      if the professor already had a history of inappropriate relations with students, and had to leave his last seminary post because of inappropriate relations, why would Fuller, one of the leading seminaries in the country, immediately turn around and hire him with his past problems? a reasonable explanation is that they were looking to hire minorities to fill some DEI quota, very plausible, makes all the sense in the world, especially coming from Fuller based on its hiring history of late.

    • @calmingwavesjulian
      @calmingwavesjulian 13 дней назад

      @@christandculture9342 Yes, I know it is a reasonable explanation. But you could be wrong, and your wording in the video didn't make this clear. You could be dead wrong and actually be slandering Fuller and causing your audience to see ghosts everywhere: DEI at every corner. There are a million reasons a seminary could hire a professor with major past problems, if you don't have tunnel vision and understand you and I don't have any concrete evidence. For instance, maybe Dr. Bantu has person friends in power at Fuller. It would still be corrupt, but not based on DEI. Maybe the folks at Fuller thought the earlier transgression was repented of adequately. Maybe Fuller staff investigated the earlier problems and thought they were not that bad *and on and on.*

      Look at the hiring patterns at Fuller over the last 10 years, look at the printed material Fuller puts out to alumni, etc. it all points to a school going "woke." Diversity is a major push at Fuller Seminary, and this is not a secret, it's out in the open. The are pushing from top to bottom for diverse seminary community, not in a natural way, but in a very intentional and planned way. Take away the fact that this professor was a "person of color" he probably would not have been hired, when there are plenty of other academics more qualified looking for positions today. i think you need to do your homework about Fuller seminary and look at the trajectory it's on.

      @@christiananswers4054 Look at your own wording "he *probably* would not have been hired" so that's an admission that you're just guessing. *If Dr. Bantu is indeed qualified*, and your *only* evidence is Fuller's outreach to people of color, then I don't think you have any good evidence. After all, you were not in the room during his interview.

    The Bible is somewhat confusing about marriage in the Bible. It seems to promote polygamy in the Old Testament. At least people use characters like Abraham. Solomon and David as examples as God blessing polygamy. Going off issue but most Fundamentalist believe God doesn't permit divorce but churches are full of divorced people. The words For better or worst," doesn't mean much. I think these words should be taken out of the vowels that people say to each other. Common sense tells me that polygamy is wrong. Genesis ideal is one man, one woman, that's God's standard. did he permit a variation called polygamy? yes, in ancient times, but these variations caused problems and trouble, so it's obvious the perfect will of God has always been monogamy. in the new testament, monogamy is promoted exclusively, especially for church leaders, but really for everyone. are there cases on the mission field where a tribal chief is married to multiple woman, gets converted, and is allowed to continue in polygamy? yes. but these are rare exceptions.

    It sounds like Bantu needs to start his own denomination and get out of mainstream Christianity. The bizarre thing to me about this story is that Bantu kept going back to his accountability group looking for acceptance, obviously he wasn't going to get it. If he wants to have multiple wives, I am OK with that as long as they are all in agreement. He can open up a new church and call it Polygamists for Christ. I suspect it would be very popular and might even grow into a mega church.

I don't define my morality by the Bible. For me, it is not immoral for him to have several sex partners as long as they are all consenting adults. The principal sin of Eve was not believing the word of God. That's the reason Paul said she was first in the transgression. She allowed the serpent to cause doubt, but after first embellishing what God had said. Blame the devil all you wish, she first deceived herself. Females tend to still do this same thing, as this woman is proof of. Now, for Adam's part, his responsibility was to uphold this word of God. He failed. God commissioned the man to do this job in perpetuity, he is still failing,. The reason this woman and others like her have risen in power, especially in these modern times, is because men chose to please women rather than stand by God's word and fully take responsibility. It's tiring, thankless and hard. To be blunt, this won't change until men remember their true responsibility. Outside of a few of you bemoaning your loss of authority on the internet, I don't see a lot of that going on.

    The real challenge is determining if Joseph Smith actually even taught some of the things that were published in this supposed sermon after his death. It's difficult to find a second witness documented in Joseph Smith's life to reinforce some of the teachings in that sermon. If Joseph only ever said it once, and he purportedly said it in the last couple months of his life, then that to me is suspect of being an actual teaching of Joseph Smith. It's not throwing him under the bus, but it is recognizing that I possibly history has been altered much more than we previously thought. In fact, the teachings that are found in the king fall at discourse that do not align with Joseph Smith's other documented teachings are more closely matched to things that Brigham Young his successor taught. It is Brigham Young that confessed to ordering the alteration of church history. If Brigham Young doctored the contents of this supposed sermon, then it takes a great spirit of discernment to begin to understand what was altered, and why it was altered. I think the Mormonism of Joseph Smith was greatly different than the Mormonism of Brigham Young. In fact, Brigham Young reestablished the church with new baptisms and new order of operations. He even included a new setting for Zion. When you look at native American sacred writings, you see that they align more so with the Book of Mormon, the Bible, and things that Joseph Smith taught rather than things that Brigham Young said. Brigham Young sermons were much more closely documented, so it gives us a good idea of what the successor spoke about. Anyway, just some things to think about before jumping off the deep end and trying to heap more upon Joseph Smith than is truthfully allotted to him.

The Bible calls Jesus God's servant and explains that Jesus only had power because Jehovah was with him, and it was Jehovah that raised him from the dead, and it was Jehovah that foretold that the messiah would come and it was Jehovah that transferred Jesus from heaven to the womb of Mary.. That's the reason why witnesses don't believe Jesus is God , but they do believe God is Almighty.

      @@christiananswers4054 Inclusion of the holy spirit in the baptism formula is the clue to what is actually been said, Because the Holy Spirit does not have a name therefore It means the power and authority of the Holy Spirit, the power and authority of Jehovah, and the power and authority of Jesus Christ... The Holy Spirit is directly from Jehovah God, hence its called God's Holy Spirit, so baptising in the name of it is the same as baptising in the name of the law....It's the power and authority that the law holds.. It's the same thing being mentioned in matthew 19... Matthew recorded Jesus as saying... "go therefore and baptize"... in the power and the authority of the name of God who has given all authority to the son to use the power and have the authority of Jehovahs holy spirit as a seal that you disciple baptise from the true God....in his name and with his approval....that's what it all means.

If you have a problem with the menu, it’s kinda dumb to argue with the waiter about it. You need to talk to the chefs (in this case, members of the church in academia who focus on apologetics.) A good example would be Jacob Hansen (his RUclips page is called Thoughtful Faith.) he’s usually open to formal debates if you reach out to him. Hope this helps ❤️

At the end of the day it doesn’t matter what you believe about us because it changes nothing. You’ve already shut your mind to the idea that we could be right. And you know what? That’s ok. We believe in a merciful God. We believe in Christ, that he bled and died for all of us. He paid the price for our mistakes. And he gives us plenty of opportunities to learn and grow and repent. I’m ok with what I believe and I don’t care how many times I have to listen to people like you tell me I’m not a Christian.
