- Marvel Comics debut a ton of new comics in July 2024. While some will be huge hits and make best of 2024 lists, others are likely to be some of the worst comics of the year. Spider-Man: Reign II, Aliens Vs Avengers, Venom War and Daredevil: Woman Without Fear are noteworthy for different reasons. As a lifelong Daredevil and Elektra fan this Elektra becoming Daredevil and not being herself is so tragic and stupid. What a way to devalue a great character.

You can’t have every person be a hero. There are no bad guys anymore. By becoming daredevil she has given up her entire identity.
@@ryanclark6602 I always see Elektra like a very bland character because she never stop to be a killer and give dumb excuses to stay a killer. Now the character can truly change.
The BEST Alien crossover I ever read was Predator vs Judge Dredd vs Aliens. If you like any of these IPs, check it out.
MKX has the Alien fight the Predator, Jason Voorhees, Leatherface, and the Mortal Kombat universe

Elektra went from having her own movie to being the understudy of Daredevil. What a great promotion! Yay diversity!
I think "Avengers Versus Aliens" would sound better.
I enjoyed the “Aliens vs Superman” and “Aliens vs Batman,” especially with the juxtaposition of Batman being the voice of reason and restraint for Superman in the series. The “Aliens vs. Judge Dredd vs. Predator” was my favorite of the crossovers between Dark Horse and other publishers.
I want to give “Aliens vs Avengers” a chance, but man, the last few Aliens and Predator titles have been stinkers from Marvel.
Personally, I find Hickman wordy and pretentious, but decent with pace and story structure.
I know they want the Aliens name, but I'd be more excited by an Avengers/Brood mini if they could get Peter David or someone of his caliber to write it

Miles is seen as his future successor, so there's no helping it
Unless Peter is killed off for good, Miles being a successor is illogical since he's not that much younger than Peter. Also Miles is already Spider-Man, so nothing would change outside of him being the only one with the name.

ALIENS VS AVENGERS?!
Okay, that has to be the most insane thing in superhero history since Aliens vs. WildC.A.T.S. And I wouldn't be surprised if like WildC.A.T.S./Aliens (or: Stormwatch: Final Orbit as the storyline itself is called) before it, it leads to a new superhero team.
They mentioned that this is set in an alternate future, I assume in order for them to be able to kill some of the avengers and raise the stakes of the story
When Matt was in prison, Elektra taking over as Daredevil as a favor to him made some sense, even if it was just an excuse to have a female daredevil. But forcing that to continue indefinitely and calling her daredevil is stupid.

Normally I'd see "Avengers vs. Aliens" and pass - but with Hickman writing, it could actually be an entertaining story. I'll check it out. I'm not a Ewing guy either, and don't like Elektra posing as DD. It was OK for a one-off, but prefer Matt in the role.

Me too. Superman vs Aliens was the only one crossover that I liked.
@@EvandroACruz I really like SvA as well, but IMO it only works because Superman doesn't get to do much super heroing.The Lois Lane/Lexcorp subplot is by far the strongest part of this miniseries

@@maxmazzotti6651 IMHO, because Dark Horse, who owned the rights to both franchises in the 80s and 90s, was more likely to cooperate with DC than with Marvel. That's how we got "Batman vs. Predator". Seriously, read "Batman vs. Predator" if you haven't done so already. It's awesome.
@@kaczok1985 One of the little ones is into Predator. So I got him some stuff to read and read some of his stuff. AvP, AvP vs Terminator. Still got his Predator 1-4#, Dredd vs Predator, Predator 2 and Batman vs Predator to read. I got Dredd vs Aliens which I liked. Read Sups vs Aliens it was fine, but not a keeper. Read Witchblade Mindhunter and the art was so messy and confusing.
When Batman was injured Jean Paul took up the mantle but that had an expiration date. Elektra as DD needs one too.
I have got that entire run to read. That is alot of chunky books.

I think WildC.A.T.S/Aliens was probably the best crossover since it tied directly into and had consequences for what Warren Ellis was doing with StormWatch at the time. This was prime Warren Ellis, too, where he was writing some outstanding stuff for the Wildstorm universe of characters that inevitably lead to The Authority.

It’s funny that you mention Judge Dread, because yesterday I picked up a 2000AD (or maybe Judge Dread) comic at the store and flicked through it. There was a story in it with a gay guy and a talking diIdo, I couldn’t believe it haha.
I have read a ton of 2000 AD and not come across anything like that yet, but it is older stuff. I do have a few 2000 AD stories that I wouldn't consider as child safe though. Devlin Waugh the only gay lead I have come across. He was more about killing vampire than the gay experience.

