I’ve been wanting to do a rainbow base coat with a black crackle coat on top, but I wasn’t sure how it was gonna work. Thanks to your video I think it would work out. Love your work.
I like the crackle effect it works good on lots of things. Just my opinion I think if you did something red on the inside of the bowl that would really set it off
That is realy awsome. Looks so cool with red and black. Is it possible to ad spray lacquer after the "crack maker thing"? Excuse me. My brain fails to work after 2 am. 😉 Greetings from Germany.
I can help some not so cool looking bowls this way, ThankQ. Can you polish the paint to make it baby butt smooth? Or something else? I always enjoy how you embellish your turning. You have a talent for different designs. Keep-0n-Keepen on!!!
Thank you! I used spray lacquer to make it shine. I'm not sure if you can use polish...I think that might get into the grooves of the raised paint (crackles).
Peggy that's gorgeous thanks for sharing can I ask if I haven't before lol can this be used on the inside of a bowl which is going to hold food like a fruit bowl or something like that? This is a really fantastic effect I can't wait to try it
I don't know for sure. I think if you cover it with something food safe, it would be fine, but that is only a guess. I tend to think using something like this for a fruit bowl would be fine. I mean when you get fruit out of the bowl, you probably at least wipe it off, such as an apple, or wash it before eating.
That really gave a special effect on the bowl. Very creative.
Thanks much!
Very nice Peggy. I never thought to try that. Very inspiring.
Joseph Wise thank you!😎

Interesting effect, Peggy. Thanks for sharing. I'll have to try this sometime.

The crackle finish is a very good looking way to finish a bowl.

Hello Tobias! Thanks for watching. Yes, you can spray a lacquer over it after the crackle paint dries fully.
@@PFWoodturning Wonderful. Thanks for the answer. I'm looking forward to seeing your next video. 😊

Do you need to use the montana paint for a basecoat? Does it have any special properties? Also put a dust mask on, this stuff is toxic
Mich Po hi there. No, the base coat can be any spray paint-it does not need to be Montana.
What if any, finish or wax goes over the crackle paint?
Whatever you want really. If you wanted to put a spray lacquer over it, that would be fine. But it's not required.
Do I need Montana brand for a base coat?
No.
You're only supposed let base coat dry for max 45 min
ohhhhhh
HAHA, it's like watching paint dry.
Right?! Haha.
