Woodturning - Out of This World Hollow Form Vessel
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 15 авг 2024
- This week I'm sharing a slightly more advanced project that involves turning, hollowing, and carving/sculpting. Much of the hollowing and fine tuning of the outside shape has been cut out, but there's no trick to it - it's just done by eye. Keeping the upper and lower hemispheres relatively symmetrical is the most challenging part of this project. There are ways you could ensure the sphere is spherical, if that's important to you, but I tend to just go with what looks good enough to me.

Please note, my videos are for entertainment only. They are simply demonstrations and are NOT intended to be instructional. Proper training and experience are essential before attempting to use any woodworking equipment. Do not attempt projects or techniques that are beyond your skill level or your comfort level! Serious accidents can happen in an instant and bandaging wounds or sitting in an emergency room is much less fun than woodturning. You are always responsible for your own safety. The only rules are: 1) Be careful; 2) Have fun.
Very good yob 👏👏👏👏🍻
It’s lovely 🌞
Very wonderful work!
The piece is futuristic and stunning! One of the main reasons I REALLY ENJOY watching your channel is you always let the viewers in on your thought process of the piece you are creating. That incite helps me to understand the creative process. I’m hoping to have a small workshop by the end of the year and then I’m going to revive a love of woodworking, specifically woodturning, that has been lying dormant since 1973. I got hooked on the precision of metal machining and indulged that fantasy until 1976 when I graduated high school and started driving trucks eventually becoming a mechanic. PLEASE…..PLEASE always give a little audio, even if it’s just the type of wood and how you figured out what to do with it. At 63 I’m thirsting for knowledge in a new area. Peace Mr. Eames!
Hey Michael! Thanks for taking the time to give me your thoughtful feedback! I'll get back to including some brief thoughts in future videos. Lately, I've just been trying to keep up... I'm always glad to hear when people plan to start turning wood, since my goal is to help get/keep people interested in woodturning. Thanks for watching!

Your work is awesome! I’d love to do something like what you make. Really creative!
You are a pretty good turner. I do hope your subs go up. Hang in there.
Uh, thanks, I guess… Haven’t posted a video in almost a year. Been too busy turning and doing shows.
love mine!! the center of gravity and smoothness are so amazing. it doesn't have to be a perfect sphere-- a Disney-style warp gives a lot of character
Thanks, Paul! I'm glad you love it!
Really clever and delicate work. Love how it has turned out.
Thanks, Ray!
far out! sorry couldn't resist that one! Nice work!
I love the outcome. Very artistic piece. It always amazes me how dull cherry can look while working on it, but with a finish it just comes alive. Always cool to see your videos pop up on my feed.
Thanks so much, Nick!
Fine job well done, thanks for sharing Chad, cheers Colin.
Outstanding piece, Chad! Thanks!
Thanks, Greg! I hope you’re doing well!
Out of this world! (It had to be said)
Nice piece,I've been trying more artistic pieces myself lately, not all successfully lol Maybe try some audio, I like to hear the tools working, maybe even some voice over?
Thanks, David! There is actually audio there, it’s just very faint because it’s not particularly pleasant at that fast speed. It did end up quieter than I intended though. I decided I need to stop talking through the videos in order to be able to keep making them right now. Talking roughly doubles the recording and editing time. I’m not a big fan of voice over, but at some point I might try it. Thanks for the feedback! I’m always curious about what people like/want.
Nice video, beautiful work and great recovery! How long have you been turning? Glad I found your channel. Take care.
Very cool! Nice job, you definitely got some talent on the lathe!
Thank you very much!
Now let's see that with an angle of about 35 degrees.
The way that Saturn is often depicted.
You could simply place it on a separate concave stand and tilt it, obviously.
But could you turn it on a connected base with such an angle?
Challenge.
Another great piece Chad.
Thanks a lot, Doug! I hope you’re doing well!
@@ChadEamesWoodWorks much better thank you. About to go into the shop to turn some wine glass stems.
BEAUTIFUL CRAFTSMANSHIP BUD
Thanks, Tony!
Enjoyed the video. What is the real time start to completion?
Very nice work, but it would be really helpful if you showed us what tools you used to hollow out the inside. The video is too fast and the tool disappears before we ever see it. Even if you added some text off to the side as you switch tools would be very helpful.
Amazing work loved no stupid music or drab talking.
What is wire loop thing you put in the hollow form several times while hollowing? Is it a homemade thickness gauge or???
Yes, that is exactly what it is… super handy. It’s a quick way to figure out if your wall thickness is consistent. If the gap between the outside of the vessel and the outside point of gauge changes as you run it along the inside, then you know your wall thickness isn’t consistent. Good eye! 👍 Thanks for watching!
@@ChadEamesWoodWorks what kind of wire is it and what is on the end?
It’s chain link fence wire with plastic end caps that are made for wire shelves.