It's very dumb Spider-man Reign get a sequel. Worst Spider-man story ever. Woman Without Fear is unnecessary. Venom War wil be just another cash grab event, Avengers vs Aliens can be good if Hickman manages to delivery us something worth. Superman vs Aliens was my favorite 90's crossover and I hope that this new one with the Avengers can be good too.
The last good female character comic with flaws and beauty i read was Curse of Carnage Scream her struggles and she couldn't fight Carnage on her own made her likeable that is something modern writers don't know or care how to write

Alien Vs Avengers is definitely my most hyped book. The creative team was unexpected but that has me very interested. I wonder if this is Hickman's chance to do some dumb fun.
I'm gonna wait for you to review Spider-Man: Reign 2. I love Kaare Andrews work but Spider-Man: Reign was really bad.
Pretty much agree with you on all points here. Except I'm not quite as down on Venom War as you are, although I wont be buying it. I thought Ewings Venom started out fine but has since gone very downhill.
You also got me more hyped for Aliens vs Avengers then I already was. For some reason I didn't realize Hickman was writing it, so that's a cool surprise for me.
Yeah. Venoms been lacking for me lately. I love Venom. Hopefully a good story shows up. I’m be awaiting the reviews for that one.
The best thing about the Judge Dredd Alien/Predator/Batman crossovers is they are all canon. They didn't have to make it alternative realities, or a different version to make it work. The Dredd in those stories is the same Dredd that has patrolled Mega City One for his entire run.
Reign sucked! It was a pathetic rip off of Miller's Dark Knight stuff that didn't suit the character.

I’m listening to this on my way to my lcs. Not picking up any Marvel or DC. It’s the Saturday morning cartoons TMNT and Dungeons and Dragons.
What about Energon Universe Duke? It just wrapped up and sets the stage for Duke's next encounter for our Robots in disguise
Given the way zdarsky’s second run ended on such a satisfying high note, and really feels like he wrote it as if it would be the last daredevil comic ever written, it really makes it feel like an ending to the entire series that started in the 60s. I have no interest in reading anything that comes out after it, and will mentally treat all of it as fan fiction.
Question: Would Wolverine survive Chestburster emerging from his body? And would the subsequent Xenomorph be able to regenerate?
I am reading DD by Wolfman/Brown/Janson it's super fun. Why should I read those new comics when they're guaranteed interest-less?
What about Miller's and Waid's run? They were GREAT back on the day!
@@MatthewLoh-ru1mw Miller's run is good but overrated. It starts strong but falls flat. It ends up being as light as a Coors. Born again is exceptional though. I havent read Waid's, but his run for Cap is very good
How about a Howling Commandos/Rat Patrol crossover? Or a Two Gun Kid/Alias Smith and Jones crossover? Kolchak/Brother Voodoo crossover? Come on Marvel - give us something original!

I don’t read very much Marvel at all. Really just some of the planet of the apes and a couple Star Wars titles. I think their aliens stuff sucks hard, but I gotta admit I am intrigued by AvA. I might have to check it out. Hopefully since it’s an avengers book it’ll have a higher caliber of artist than the usual aliens books. That’s been their biggest problem I think.

Now I havent actually read any Venom comics but everytime I see him in anything it just kinda sucks in comparison to the venom arc in the 90s cartoon,nothing ever lives up to that and I get annoyed whenever they use anyone other than Eddie as Venom. So many of the venom clips from the new spider man game made me cringe and was glad I didnt buy it when I heard Harry was Venom

I find it weird how Marvel just pumps out too many symbiote titles all at once. venom war, venom, carnage, symbiote 2099, sepearation anxiety, venomverse reborn. it's completely insane. spread it out more. I'm so done with symbiotes. i also think it's insane how marvel is charging 6.99 just for them to put their 2 FCBD comics together and charge u for it, even thought they were free 2 months before.
Can marvel do event with out touching our current marvel comics.and make the event at 2 to 3 issues like wrap it up .

Actuallt a baby alien/xenomorph couldn't pop out of Wolverine's rib cage wouldn't be possible since its adamantium. So it would be hilarious because the alien would be trapped and poor Wolverine would WISH for death. 😅 I like your idea because I'm so tired of Wolverine being unkillable. It's a healing factor, it's NOT a pain dampening factor. But Marvel has taken something cool and turned it into decades long plot armor 😅 stop it, Marvel. Let him feel pain! Let him avoid getting so hurt he can't finish the job!

The Aliens vs avengers one reminds me of Batman vs predator that I had as a kid and I swear im still bitter about it lol seeing Batman win pissed me off as a kid and ive been sour on Batman ever since I think lol,havent really cared since the cartoon in the 90s

I will not buy aliens vs avengers because we know that none of the avengers will die. And in an aliens story there is always people who go meet theirs makers.
Actually, since it takes place in the far future and the Avengers in this future are older, gritty versions of the present day, they MIGHT die or get turned into Xenomorphs themselves

It's another bunch of What If stories. Avengers VS Aliens is a tired concept. Archie meets the Predator was fun, AvA isn't going to be.
