this interview is fucking awful the interviewers did NOT do the proper research and everyone in the comments needs to understand this show is NOT a remake its an entirely new thing in the same universe as the original HSM the original troy and gabriella exist in the show lucas grabeel even makes an appearance in the show and the characters are fans of troy and gabriella . Trust me everyone who loved HSM will love this show, give it a chance .
Actually it's not exactly the same universe as HSM, because they acknowledge Zac Efron, Vanessa and everyone else...
But I agree, the series might seem like a joke but it's awesome

Ryan L Im not sure if u ended up watching the show but it’s not a remake like AT ALL. The characters aren’t even like Troy 2.0 or Gabriella 2.0. They’re completely different characters and like they’re doing a stage production of hsm but its really about the kids playing the movie characters and like their personal lives outside of the production. It just shows snippets of like the script read through, tech rehearsals stuff like that cuz that’s what brings the characters together in the first place.
Because not everyone likes remakes. Like the disney live action movie remakes. Alot of people don't like them.

It’s not HSM though. It’s a series about a school that is putting it on for their school production. So why would you have old characters from the original films?

Meh. It's a high concept take off, not a reboot. There's not a real way to bring back the old characters. They'd have to come back as fictionalized versions of the actors themselves.
