what you're saying for beginners, and even myself at times, especially when you're throwing in move names and terminology like Oki and OS, which were not explained.
Should make it easier
how do I get my sf3 on fightcade to look like yours? it's so smooth and way more clean. any settings you are using in particular?
sick thanks
just wanted to say, this guide is perfectly made with useful information for someone trying to pick up Dudley in SF:3rd strike. Do you plan on making difficult guides and guides for SF 6?
I ask because the style and format is something ive been looking for in other guides
@icarusmusic-7 hmm, in other games I'm not as good so I'll have to get better first, then maybe...
@@AkiraSatou no pressure, I am sure you'd get some following for the effort and coherency your guides have.
3 years later still useful, i’m begging for an akuma or elana guide 😕😕😕
I'm sorry I'm so lazy at making videos, I really should make some more!
Me always that banger jells out: 🕺💃👯♂️👯♀️🎉💥💦
real
I've tried the combo at 9:21 for like two hours. I'm seriously doubting you can use the QC forward from the ducking straight and then finishing with the 236 at the end. I literally can't get the timing down and have tried everything it feels like.
Try 41236MK > MK (ducking upper) it's a lot easier and should be what you need, don't worry about the ducking straight here, I really shouldn't have tried to teach beginners to use it. At the time I thought ducking straight was easier and more effective but I was more naive at the time. Ducking upper is leaps and bounds easier to confirm and use
Also make sure you do the full 23623 motion for super. I notated it kinda weird and to be honest it's a sour spot of the video. And for that I'm sorry
@@AkiraSatou okay thanks I will try that. I appreciate your response and making this video. You did a great job and hopefully if anyone else has the same question as me, they'll see your helpful response.
Thank you for explaining the number thing right off the bat, I was looking at a moves list which included numbers and I obviously hadn't seen what that meant yet so was confused, you answered that without me needing to dig further, gonna watch the rest of the video now, thanks again
no problem :)
How to do hk x ducking x super consistently? irealize im too slow to do it and its hard to do
4HK 236MK 236P (react if you got the hit from HK)
You just gotta grind it my brother
How tf do you go into Super off the overhead or the liver punch? Am I late on the super timing? I can do crouching light, crouching light into super so I don’t think I’m too slow.
It's a link, you have to do it after the move ends

@@AkiraSatou I read the comments after posting this lololol. Thanks for the response! Great guide.
I started off as a Chun main but when she stopped carrying me I knew I had to change into the classy gentleman right here to actually git gud at this game
Your guide will help me get the C rank on fightcade fr fr
EDIT: Very fine music taste with the use of p3 ost
Thanks for the kind words. I appreciate it :)
Thanks. I was pretty good with Dudley a decade a go and stopped playing. Trying to get back into Dudley. I know the notations, but refreshers are always welcome.
You're welcome, glad I could help :)
Anyone else feel fucking stupid trying to learn street fighter?
I feel that dawg
whats the song from the begining of the vid?¿?
@@nachoecapa check the top left when the video starts!!! :)
Helps even 3 years later
You did a great job homie
This video is amazing bro. Well done
Thanks :)
I should do a beginners guide to fighting games, but it's extremely hard to make that without fucking it up.
does anyone else find it impossibly difficult to link into the duck then punch for a juggle? i can’t do it for the life of me
Use medium kick ducking, then just mash kick. medium ducking upper is the easiest combo and I really should've used that in my video, but I wasn't as skilled making this video as I am now in more hours into the game.
@@AkiraSatou I just need the definitions of these terms.

Thanks! I chose Dudley to getting started, I'm kinda new on SF
ur welcome :)
Hey thanks for the vid,
I can't link the 1f after 6HK at all, i don't have any problem doing the one shown on the video with Ken.
Is there something specific to know ? I tried pianoing, delaying, doing the qcf faster but nothing works.
Thanks again
Dudley's 6HK has a ton more recovery, so queue your QCFs later into the animation, try to visually note the move hitting, or via audio, then start queueing your QCFs -> Piano+Negative Edge
In fact slower QCFs usually help me nail it personally but it do take some practice, remember it ONLY works on a crouching opponent because of the added frame advantage
sorry for my ignorance, but what is the song at the beginning of the video?
MVC2 clock tower theme
Best dudders guide on yt. Intelligent and concise, you're a true gentleman. Stay classy.

Lots of useful information here! Thanks!
Haha thanks
Pls do this with the other characters pls
I'd really love to, but I'm simply not proficient enough in every character to give a proper synopsis, my Dudley is my main and even then there are some sad blemishes to be found in this video if you look closely.
Maybe in the future, but don't count on it. I appreciate the support immensely

How to throw a fireball
236P
Your char must be able to throw a fireball however, common chars that can are Ryu/Ken/Akuma. There are more and their inputs are different but this should help you out ;)
@@AkiraSatou Man that's cool. What's the best keyboard for fighting games?
Any mechanical keyboard should do, past that it's preference for switch type, but you definitely don't want any mushy feel or inconsistencies with your presses.
