Followed this video, changed mine today as come up as advisory on MOT. Top marks, very informative, only bit I did struggle with was knocking the old one free from the seated areas. Used febi bilstein part aswell. Thank you!
On my 128i, I do not have a rear guibo. Just one from transmission output to driveshaft. Went to replace the rear based on this video, and turns out it’s not on my vehicle..
nice video. ista warns that you should mark the flanges so that you can reassemble them exactly the same to avoid buzzing as some parts of the assembly are balanced at factory. not sure if the 130i diff or transmission output flange actually are, but i believe at least in some M cars they do stuff on the diff side which means its good practice nonetheless.
You explain it every time nicely, but I'm a bit scared to lift(jucking) just the back of the car. What if it rolls off? Or do you want us to know that the front wheels have to rest on something for safety? And its the same for Diesel ? Wouldn't it make more sense to change the front and rear? Thanks
Hey. Do you have a video with how to unclog the front sunrroof exit holes? I have an e61 and not sire where i find the exit holes for the front drain tubes. Are they in the fender or? The rears are clear
Doesn’t look too bad to do. I think the guibo on my LE is starting to die, or I’ll add this to the list of jobs for the spring whilst I’m replacing suspension arms and bushes.
@@MTechGuy don’t suppose you can confirm the Febi part number can you? I’m struggling to find one with the same markings to confirm rests it’s OE. Thanks.
Can a broken coupling cause transmission issues like not being able to engage any gears? I have a 2012 E90 320i manual transmission. Great video new subscriber thanks in advance!
Thanks for checking out the video man. No, it wouldn’t have any effect on gear engagement, it would just be clonk noise from the rear and sloppy driveline operation
How did you get the guibo back on ans get the propshaft to locate back into the diff? I just canr get enough clearance to get the propshaft over the diff shaft. Need another 10mm or so
If the rubber coupling is really worn it will make a noise on take off, or moving from forwards to reverse etc. An inspection of the coupling will soon tell you if it’s worn
He did not torque it to a specific number, just quite firm with the arms. There might be a torque setting, but I think if you are under the car just tighten them as tight as you can (without going crazy) and it will be fine
Great video. No rubbish, clear filming and commentary - thabks for this. Going to get it done on mine next week

Cheers mate, yeah they can get frozen in there and there’s not much room to fight with it either.
No worries next MOT now!
I love how you present your videos
Cheers man, appreciate the feedback. Thanks for watching!
Brilliant video, even as an absolute novice mechanic, you make me feel like I could do that. Thanks so much for doing these 👍🏼
No worries man. Thanks for checking out the video 👍
OMG I payed so much in the garage for this. I could have done this myself with your video. Thanks for sharing!
No worries Bram, shame I only just put the video out!

I wouldn’t worry about it. It’s different if you split the driveshaft itself though, that definitely needs to be marked
You have made it look very easy thanks I have a 2009 118d will it be same. Please let me know.
Thanks kind regards Zaid
great video mate!! will safe a lot of people lots of money !!! top job!!
Hope so! Thanks for checking out the video 👍

What would be the symptoms of a bad coupling? Thanks for these videos. nice job! :)
Cheers EFRANEED. Usual symptoms drivetrain nose/vibration. Check the coupling for cracks, tears and missing pieces
M Tech Guy thank you :)
Hello, thanks for your videos. I own a 120i but it is quite similar.
What kind of noise would that be?
Thanks you

I do as it happens, check it out-

Nevermind, did it. Just needed to get a pry bar and put some force behind it to *just* get enough clearance
👍
Alright pal thanks for the vid would this cause like a shaking feeling under acceleration and a knocking noise only on acceleration though

Hi I have e90 330d I think mine needs doing is it the same type of job or it involves more work ? thanks
I don’t think an E90 330d has a rubber coupling at the differential end of the driveshaft
@@MTechGuy I think it does is it the Guibo flex disc ? the same thing ?
Yes same thing, if it has one it’ll be the same process (more or less)
Thank you awesome content you just earner a subscriber your self
Thanks man, I’m glad you’re here
How long did it take?
It takes me about three times longer than normal with all the filming etc.
How much do you torque the bolts 25nm ?
He did not torque it to a specific number, just quite firm with the arms. There might be a torque setting, but I think if you are under the car just tighten them as tight as you can (without going crazy) and it will be fine
It's around the 80 nm mark.
