@@janebeatty9472 “We are all are part of her history now.” No offence, but I have no idea what that means. Frankly I think monarchy has outlived its proper time. It legitimises the House of Lords, an 800-strong group of professional lobbyists, electoral rejects and hereditary gits - and they get to substantially rewrite laws. Monarchism also perpetuates a mindset of deference at every level of British society. You don’t notice how class-ridden and status-obsessed Britain is unless you live elsewhere. Then you come to the UK and it hits you in the face. The fact that Brits literally bend the knee to blithering idiots and even monstrous characters needs to be really seriously questioned. It’s not good enough to say how admirable Anne is, or that you feel for Chas, when a childhood accident could have landed us with Andrew as our national representative. Or any idiot or trash. I watched her funeral today on tv and when the coffin was lowered I had to fight back the tears. I had no idea how the coffin would be removed from the church but when they lowered it into the floor and it disappeared that really got to me. It was an beautiful ceremony and very touching. The bible gives us the text about the Transfiguration of Christ. He arrived on mount tabor and then his clothes change into shining white and Moses and Elias appear to him and talk to him. This text is important for your belief in the eternal and immortal soul of humans, while others say there is not such an proof of an enternal and immortal soul in the bible. Others say the deceased are sleeping until they awake in a new body on Judgement Day. But the proof for you lays in the fact that Moses and Elias have died before Jesus was even born. Elias disappeared physically - I think - but Moses really died and his body was buried in a tomb. And in this scene they are pictured as really active: they don't sleep until the day of resurrection / judgement day , but can act and talk with Jesus.

In the last few years people have tried to tarnish her name and the monarchy, so seeing so much love for her is so reassuring. We are really feeling it here. The last 10 days have been surreal and we still cannot fathom what's happened. We've lost our sovereign, the nation's grandmother, and security blanket. This will NEVER be replicated. No monarch will ever be able to attain this sort of legacy. This is a huge loss. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, from a friendly Londoner (and historian). Love and peace to you all.

There will never be another monarch of her caliber. I feel like we’ve all lost something extraordinarily precious even if the vast majority of us have only ever seen Her late Majesty through a screen. My sincerest condolences to the UK and the rest of the world

As an American this has been a very moving experience. Hearing " God Save The Queen" is especially touching as it is the melody that was borrowed for our own quasi- anthem " Of Thee I Sing". LONG LIVE YOUR KING.

Actually it was in use in this country long before America was founded and it been used in France and libertine even longer so hope America it is not borrowed from you.
