jaquelnelinenlx9035 Yes God also is weeping. The United States Episcopal Church , The Church of England, The United Methodist Church, Heavy heretical rumblings in Rome..... I am grayeful to now be Anglican in an Anglican in the Anglican Church in North America. (ACNA) Diocese of Ft Worth, parish of St Francis in Dallas Texas. Hearing teachings ghat are Always Straight Theological Truth is wonderful. BLESSINGS TO YOU.
I was born into the Methodist church almost 59 years ago. Our UMC is a rural church and our pastors have always taught about salvation etc. Since this happened my soul has been very restless as to what to do now!! I love my church and my church family but I also know the words of the Bible. I've been told that it's just a social standard like it carries less weight than if it were doctrine! Don't know what to do right now except to pray about things and to wait and see if my church goes off the rails!!
A lot of churches didn't leave the UMC because they did not have the funds to do so. The church I attend sold the parsonage to raise the money required to leave the UMC. We are now an independent church.
there is something wrong with a system that makes the congregation pay to leave it. at least you were able to break free from a spiritually dying denomination.
Every day in Heaven people meet someone new, so each day someone meets John Wesley and asks him, "You're John Wesley? Weren't you the founder of the United Methodist Church?" To which he responds, "I wish people would quit reminding me of that."
The churches that remain in the UMC are financially trapped. The United Methodist Church owns the property of each individual local church. Each church that left had to pay an exorbitant fee to leave. Also, the issue of sexuality passed so easily because the African church was late in receiving information for their visas to travel to America. The African delegation was opposed to gay marriage and ordination. Oddly enough many could not attend General Conference because of this "mistake". Ummm go figure!
Your membership and attendance--and even your statement of attendance--promote wickedness. We are called to be holy as the Lord our God is holy (Lev 19:2, 1 Pet 1:15-17). We are to separate ourselves from wickedness--to "come out from among them" (2 Cor 6:17). We are commanded to "show mercy tempered with FEAR, hating even the clothing stained by the flesh" (Jude 1:23). Plead with your pastor to come out of this abomination. If he will not, then get yourself and your family out of Sodom.
Please do not paint all Methodists withe same brush as the UMC. There are many Methodists both independent, GMC and other Methodist denominations that adhere to biblical teachings. The rot in the UMC started long ago and has spread.

Just as the "Great" A&P Tea Co. ceased to be great and then disappeared, so the same will happen to the once-great United Methodist Church.
Without the people that had common sense and morals, this church will destroy itself.

New to me . Here to listen .
You can disagree all you, but you can't ignore the facts.
Left the UMC in the 1980s I saw the hand writing on the wall then. It’s only realized what I believed was coming.
John Wesley who preached and called the Church to holiness and to Godly behavior, must be rolling over in his grave.

Once you let women be ordained or serve as Elders feminism will kick the door down and destroy your Church.
wayne grudemn, the theologian, wrote a couple of books on this process. you are correct, there is a domino effect.
I still attend a UMC we are conservative

The UMC is now just a social club.

I disagree.
